Rick Perry Says This New Cyber
Security Office Can Protect The
US Grid From Russia. But Can It?

Daily Caller, by Tim Pearce

Energy Secretary Rick Perry claimed Tuesday that a new office created under his agency could defend the U.S. energy grid against cyber attacks from hostile powers such as Russia. The new agency, the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response (CESER), was announced in February, however, Perry discussed it again during a Senate hearing in front of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. Perry attended the hearing to defend his department’s budget for Fiscal Year 2019. “Last year I promised to step up and maintain America’s energy infrastructure in the face of all hazards,” Perry said. “So this year, we

This is excellent news if it does in fact protect us. It is long past time that those worthless hacks in DC worked to protect this nation instead of all the bickering and backbiting. Their negligence in that regard is sickening. If Obama was such a wonderful president why didn´t he do anything? Oh that´s right........

This whole ´take down the grid´ thing is largely BS.

A reporter recently talked to the folks running Wolf Creek nuke power plant near here, incidentally the lowest cost nuke plant, and best run in the nation. They said that their powerplant systems are never connected to the net.
Never have been.

´The grid´, as one thing, is a myth, too. It is dozens and dozens of small networks who work together, and are ready to instantly disconnect at any sign of problems on the larger grid .

Ace Hardware decided to continue advertising on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News program after initially caving to a boycott targeting the conservative host. An Ace spokeswoman backtracked Thursday on an April 5 statement the company made, announcing the initial decision to cut advertising from the “Ingraham Angle.” “The information we had at the time of the initial request was incomplete, and we apologize for that,” the spokeswoman told The Wrap in an email. The company has not “altered our current media schedule,” she said, adding Ace “regularly reviews our media strategy.” Ace was singing a different tune in a statement announcing its initial decision

When you hear the words ´government transparency,´ you probably think of open meeting requirements, internet databases of public records, lobbying disclosures, and so on. You probably wouldn´t think of government offices being literally transparent—unless you´re Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.). In yesterday´s House Financial Services Committee, Ellison lambasted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Mick Mulvaney for frosting the glass of his office space in the bureau´s D.C. headquarters. "You are the champion of transparency, right?" Ellison grilled the director. "And yet you have obscured yourself physically! And I find that to be ironic, sir." Mulvaney said that the conversion of

The FBI seized recordings President Donald Trump´s attorney made of his conversations with a lawyer representing two women who had alleged affairs with Trump, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN. The recordings could prove valuable to the government´s criminal investigation of Michael Cohen. The President´s personal attorney is under scrutiny in part for his role in seeking to suppress the alleged affair through a hush deal with porn star Stormy Daniels. The warrant sought information about that payment along with any information that connected Cohen with efforts to suppress disclosure of Trump´s alleged affair with Playboy model Karen

NEW YORK — President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen has been under criminal investigation for months by federal prosecutors who empaneled a grand jury to probe his business dealings beyond his law practice, according to a new court filing. Prosecutors revealed the new details about the Cohen investigation after his lawyer appeared in court seeking to temporarily bar prosecutors from reviewing materials that FBI agents seized in a search this week of Cohen’s office, home and hotel room. After three separate hearings on the matter Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Kimba Wood indicated that she did not have enough information to issue

A New Yorker article is under fire for calling Chick-fil-A "creepy" and criticizing what the author calls the chain´s "pervasive Christian traditionalism." On Friday, The New Yorker published an article with the headline "Chick-fil-A´s Creepy Infiltration of New York City." In the piece, writer Dan Piepenbring examines the growth of Chick-fil-A in New York City— where the chicken chain has four locations — and found the expansion to be a culturally dangerous one. (Snip) Piepenbring argues that the chain´s sense of community rings false, and he takes issue with Chick-fil-A´s cow mascot. The backlash to the article on social media

Disruptions of conservative speakers, even at law schools, has become a common tactic. We’ve documented dozens of such incidents. The tactic, even when it doesn’t prevent the speech completely, is not merely the expression of disagreement. It’s an infringement of the speaker’s right to speak, and the audience’s right to hear that speech. But it’s more. It’s meant to create a toxic campus atmosphere in which there is a price tag to expressing non-progressive ideas. It just happened again, to conservative law professor Josh Blackman from Southern Texas College of Law in Houston. Blackman has established himself as a leading

WASHINGTON The Justice Department special counsel has evidence that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and confidant, Michael Cohen, secretly made a late-summer trip to Prague during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Confirmation of the trip would lend credence to a retired British spy’s report that Cohen strategized there with a powerful Kremlin figure about Russian meddling in the U.S. election. It would also be one of the most significant developments thus far in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of whether the Trump campaign and the Kremlin worked together to help Trump win the White House.
