Former first lady Barbara Bush, 92, decided Sunday to focus on comfort care in the face of her failing health, rather than additional medical treatment. “Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment, and instead will focus on comfort care,” read a statement from the office of George H. W. Bush. Bush has been in an out of the hospital the past year battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure. I can understand how she feels. My 92yr old mother was in the hospital for a week, just came home last Tuesday and she is ready to refuse anymore treatment for anything.
Her doctor and I had a little discussion about her DNR, I said I didn´t agree with it and he asked me if I would respect her wishes and I told him I would.

Barbara Bush gets my vote as the funniest First Lady in living memory. While giving a speech to a group of plastic surgeons at a conference, she told them she was worried beforehand that when she came out to speak, they´d rush the stage.

I always thought she was a classy First Lady, and I wish her well. This has to be a tough time for her and her family.

I voted for both Bushes (1988, 1992, 2000, 2004) and thought them to be better than the Democrats opposing them would have been. They were that, albeit in some disappointing ways. Barbara and her husband (Bush 41) are approaching the ends of their lives. My disagreements with them notwithstanding, they have always been honorable Americans. God bless them both.

At some point, trying to wring a few more weeks out of a used up body is more trouble than it´s worth. Often the treatments are worse than letting nature take it´s course.

By November 2016 I was so sick of hearing that bloated ego make everything about himself that I couldn´t much care who replaced him, as long as he was gone.

My nephew (from another part of the country) visited her 3 weeks before she died. When she realized that he was visiting her, the smile jumped off her face.

President Trump arrived back in America to calls of ´treason´ after his heavily-criticized summit with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. Trump´s critics and some of his allies lined up to bash the President after he appeared to side with Putin over his own security services when asked about Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Former CIA director John Brennan said Trump´s remarks were ´treasonous´ while Newt Gingrich, usually a supporter of Trump, accused him of making ´the most serious mistake of his presidency´. None of that criticism was leveled at Trump as he went on Fox for a sympathetic interview with

In the House and Senate races, Democrats are stealthily pouring in tons of money early to demonize Republican candidates before our supporters become engaged. It was 1979. I was 17 years old and I had the opportunity to visit the divided city of Berlin, Germany. Berlin was split in two, making the contrasts within the artificially-divided city incredibly stark. There was the free West Berlin, and there was the socialist East Berlin. A wall separated the two to prevent people in the socialist East from escaping to the free West. People in the East risked death to escape from its unnatural, godless shackles and the ever-present Stasi, the secret police that spied on the people. Don’t get me wrong. People in East Germany were

Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the new darling of the Democratic party. In a recent interview, however, the upstart politico running in a hyper-liberal district in New York did not show command of the issues. Ocasio-Cortez was being interviewed by Margaret Hoover on the PBS show ‘Firing Line.’ Hoover asked very basic, softball questions of the young congressional candidate.
