Famed gay rights lawyer sets
himself on fire at Prospect Park
in protest suicide against fossil fuels

A nationally known advocate for gay rights and the environment died Saturday in a fiery Prospect Park suicide, with his self-immolation meant as a wake-up call to save the planet. The charred remains of David Buckel, 60, were discovered shortly after sunrise when firefighters responded to a 6:40 a.m. blaze in the southwest corner of the sprawling Brooklyn park. “I am David Buckel and I just killed myself by fire as a protest suicide,” read a hand-written suicide note left near the blackened circle of burned grass. “I apologize to you for the mess.” A second, longer note — left with the first

We don’t give the coveted Darwin to idiots who take themselves out over stupidity. For this moron the permanent solution to a non problem seems fitting. I hope others join him in the ultimate sacrifice to save Earth from nothing but their own ideas and perceptions of reality as they see it.

Am I right to be thinking that the more politically attached a person seems the more that person may be unbalanced mentally? Yes, politics affect our everyday lives - too much now-a-days! But it is not the end all & be all. There has to be a leveling - to gain a sense that there is more to life than the material and the drive for some imaginary political power & a utopia. Most of us watch the national power plays between the political parties & the business interests knowing we have little or no leverage to change anything. Yet this poor soul was so emotionally invested that he committed suicide - thinking that his death would make a ´statement´?

just reading about the activities this man was involved in, all pushing the homosexual agenda on normal and decent people, he must have been in a really dark place mentally.
I feel sorry for those who witnessed this horrible act and saw his body. Eight years ago I found a neighbor in his front yard dead from a heart attack and it was pretty shocking. Can´t imagine the nightmares these people will have.
I pray he has found some peace now.

But he clearly took his faith seriously.

On the other hand, he was deluded. And it´s sad, because he threw away his life so foolishly on account of the obstinance of his ignorance.

I appreciate that this must sound like a broken record that simply keeps repeating itself, but why should anyone care for such a person in light of the true reality that during the hours and minutes that he contemplated his final act, that hundreds of innocent, defenseless lives were purposefully taken via abortion on demand. Roe v wade fairly demolished the bedrock moral belief that all human life has a value. So in light of the national approval and acceptance, under law, that this is no longer the case, then his life and all others have no meaning or value, PERIOD.

With all the treason-shrieking and media howls about supposed Russian interference in the 2016 election, it was refreshing to hear Fox News host Tucker Carlson pour some cold water onto this fever swamp. Here was Carlson, last night: Carlson brings some needed perspective to what goes on in international affairs: Nations don’t have friends, or even enemies; just interests. There was a famous quote from 19th century U.K. Prime Minister Lord Palmerston that phrased it well: “England has no eternal friends, England has no perpetual enemies, England has only eternal and perpetual interests.” By contrast, America is the home of one

HILO, Hawaii -- A volcanic explosion sent a lava bomb crashing through the roof of a tour boat off Hawaii´s Big Island, injuring 23 people, officials said. According to the Hawaii County Fire Department, the incident occurred early Monday morning. A lava bomb flew through the air and punctured the roof of the boat, leaving a large gaping hole in the vessel and damaging one of the boat´s railings. They were aboard a tour boat that takes visitors to see lava plunging into the ocean from a volcano that has been erupting for two months. The boat managed to return to Wailoa Harbor in

American politics have borrowed a lot of ideas from sports. Nowadays, everyone has become familiar with certain phrases that we use in everyday life, often without even thinking about their origins. For example, the phrase "pull no punches" originated in boxing, and the proverbial "drop the ball” came from football. The well-known rule of "three strikes and you´re out" came from baseball. The latter is the best way to characterize President Trump´s attitude toward Vladimir Putin. It seems that leftists in America still cannot forgive Putin for the destruction of the ideals that were nurtured in the West by the Soviet

Good thing she never met Bill Buckley, because on PBS´s current version of his old show, Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, she came out looking like an idiot. Our Constitution forbids the creation of “titles of nobility.” The Framers thought it was important enough that the prohibition appears twice, once forbidding the federal government from doing it, and elsewhere extending the ban to the states. And Americans, to the extent that they give the question any thought at all, probably think that the ban works: After all, nobody’s squiring about the United States, sporting titles like Duke of Pennsylvania or Earl of Internal Revenue. But now I’m wondering if we don’t have a problem. First, Charles C.W. Cooke, a Brit who just recently became an American citizen, noted the practice

Long-simmering ethnic tensions in a party increasingly defined by identity politics could erupt if Nancy Pelosi’s mental decline forces her to bow out of her leadership of the Democrats’ House Caucus. So Donald Trump went to a NATO summit, insulted our allies, then made the absurd demand not just that they increase defense spending — which they should — but that they raise it to 4 percent of G.D.P., much higher than the bloated military spending in his own budget. He then claimed, falsely, to have won major concessions, and graciously declared that it is “presently unnecessary” to consider quitting the alliance. Was there anything our allies could have done that would have mollified him? The answer, surely, is no. For Trump, disrupting NATO doesn’t seem to be a means to an

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said the streets of her city are flooded with the excrement of the homeless in an interview Friday. Breed, a Democrat who was inaugurated as San Francisco’s mayor Wednesday, urged homeless advocacy groups that receive money from the city to teach homeless people to “clean up after themselves.” “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” Breed told KNTV. “That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.” The streets of San Francisco are littered with a “dangerous

Whether Democrats realize it or not, the names being tossed as potential 2020 challengers to President Trump are weak. It’s milquetoast. All far too left for the American voter, and all with rigid regional appeal. Who knows who Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is outside of New Jersey? The same could be said for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) doesn’t resonate outside of the Boston suburbs. And Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), well, she’s working hard to boost her profile, but she’s running aground with the Bernie crowd. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) could run again, but his age—and the

President Donald Trump’s comments during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday were “treasonous,” former CIA Director John Brennan asserted. “Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors,’” Brennan, a vocal Trump critic, wrote on Twitter. “It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???” Trump and Putin fielded questions from reporters at a joint summit in Helsinki following a one-on-one meeting earlier in the day. Trump praised Putin during

The body of John Hearring -- known as Nicholas -- was discovered with head trauma in his upstairs apartment in the 1000-block of North Leamington Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. Multiple family members confirmed that he had 43 children. Hearring was a long-time resident there and well-known in the neighborhood. "He was the nicest man you´d ever want to meet. I don´t get it. All this killing is so senseless and now they are targeting the elderly," said Gwen Bridgeforth, his daughter-in-law.
