Streets of Cancun run red
with 14 murders in 36 hours

Mexico’s most popular holiday hotspot has become overrun with drug gangs, as violence in the tourist party town escalates to unprecedented levels. Cancun has seen 14 murders in just 36 hours — the highest ever in the country’s recorded history, according to Noticaribe. The latest violence on April 4 saw 14 people killed and at least five others left with gunshot wounds, in six separate instances in the party town. The figures surpass Cancun’s previous record of nine killings in a day, which was set on Nov. 25, 2004. More than 100 people have been slaughtered in Cancun since the beginning of 2018,

Comments:
The Mexican police and military cannot contain the violence even near the tourist zones, and remember, Mexico has among the most strict gun control laws in the world. Meanwhile, The Donald and few others want to keep this action on their side of the border.

Luckily Cruise ships do not go to Cancun otherwise they´d have 10´s of thousands of new targets daily.

I do not know why this isn´t being reported?

It´s so important for American´s to understand what is going on to keep their families safe and stay away from Mexico.

I read the article and it is unclear who were the targets, who were the perpetrators and what were the motives.

Absent these details, how do we know that tourists are unsafe. Tourist resorts in many places of Mexico have very intense military, police and private security presence that are armed. Their Constitution allows for this.

Tourism is Mexico´s #1 export...they do not want to damage their legal source of income.

It is often that tourists venture outside a resort or do not take a licensed tour that they are vulnerable to crime.

The number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh jumping the border to sneak into the U.S. is on pace to double in the Laredo region of Texas, officials said Wednesday, in what is the latest worrying surge of migration from a country with terrorism dangers. The illegal immigrants pay up to $27,000 to international smuggling organizations to ferry them from Asia into the western hemisphere, where they make their way up through Central America and Mexico to the U.S. border, where they’re led across the Rio Grande. Another four Bangladeshis were nabbed in the Border Patrol’s Laredo Sector on Wednesday, bringing the total

New York — The voting rights of tens of thousands of disenfranchised parolees were restored under an executive order from Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday. New York will be one of just 14 states that allow people to vote after they’ve served time in prison. Cuomo noted that 75 percent of parolees in the state are black or Latino and voting restrictions disproportionately impact African American and Hispanic communities. “It is unconscionable to deny voting rights to New Yorkers who have paid their debt and have re-entered society,” Cuomo said. “This reform will reduce disenfranchisement and will help restore justice and fairness

Retiring GOP Sen. Bob Corker had some unusually warm words for the Democrat running for his job in November, saying Wednesday he would not campaign against former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen this fall. In one of the pivotal races for control of the Senate, Mr. Corker told a Christian Science Monitor breakfast he would vote for presumptive Republican nominee Rep. Marsha Blackburn, but he would not actively stump against the Democrat. “I don’t plan to campaign against a friend,” Mr Corker said. The Tennessee seat has emerged as an unexpected pickup opportunity for Democrats seeking to overturn the current 51-49 GOP

The Armed Forces have a shortfall of 8,200 regular troops in the ‘largest gap in a decade’, Whitehall’s spending watchdog says. The military was so understaffed in critical areas such as intelligence that operations could not be carried out without cancelling leave or training. There was a 26 per cent shortfall in intelligence analysts last year, according to the National Audit Office (NAO) – even as the Ministry of Defence tries to bolster its cyber capabilities. The report said this was because of increasing demand for analysts and difficulties persuading troops to stay in the military. It comes as alarm grows over

The IRS gave taxpayers an additional day to file their returns — until midnight Wednesday — after the agency sustained a major breakdown that left its systems unable to accept online filings or payments for much of Tuesday. The embarrassing chaos left agency leaders struggling for an explanation and forced them to apologize for bungling the biggest day of the year. It comes just as the agency begins to carry out Republicans’ tax cut law. Returns and payments for the 2017 tax year now must be filed before midnight Wednesday, the agency said. The grace period applies to both businesses and individuals.

Former FBI Director James B. He has been a lifelong Republican and said that in today’s party, the only Republican he does respect is former 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney. He called Mr. Romney, who is running for the open Senate seat in Utah, a “person of principle and honor.”

Washington - Dozens of Democratic U.S. Senators on Wednesday introduced a resolution calling for Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt to resign on allegations of ethics lapses. Those relate to the agency’s purchase of a $43,000 sound booth for his office and spending on travel and security. The resolution was signed by 39 senators in the 100-member Senate, which is controlled by Pruitt’s fellow Republicans. Although Republicans can defeat it, the resolution is symbolically important because it represents the most senators ever to call for a Cabinet member’s ouster in resolution, its sponsors said.
