James Levine’s Final Act
at the Met Ends in Disgrace

New York Times, by Michael Cooper

The Metropolitan Opera fired James Levine on Monday evening, ending its association with a conductor who defined the company for more than four decades after an investigation found what the Met called credible evidence that Mr. Levine had engaged in “sexually abusive and harassing conduct.” The investigation, which the Met opened in December after a report in The New York Times, found evidence of abuse and harassment “both before and during the period” when Mr. Levine worked at the Met, the company said in a statement. The Met did not release the specific findings of its investigation, which it said had included

Comments:
No pun intended, but this could be a tragic opera in the world which James Levine performed. I love classical music and he is such a part of it today that even I can envision his face when just seeing his name. Sad day for opera lovers, but hopefully justice will be done.

I grew up with the Texaco Opera on the Air Saturday afternoons. James Levine was a radio fixture with Milton Cross as the program host. That show was the foundation of my love of Opera.

A very sad day for Levine, and sad for those who appreciated his contributions to MetOpera. I

am so very grateful for the live in HD performances from the Met - wish more were available each season. That said, there have been performances in the past that were ruined for me (not just in opera but also live theater) that were basically conscripted by the gay mafia. I´m not talking about an aside here or there but stories changed to include a prominent gay theme. If ridding the Met of Levine can lessen this influence, I say good. Not counting on it, though.

At age 74 with Parkinson´s disease his career was over anyway. I have many recording featuring him as conductor. A talent tainted with human frailty. Hope I won´t get in trouble for saying this but I knew when I saw Jimmy Levine in the 1970s he was that way. Same for Liberace. The only one who fooled me was Rock Hudson. Poor Levine is persona non grata but one of my local tv stations still plays the Cosby show.

Reports of an alleged gas attack in the Syrian town of Douma are ‘fake news’ aimed at justifying potential strikes against Syria, Moscow said. It warned of “dire consequences” in the event of any military interference. (Snip) It said the reports were another example of a “continuous series of fake news about the use of chlorine and other chemical agents by the government forces.” The ministry pointed out that the source of the reports was the notorious “civil defense” group, the White Helmets, which has been repeatedly accused of having ties to terrorists, as well as other groups based in the US and UK.

(Video) - North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un said he´s willing to talk with President Trump about getting rid of North Korea´s nuclear weapons as part of a denuclearization across the Korean Peninsula, a Trump administration official confirmed to Fox News on Sunday. The confirmation came ahead of a meeting between the two leaders, which officials have suggested would take place by May. American couples will be given the option to define their relationship as either same sex or opposite sex for the first time in the 2020 US census. The update, revealed in a report by the US Census Bureau, has left many asking why this is the only data being collected about LGBT+ people.
