I Ran U.S. Border Patrol—And I Support
Trump´s Call to Deploy the National Guard

Atlantic, by David Aguilar

In 2006, as the national chief of the Border Patrol, I welcomed the assignment of roughly 6,000 National Guardsmen to serve as a force multiplier to the then-9,000 Border Patrol agents on duty along the U.S.-Mexico border. It was the right call to make at the time. The influx of drugs, illegal immigration, and criminal organizations was overwhelming the agency, and cartel violence was at its peak on the south side of the border with Mexico. Some have criticized President Trump’s decision to deploy the Guard, but based on my own experience, these troops will be of tremendous benefit along the

As far as I’m concerned the Central Americans’ country of origin is Mexico. That’s where they crossed the border into the U.S. I’m not sure why we keep letting Mexico off the hook.

Good article. The media usually ignores these current realities of the borders and instead tends to focus on the peaceful border life of 30 years ago, which was which came with the increase of drug & human trafficking and the threats now confronting the country from terrorism. Many immigration attorneys unscrupulously also ignore these current realities.

The job of the Border Patrol to accomplish their duty of enforcing immigration law and keeping the borders secure is very clear in the oath each one willingly takes when undertaking this serious responsibility to serve our country. Anyone can see that it is not an easy job, demanding & often thankless, while at the same time rewarding for those of integrity, understanding & respect for the law, personal courage & discernment and who want to serve the country, save some lives along the way and keep the USA safe & secure.

Judge won’t tell El Chapo who ratted him out

Here are a few people who will be sleeping a little easier tonight. A Brooklyn federal judge ruled Friday that accused Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman won’t be getting the names of the confidential informants who ratted him out. The order from Judge Brian Cogan came after Guzman’s lawyers asked that prosecutors overseeing his upcoming drug-trafficking trial provide more than just summaries of the evidence they’ve collected. Defense lawyer Eduardo Balarezo argued in a previously filed motion that the information they’ve been given is “utterly insufficient.” “For example, the government’s disclosures merely state that it has ‘information,’ from

Leandra English is dropping her legal fight to temporarily lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and will step down as the agency’s deputy director, she and her attorney announced Friday. English said in a statement that she made the decision in light of President Trump’s nomination last month of Kathy Kraninger to be the CFPB’s permanent director. English said she will leave the bureau next week and told her bureau colleagues, “It has been an honor to work alongside you.” English went to court last year after Trump appointed Mick Mulvaney as acting director, arguing that the Dodd-Frank law mandated that as

A proposed plan to rescue the boys soccer team trapped in a partly flooded cave in northern Thailand could launch as soon as this weekend, ABC News has learned. According to an internal U.S. government report obtained by ABC News, the Royal Thai Navy, supported by divers from the United Kingdom, the United States and other nations, has briefed Thai military leadership, interior ministry officials and the provincial governor on a proposed operation to evacuate the 12 boys and their coach from the miles-long cave in Chiang Rai province, alongside experienced divers in what is being called a “buddy dive.”

Liberal states impose new individual

Last year’s sweeping Republican tax bill killed the federal tax penalty for individuals who refuse to get health insurance as mandated under ObamaCare. But as that penalty disappears for Americans in January, a growing number of liberal states are moving to enact their own individual mandates requiring residents to purchase health insurance – a last-ditch effort to preserve a critical part of former President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care law. Since Republicans passed the tax bill in December, New Jersey, Vermont and Washington, D.C., have passed laws enacting an individual mandate, joining Massachusetts, which famously enacted an individual mandate while Mitt Romney

The greatest match that never was almost took place on July 3 in Las Vegas, a prime-time TV special that was to have pitted Tiger Woods against Phil Mickelson in a $10 million winner-take-all, 18-hole death match. The negotiations, involving a major television network and various corporate entities, couldn´t quite be consummated in time but Woods and Mickelson and their people remain committed to making it happen as soon as it´s feasible. "We´re working on a different date," Mickelson said on Thursday. "I thought it was done for the 3rd but obviously it wasn´t." Woods´s representatives declined to comment. The

Multiple reviews of whether FBI agents’ political bias affected the Russia-Trump collusion case remain in their infancy, but investigators already have unearthed troubling internal communications long withheld from public view. We already know from FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok’s now-infamous text messages with his fellow agent and reported lover, Lisa Page, that Strzok — the man driving that Russia collusion investigation — disdained Donald Trump and expressed willingness to use his law enforcement powers to “stop” the Republican from becoming president. The question that lingers, unanswered: Did those sentiments affect official actions? Memos the FBI is now producing to the Department of Justice

One curious aspect of public corruption is that it has its own memorabilia. The Cartier jewelry, the Cadillacs, the furs — all bought with ill-gotten gains and often with taxpayer money. In Ukraine, where it seems corrupt politicians outnumber bowls of borscht, European Union officials have put the kitsch of corruption on display. They opened “Corruption Park” at a botanical garden in the capital, Kiev. Visitors have explored finery from the depths of Ukrainian greed and graft — a $46,000 crystal falcon, a $300,000 limited edition BMW and a replica of a $9 million chandelier. Which raises the question: Why can’t Illinois

The extent to which Roe v. Wade has come to dominate American politics can be found in the anguished cries that followed the announcement of Justice Anthony M. Kennedy’s retirement from the Supreme Court. There are other issues that people care about, but Roe forms the centerpiece of any discussion about what a post-Kennedy court might look like. I am myself uneasily pro-choice. Moreover, just a few days ago, I argued that the increasingly bitter judicial wars tearing apart today’s politics can only be ended with more judicial deference to legislatures and to precedent. It stands to reason that I would

Mitt Romney spoke out against "trade wars" on Friday after President Trump imposed tariffs on $34 billion of Chinese imports, prompting Beijing to respond with its own tariffs on U.S. goods. “Trade wars are a tax on Americans. Romney said trade wars are particularly punishing for agriculture, which is a sector in Utah the former GOP presidential contender said is “already under duress from wildfire, drought, and challenging public land policies.” “Our national objective should be to open new markets, negotiate free
