Why Megyn Kelly´s NBC show is a flop

After making a name for herself at Fox News, in large part thanks to her headline-making feud with Donald Trump, Megyn Kelly was courted by NBC and offered a reported $23 million per year to bring her star power to the Peacock Network. This made her the highest-paid anchor at NBC following Matt Lauer´s departure, but unfortunately, courting Kelly may not have been a smart investment.  Her first attempt at success, a Sunday night news magazine dubbed Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, debuted in June 2017 and soon proved to be a flop. Come September, the network moved her to a daily talk

When you have no real core or when your core is fabricated, when you have an outsized ego and no reason to have it, when you think the world revolves around you, this is what happens. Megyn Kelly got a rude awakening and was thrust out of her New York City/Washington bubble and just couldn’t cope.

Open letter to Megyn Kelly: Look in the mirror closely and be what you are, not what you think you are or what others want you to be. Be genuine and let the chips fall where they may.

Completely disagree with the very first sentence. Kelly was doing great at Fox, first in the morning and then with her own evening show. She came across as a whip-smart, witty, all-American girl type who epitomized the network´s "fair and balanced" motto. It was when she turned more partisan, focused more on herself, tried to be "edgy", and changed her appearance to less like middle America and more like New York elitist that she began to lose people... like me. Some people can reinvent themselves. Some can´t. It probably helps if the new version is is more attractive than the old. Kelly´s wasn´t.

Kelly started out doing good work and good presentations which made her popular on Fox. Then she became arrogant and started pushing the Kelly agenda instead of the peoples agenda and fell through the floor.

I agree with the above posters on the early Megyn Kelly and the change she underwent by the time her morning show debuted. That being said, in the dust-up between her and Jane Fonda since both are so disagreeable I´d call that one a draw.

Her original popularity was with conservatives, so liberals don´t like her.
She infuriated many conservatives by trying to influence the outcome of a primary debate, so conservatives don´t like her.
It is not hard to understand why she has no following now?!

Megyn Kelly and NBC...good fit. The only time I have liked anything about Megyn Kelly is when she stood up to Jane Fonda. Good for her. As for Debra Messing...she is a horrible actress and a horrible person. For such a rotten actress, she has gotten a lot of shows (most of which bombed) How in the world did such an poor actress manage to get so many of her own shows?

First of all, I will admit to watching Megyn a couple times a week (depending who she has on the Show). I find she is doing a good job against all odds. It´s obvious everyone at NBC is bent out of shape because of the Money she was OFFERED. Like any of them would have turned it down! So they´re acting like the Mean Girls Club towards her. Also, it´s clear that the writer of this article is a Flaming Lib who accuses Kelly of being a Racist among other things. She isn´t Racist! Now, I hated the mess she created with Trump during the Campaign. That was unfortunate. I just don´t think I should forever hold that against her. Trump played a part in that mess as well and we´ve forgiven him! So, I will continue to watch her show occasionally and make up my own mind on how she is doing. Right now, I enjoy her show. I did see the show when Fonda was on and my take was Fonda was a Snot from beginning to end. She really did think her poop was made of Ice Cream! Personally, I thought SHE was rude to Kelly, not the other way around!

Even with her dust-up with Trump (let´s face it, although I like President Trump now -- and I didn´t for the past 30 years -- he can be a difficult person to deal with or work for), I thought she did pretty well at FNC.

Can´t blame her for taking the money and run. NBC hired her with no earthly idea on what her role would be at the network and just threw money at her. You and I would grab it, too.

For the short term, she´s making bank. But she´s killed her long term career and after NBC dumps her at the end of this contract, she´ll be doing infomercials.

Which is too bad. She was easy on the eyes and always wore the latest party dresses.

But since she´s at NBC, I never see her anymore.

What NBC has failed to grasp is that Megyn Kelly is hated on the left because of her association with Fox News and is not any more popular with the right due to the ego and arrogance that led her to publicly pick a fight with Donald Trump - a stupid feud that she had no chance of winning.

As I reported here, the Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission last year alleging that Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee violated campaign finance laws by not revealing their payments to Fusion GPS. In an October 25, 2017 filing with the FEC, the watchdog group accused the Hillary for America campaign and DNC of failing to “accurately disclose the purpose and recipient of payments for the dossier…effectively hiding these payments from public scrutiny.” The complaint was filed one day after the Washington Post confirmed that both entities paid Perkins Coie – a

President Donald Trump and his outside advisers are increasingly worried that his longtime personal attorney might be susceptible to cooperating with federal prosecutors. Two sources close to the president said people in Trump’s inner circle have in recent days been actively discussing the possibility that Michael Cohen — long seen as one of Trump’s most loyal personal allies — might flip if he faces serious charges as a result of his work on behalf of Trump. “That’s what they’ll threaten him with: life imprisonment,” said Alan Dershowitz, the liberal lawyer and frequent Trump defender who met with the president and his staff over

Jeffrey Goldberg’s announcement that The Atlantic had “parted ways” with our old friend Kevin Williamson — what a gutless way to announce you’ve fired someone, a week or so into the job — represents a successful effort to redefine “beyond the pale” in the political debates of 2018, or to close the Overton Window, if you prefer that metaphor.
