Flippy the Burger Flipping
Robot Mocks the Wage
Naivete of Left and Right

Real Clear Markets, by John Tamny

Original Article

Back when Ronald Reagan was president, he pointed to many pages worth of “Help Wanted” ads in the Washington Post as one of many pieces of evidence that his economic policies were working. His enemies on the left predictably responded that Reaganomics was merely producing jobs of the “burger flipper” variety. The market that was the voting booth revealed Reagan’s critics as hopelessly deluded: with elections always and everywhere about the economy, he won re-election in 1984 in landslide fashion, 49 states to 1. But to show readers just how similar and tribal left and right in the U.S. have become,

Comments:
Certainly the ignorance of the left. Good recollected anecdote about Reagan.

If the restaurant in only open 8 hours a day, 5 days a week a $15 employee costs them over $40K a year.
most fast food places are open at least 80 hours a week, bringing that number to over $80,000 a year.
A piece of business equipment that pays for itself in a little over a year is a very good investment.

Certainly correct about the problems with "entry level" labor. Because they don´t like the jobs there are high callouts, late arrivals, indifference, sudden departures leaving holes in coverage, etc.

The robot is on time, predictable, does the job as expected, doesn´t need breaks, doesn´t whine, and is easily replaced or updated. Further, the costs for the robot are well defined and predictable. Businesses LOVE well defined costs.

#3...the robot does the job better than a human
#2:::kudos to your eval. Workers also have “benefits”, including the 15% or so SS paid in their wages, unemployment taxes, the hidden costs to keep a backup flipper on standby in case he/she does not show up, some small amount of ligation costs and litigation avoidance costs, the costs of avoiding eeoc complaints. $100 k for the robot, even with $20 k per maintenance, is a bargain. And future burger flippers will be cheaper

Seems like a much simpler machine could do this very well. Robot arms seems like a way expensive way to accomplish this.

´Homophobic and not very clever´:
why p--- chants haunt Mexican football
Guardian, by Victor Balta    Original Article

You can say this for Mexican soccer fans: they’ve managed to turn one of football’s least dramatic moments into one of its more controversial and offensive. The pattern is familiar. The opponent’s goalkeeper lines up a goalkick and the chant begins: “Ehhhh…” Then Mexican fans’ voices rise in unison until the kick prompts a cry of “p---!” The term is homophobic slang for a male sex worker. And its use by fans at matches from Mexico City to California and now Russia continues to give Fifa and the Mexican federation headaches. On Monday, Fifa announced it has opened a disciplinary procedure

Former first lady Laura Bush is out politicking against our current president on immigration as yet another political backseat driver, quite against the established precedent. Her big essay in the Washington Post, blasting the Trump administration for its separation of families crossing the border illegally, is something the leftish political mavens at Axios consider "potentially game-changing." Yet it is particularly hypocritical, given how she and her husband (she´s gotten on her only soapbox only because of whom she married) considered President Obama and the Obama administration, no matter what they did, off limits. He "deserves my silence," as former President

Laura Bush is publicly supporting the Democrats´ BS propaganda effort, hand-wringing over the poor "immigrants" (make that illegal immigrant law-breakers) who are arrested and therefore separated from the children. She wrote a column for the Trump-hating Washington Bezos Post that is getting major attention from all the other Trump-haters: On Sunday, a day we as a nation set aside to honor fathers and the bonds of family, I was among the millions of Americans who watched images of children who have been torn from their parents. In the six weeks between April 19 and May 31, the Department of Homeland Security

The press has had a field day pumping the news that a publisher´s firing of a political cartoonist in Pittsburgh is a sign of President Trump´s war on freedom of the press. It´s nonsense. Whatever President Trump´s voiced beefs with the mainstream media, rest assured, he had nothing to do with this. And it actually happens all the time, and on both sides of the political spectrum. Here´s the story, as described by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette itself: Rob Rogers, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s editorial cartoonist, was fired Thursday. Comey tweeted his findings here: (Tweet) On first gander, one has to ask: Is he serious? Could he not be just trolling President Trump? One of the biggest takeaways from the Department of Justice´s 500-page inspector general report is how deep the contempt for voters is among the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s leadership elite. The text messages are incredible. According to the gleanings of J. Christian Adams over at Pajamas Media: One FBI agent on the Hillary investigation wrote in an FBI text: Trump´s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS. "POS" is the agent´s acronym for "Pieces Of S---." There´s also this from Adams: In another FBI communication, Strzok says he visited a rural Virginia Walmart – and the customers had a

Lost in the news about North Korea, the Justice Department´s Inspector General´s report, and a host of other big stories is a quietly big one - the death of the left´s bid to pin the ´Katrina´ tail onto President Trump. It´s failed. Bigly. Today´s news from volcano-battered Hawaii is that President Trump has sent in the calvary for its beleaguered citizens on the Big Island, offering individual aid for the thousands of Hawaiians who have lost their homes, or even lost access to them in the slow, terrifying, burning, lava flows from Mount Kilauea, which has destroyed more than 800 homes. Roseanne Barr has become untouchable due to the "Valerie Jarrett/Ambien/Planet of the Apes" controversy, irrevocably contaminated by racism. This presents a problem for ABC, which canceled her revived show but wants the show to return in some form because it had high ratings. The apparent solution is to create a new show focused on the daughter character "Darlene," which would exclude Roseanne. Unfortunately, Roseanne Barr owns a chunk of the show, and ABC doesn´t want to be seen letting Barr profit from it, so ABC is in talks to buy the show from Barr so she would not technically profit
