The raid on Trump’s lawyer:
Why? And why now?

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

In the absence of any public statements from Robert Mueller’s team or the FBI or DOJ – just leaks to pet media outlets – we can only speculate as to the motives for a thermonuclear escalation of tactics being used against President Trump, in the effort to reverse the presidential election of 2016. (snip) Presdent Trump was negotiating conditions for his interview with the special counsel that were restrictive as to what could be asked. Perhaps Mueller determined that it was unlikley to be productive. This raid now virtually precludes such an interview being agreed to. This will enable Mueller

Because the Big Ugly is coming and they know it. The IG and the outside prosecutor are going to blow the FBI and the DoJ wide open, painstakingly, thoroughly. Sounds as though it is shaping up to be far more than just the usual special counsel minuet, a dance that goes nowhere.

This is a pathetic attempt at a preemptive strike. Sound and fury signifying nothing.

If privileged documents were seized from a lawyer´s office pursuant to a warrantless search, Trump´s lawyer should seek a writ of replevin. The documents would then be held by the U.S. Marshal´s office pending a judicial hearing. Because the court may not actually review the documents, even "in camera" (privately) if the attorney/client privilege is asserted, the hearing would largely be a determination whether the documents were seized without a warrant.

It is extremely doubtful a court would have issued a warrant for privileged documents during an investigation. If it did so, the attorneys could file a motion to quash. If denied, they could seek a writ of supersedeas from the circuit court. It seems pretty clear that Trump would win.

It is looking like a half-dozen or dozen people are flirting with treason. And potential execution. Of course this would require an uprising of WTP. Of course this is unlikely but it could happen if enough people take to the streets because of the rampant corruption at FBI DOJ CIA EPA DNI etc.

The search warrant was not requested by Mueller. He had evidence of criminal conduct by Cohen and handed it off to the US Attorney for the Southern District of NY. Used to be Preet Bahrara, Trump fired him. This guy is a lifelong Republican, former Law partner of Rudy Guiluani, contributed $5400 to Trump´s campaign, and PDT appointed him in Jan, 2017. It takes a lot of real evidence of a crime to get a warrant to search a lawyer´s files, especially when his client is the freaking PRESIDENT. Cohen is going down in flames and he may take PDT with him. We need to wake up to the facts that Trump does NOT hire the BEST people.

I was angered and baffled, and after a while yesterday, I came to roughly the same conclusion as Lifson, that Mueller is TRYING to get fired, since he has zero, zip, nada in his fool´;s errand fake investigation and is trying to force Trump to do something dramatic, rather than to go out with a wimper.

FTA:
"My strong suspicion is that, having failed to find anything related to his mandate, Robert Mueller is baiting the president to fire him. By stepping over the line and fishing for evidence in confidential and privileged attorney-client relations, he is misbehaving, but doing so through a cut-out, the U.S. attorney in New York. He wants the firestorm that would result to push control of Congress into Democrat hands.

"Judge hands defeat to Trump and Cohen," blares the headline. Kimba Wood...Kimba Wood...where have I heard that name before? Well, look at this. She was Bill Clinton´s second choice to be attorney general, after the Zoe Baird nomination blew up. Kimba´s blew up, too, because she forgot to tell the White House she had employed an illegal as a nanny. Is this amazingly great luck for the Mueller-U.S. attorney tag team or what? I restrained myself from commenting on the suicide to protest global warming of “famed gay rights lawyer” David Buckel for the last two days because, quite frankly, my first reactions were inappropriate laughter at what must be regarded as a human tragedy. “What was the carbon footprint of dousing himself in flammables and releasing into the atmosphere all the carbon in a carbon-based life form?” was the first thought I had. But after all, this is a human being, so I hesitated to mock. After some reflection, I see that this is a tragedy the Greek sense of the word,

The day that James Comey cashed the multi-million dollar advance check from MacMillan Publishers will turn out to mark the date that we can call “Peak Comey.” It was all downhill from the instant the ink started drying on his signature on the back of the check. Advice to Trump: Make

If Special Counsel Robert Mueller believed he had actionable grounds to suspect Pres. Trump of some crime that Mueller was authorized to investigate, he should have raided Trump´s home and offices, not the offices of Trump´s attorney, Michael Cohen. When Mueller seized Cohen´s records, he was seizing privileged information between a lawyer and not only his one client, Donald Trump, but also such privileged information from Cohen and all his clients. Mueller was not only doing potentially serious damage to Cohen´s profession, but also violating a bedrock principle – client-attorney confidentiality – on which our legal system stands. When Pres.

Former FBI Director James B. He has been a lifelong Republican and said that in today’s party, the only Republican he does respect is former 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Washington - Dozens of Democratic U.S. Senators on Wednesday introduced a resolution calling for Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt to resign on allegations of ethics lapses. Those relate to the agency’s purchase of a $43,000 sound booth for his office and spending on travel and security. The resolution was signed by 39 senators in the 100-member Senate, which is controlled by Pruitt’s fellow Republicans. Although Republicans can defeat it, the resolution is symbolically important because it represents the most senators ever to call for a Cabinet member’s ouster in resolution, its sponsors said.
