Equipment failure at 2nd fertility clinic may
have damaged hundreds of embryos

CBS News, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Toledo, 3/13/2018 6:25:45 AM

NEW YORK -- In what appears to be a stunning and heartbreaking coincidence, another fertility clinic said Monday its equipment temporarily failed, possibly damaging hundreds of eggs and embryos. The incident at Pacific Fertility Center in San Francisco happened on the same day as a fertility clinic at Beachwood, Ohio-based University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center. The level of liquid nitrogen in a cryo-storage tank used to preserve eggs and embryos dropped, raising the temperature in the tank and putting the eggs and embryos at risk.

Hmmmmmm, one is a failure. Two on the same day smells like sabotage. I would think that any alarming would have to have been disabled as well.

I´ve worked in labs. These should have had alarms that not only sounded locally but also called researchers to ensure there was an immediate response. Further LN2? Why weren´t these in actual freezers? These little lives aren´t damaged, they´re dead.

For those women who had eggs frozen before undergoing radiation or chemo which could make them infertile "heartbreaking" might apply. When it comes to frozen embryos, living in limbo, subject to selective abortions once implanted, pawns in divorce battles, and potential subjects of medical experimentation well that´s a different story, but heartbreaking on an entirely different level.

This is so much BS. Coincidence my patootie! Besides, these cryogenic systems do not work that simplistically. "Oops! Somehow the levels of liquid nitrogen just fell...reasons unknown!- Oh, well!" Look to the money factor. I´ll bet this outfit was under tremendous financial strain - I smell an insurance fraud case. Like the managers burning down the factory - along with all the financial records, "Boo-Hoo!"

Here in Cleveland I saw an interview with a couple that lost 3 embryos. It makes sense that those 3 embryos should have been kept in separate freezers to guard against this kind of failure. Ever heard of not putting all your eggs in one basket? Literally!

#4, exactly right.

In the USA, human beings at the dawn of our lifespan are dealt with under property law, not family law. Our youngest sons and daughters --- humans in embryo --- are treated as chattel, not children.

They´re made and frozen like laboraory specimens. They are subjected to minute scrutiny, not for their own individual benefit but for the preference of the purchaser. The less fortunate ones are discarded without a qualm. They are at risk of abortion once implanted, if they don´t get the premium rating from "product quality control". They get batted back and forth like shuttlecocks in divorce-related disputes, dickered over like dd hard-to-dispose of "stuff," like cans of paint in the back of the garage.

AND they may end up being some grad student´s Science Project. Possibly totally deformed into inter-species chimeras as if they were the spawn of animals.

Then finally, to the biomedical waste landfill, with no "Rest in Peace" and no "Amen".

Tell me what that has to do with human dignity.

You get to a certain age and you are fairly certain you have seen it all. For example, I have already witnessed a man walk on the moon, a president resign, America lose a war, the space shuttle explode, the Soviet Union collapse, a president impeached, a tied presidential race, the Twin Towers fall, and a billionaire real estate magnate elected president without a lick of political or military experience. But who would have thought we would live to see the day a Donald Trump could kill off the 1960s? That is exactly what has happened over the last ten days — Trump killed off the 1960s. Not the worst of it. The social horrors birthed in the

Attorneys for Cohen said Avenatti’s conduct was so troubling that a federal judge should prevent him from entering a pending legal case in New York about the disposition of records seized from Cohen’s home, office and hotel room last month. Vice President Pence has told congressional leaders that President Trump plans to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, Fox News has learned. A source said that Trump has made the decision to withdraw – and his announcement Tuesday afternoon will start a 90-day countdown to the restoration of sanctions. Once sanctions are re-imposed, the U.S. effectively would be out of the deal. It´s not clear which sanctions lifted under the deal Trump plans to immediately re-impose. He has several options. A more limited move could leave Trump more room to potentially stay in the deal if other members agree to toughen it.

Until 1968, Walter Cronkite believed what his government told him about the Vietnam War. He was an old-school journalist, a patriot, a man who came of age covering World War II as a wire-service reporter and then taking over as the anchor of “The CBS Evening News” at the height of the Cold War. Like most journalists of his generation, he embraced the fight against communism and understood why the United States had intervened in the war raging in Vietnam. When he’d visited Vietnam on a reporting trip early in the war, he’d been annoyed by the attitude of the young

I will venture a prediction: by the end of President Trump’s first term, it will be obvious that Hillary Clinton’s health would not have permitted her to serve effectively as president, had she won the 2016 election. Hillary falls down and faints. She needs help going up and down stairs. There are persistent rumors that she drinks too much. During the campaign, there were many days when Hillary was AWOL. Her schedule was weirdly light for someone running for the presidency. Many have commented on the fact that Hillary never went to Wisconsin, but the more basic fact is that there were lots of days when she didn’t go anywhere.
