After months of back and forth, the Weinstein Company has officially filed for bankruptcy. The disgraced company, founded by Harvey Weinstein and brother Bob, was supposed to be sold to Maria Contreras-Sweet and an investor group before the deal fell apart several times. Weinstein Co. will be sold to Dallas-based Lantern Asset Management for between $300 million and $320 million, according to Variety. “The company hopes that this orderly sale process under the supervision of the Bankruptcy Court will allow it to maximize the value of the Company’s assets for the benefit of its creditors and other stakeholders,” the company

Scott Pruitt Will End EPA’s Use Of

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt will soon end his agency’s use of “secret science” to craft regulations. “We need to make sure their data and methodology are published as part of the record,” Pruitt said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Otherwise, it’s not transparent. It’s not objectively measured, and that’s important.” Pruitt will reverse long-standing EPA policy allowing regulators to rely on non-public scientific data in crafting rules. Such studies have been used to justify tens of billions of dollars worth of regulations. EPA regulators would only be allowed to consider scientific studies that make their

Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller is authorized to investigate "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump." The popular word for that is collusion, and it remains at the heart of both the Mueller and the Senate Intelligence Committee investigations. (Majority Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee recently announced they were unable to find evidence proving collusion.) While much about the Mueller investigation remains unknown, we do know the indictments he has filed and the pleas he has reached with various figures in the case. There are some, including charges against

Hillary Clinton reliving her presidential election sounds like Miss Havisham talking about her wedding day. They both, one senses, harbored great expectations that became great resentments. The letdown of the loss, of an office and of a husband, unleashed psychological torment. The latter copes by donning her bridal gown; the former, by periodically playing pundit pontificating on why a benighted electorate rejected her. Both characters exude a Dickensian quality in that they come across as such, well, characters. Around the time she tripped over her feet in India last weekend Mrs. Clinton tripped over her words. She blamed her electoral loss on

Announcing that she has filed for divorce from her husband, Donald Trump Jr., Vanessa Trump wrote: “We ask for your privacy at this time.” That isn’t quite what she meant — apparently, nobody in the Trump family ever will speak English as fluently as Melania — but the sentiment was predictable enough. Every divorce is a tragedy, and to act that tragedy out in public (news of the disunion first broke in the New York Post, of course) is going to be unpleasant for the Trumps. That being said: You buy the ticket, you take the ride. Vanessa Trump is hardly the

It’s been 4 years, Liz Warren. Take a DNA test

For the record, I’m pretty sure I was the first person in the media to demand that Sen. Elizabeth Warren take a DNA test. This is from my column, April 18, 2014: “There is only one way to settle once and for all the question of whether the fake Indian is or is not a real Indian. She needs to take a DNA test.” Before that, I was talking about DNA tests on my radio show, and generously offering to pay. So the fake Indian has been stonewalling for years. I’m through waiting for the fake Indian, although I think we all believe,

Barbra Streisand said she´s never suffered sexual harassment but has felt abused by the media. During a tribute to Streisand´s decades of TV music specials and other programs, producer and long-time admirer Ryan Murphy queried her about her career, the #MeToo movement and her aversion to interviews. ´Never,´ she replied when asked if she had been sexually mistreated. ´I wasn´t like those pretty girls with those nice little noses. Maybe that´s why.´ She acknowledged the power of protests against gender inequality sweeping through Hollywood and society.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Student survivors of Florida’s high school shooting took their message calling for greater gun safety measures abroad for the first time on Saturday, sharing with educational professionals from around the world their frightening experience. The Feb. 14 attack that killed 17 people, 14 of them students, became one of the deadliest schools shootings in U.S. history. The attack was carried out by a former student wielding an assault-style rifle who strode into one of the school buildings and opened fire. What is it about former Democratic presidents that they can’t leave the arena? They leave, then come back, then go quiet for a while, and just when you think you’ve gotten rid of them they spring back into the headlines again. Jimmy Carter set the example here. For nearly four decades the man’s been jetting around the world as though his presidency never ended—meeting with foreign leaders and dictators, offering his services as an election monitor in places where fair elections were certain not to happen, making critical and sometimes acerbic comments about his successors and their policies, insinuating himself

President Donald Trump has joined the legal fight over whether a woman is bound by an agreement she signed in 2016 to keep quiet about their alleged affair. Stephanie Clifford, the adult film performer and director known as Stormy Daniels, sued Trump and the company set up by longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen in 2016 to pay Clifford to keep quiet. Lawyers for that company, Essential Consultants (EC), filed a notice Friday afternoon in California to remove her case from state court to federal court and asserted that, under the 2016 agreement, they could seek damages of at least $20 million. About two years ago, I moved to San Francisco from Manhattan in order to pursue a position in economic research at the Hoover Institution. I had originally been working in finance, but welcomed with a special eagerness the opportunity to enter the realm of public policy. My only interaction with California had been limited to a week in the Piedmont-area of Oakland, California during my junior year of college. Over the course of that first visit, I experienced the “quintessential” San Francisco that characterizes most people’s expectations of the city. I bought colorful groceries at a quaint farmer’s market. I ate

Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano explained Monday why he believes the firing of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe could be viewed as "obstruction of justice." (Snip) Napolitano said he sees the firing as "reckless" and "vindictive" because McCabe is "more likely than not to be a witness" against Sessions´ boss, President Trump. "Firing him in that environment could very well be interpreted as an effort to diminish his effectiveness as a witness. What´s that called? Obstruction of justice," said Napolitano, adding he´s unsure if Special Counsel Robert Mueller will pursue such a case. Napolitano said on "America´s Newsroom"

Officials in a Minneapolis school district are trying to figure out why black students are suspended three times more often than their white peers, according to a Sunday report. Black students have a 338 percent higher chance than white students to be suspended at Justice Page Middle School in Minneapolis, Minn., according to The New York Times. Black students make up 41 percent of the Minneapolis school district’s student body, but 76 percent of its suspensions. The black students constantly tell the principal, “The teacher only sees me,” Justice Page Principal Erin Rathke said. She responds, “Yes, that’s probably true.”

SAN FRANCISCO — A woman in Tempe, Ariz., died after being hit by a self-driving car operated by Uber, in what appears to be the first known death of a pedestrian struck by an autonomous vehicle on public roads. The Uber vehicle was in autonomous mode with a human safety driver at the wheel when it struck the woman, who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, the Tempe police said in a statement. The episode occurred overnight, although the authorities did not specify whether it was late Sunday or early Monday. The woman was not publicly identified. An

Armed sheriff´s deputies appeared on the scene of the recent school massacre in Florida while kids were still being murdered inside. But the deputies failed to storm the building to apprehend the killer, to rescue the assaulted, to stop the bleeding and to comfort the dying. They failed to do their jobs. Instead, they cowered behind their patrol cars waiting for, well, apparently waiting for the shooting to stop. Some 150 bullets and 17 lives later, it finally did and the killer walked away. Only then did the deputies enter the building. About that, President Donald Trump characteristically said what he thought. He
