Scoop: Trump tried to block Pence
national security appointment

Axios, by Jonathan Swan

Original Article

Posted By:toledo, 4/16/2018 6:46:47 AM

The White House kept it quiet until now, but on Friday the President nearly blocked the Vice President from getting his chosen national security adviser. Why this matters: It´s a highly unusual event, as Trump typically gives Pence a long leash on personnel appointments. This is the first time the President has tried to block Pence from filling a senior staff position. The scene also highlights — once again — the extraordinary importance Trump places on personal loyalty. Show less Inside the West Wing: Trump was furious when he learned Pence was bringing on Nikki Haley´s deputy Jon Lerner, according to three sources

Is there any White House gossip too trivial to focus on?
When was the last time a president did not expect fierce loyalty?
This is boring.

Liz Peek talks about the reasonableness of an expectation of loyalty in her excellent piece, posted today.

An expectation of loyalty is not a negative. And it is not just from The Godfather. It is key to business, to governance, to any endeavor where persons are expected to be engaged in a common endeavor. Whether a sports team or neighborhood store or a business corporation or government, there is an expectation of loyalty. Without that, the entity would be in chaos and doomed to fail.

Axios is not a reliable source. Its people, wearing other hats, have long been bottom feeders trying to flush out “scoops”.

This Axios article is either fake news or there are still a lot of dangerous national security related and criminal leaks coming out of the White House.

AG Sessions should wake up, find, and criminally prosecute a couple of those leakers for them to stop. Those leaks, if they are not fake news, are coming from a very small cabal of people who are privy to President Trump’s conversations and should be easy to track down in this modern electronic age.

Senator Chuck Schumer says he knows why President Trump ended up picking Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court. Mr. Schumer, according to the dispatch in the New York Post, is “worried” about Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s probe and reckons Judge Kavanaugh would be a “barrier” to the investigation. All we can say is that if it’s true, it’s the best of the many wonderful things people are saying about Judge Kavanaugh. The judge has certainly been in the thick of the fight to defend separated powers, which are so threatened by the very concept of independent (and special) counsels. Since the presidency of

Two years ago it would been unimaginable that Graydon Carter would be out of Vanity Fair and his arch nemesis, Donald Trump, would be in the White House. Carter, 68, co-founded Spy magazine in the 1980s where he infamously branded Trump a “short-fingered vulgarian” before taking the helm at Vanity Fair in the 1990s. There he presided over Hollywood’s toughest guest list, Vanity Fair’s annual Oscars afterparty. Since leaving Condé Nast last year, Carter has spent the last several months in the south of France plotting his next act. In March 2017, journalist Tony Ortega reported that the actor and Scientologist Danny Masterson was being investigated by the LAPD on multiple counts of sexual assault. Ortega’s bombshell story referenced a Victim B, who filed a report with the LAPD in 2004 claiming that Masterson sexually assaulted her in 2003. A copy of Victim B’s report alleges that, “The victim woke up while the suspect was having sex with her and struggled with him. The suspect choked the victim until she passed out.” Masterson has vehemently denied the allegations. While Masterson was eventually fired from Netflix’s The Ranch in response to the

The hardscrabble biography of Democrat Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been called into question after the revelation that she grew up mostly in wealthy Westchester County. Though Ocasio-Cortez, 28, was born in and currently lives in the Bronx, county land records show her late father Sergio Cortez-Roman bought a quaint three-bedroom in Yorktown Heights, New York in 1991, when she was about two. It is an apparent contradiction with the candidate´s official biography, which states in part: ´The state of Bronx public schools in the late 80s and early 90s sent her parents on a search for a solution. One of the more devastating intelligence leaks in American history — the unmasking of the CIA’s arsenal of cyber warfare weapons last year — has an untold prelude worthy of a spy novel. Some of the characters are household names, thanks to the Russia scandal: James Comey, fired FBI director. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Department of Justice (DOJ) official Bruce Ohr. Julian Assange, grand master of WikiLeaks. And American attorney Adam Waldman, who has a Forrest Gump-like penchant for showing up in major cases of intrigue.

Why does the State Department block the publication of the congressional investigation of Palestinian texts taught in schools run by the United Nations? That is the question two years after the chairman of the Senate’s Near East subcommitee, James Risch, asked Congress’s Government Accountability Office to look at the schoolbooks now used by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. Senator Risch ordered the study after Idaho constituents introduced him to the findings of the Center for Near East Policy Research, which purchases, translates and evaluates all schoolbooks that Palestinian Arab children learn in all UNRWA

Kirstjen Nielsen, President Donald Trump’s secretary of Homeland Security, emerged on Monday as the face of the administration’s “zero tolerance” border policy — though internally, she is not seen as a supporter. Nielsen made a rare and hastily arranged appearance in the White House briefing room on Monday afternoon, where she defended the separation of nearly 2,000 children from their parents. The struggle to uncover the FBI´s conduct in the Trump-Russia probe has made some congressional investigators deeply suspicious of the bureau. But what do those investigators think the FBI actually did in its investigation of the Trump campaign, Russia, and the 2016 election? First, they´re convinced the FBI has something to hide. In the last 12 months, the bureau has, at various times, ignored, slow-walked, resisted, and downright stonewalled congressional requests, not to mention subpoenas, for information on the Trump-Russia investigation. Each time the bureau hunkered down, suspicion grew on Capitol Hill. The FBI seemed particularly reluctant to reveal to Congress not

The royal father and son apparently shared their desire to not take part in the arrangements during informal discussions regarding the president’s four-day tour. Trump’s trip was not a state visit and so only the Queen greeted the president and his wife Melania. However even on working trips dignitaries expect to see more members of the royal family than only the Queen.
