Driver electrocuted after ignoring barricade

A driver in New Jersey made a fatal mistake when he ignored a road closed barricade Thursday morning and drove on, only to run over live electrical wires downed by this week´s nor´easter storm. As 6ABC in Philly reports, the driver´s SUV erupted into flames in on Summit Avenue and Route 208 in Franklin Lakes just before 9 a.m., as the vehicle hit those live wires. In fact, the inferno was so bad, the driver had not been positively identified as of last reports. Fire totally gutted the vehicle, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation

I thought all of those kind of drivers, (the rules are for everybody else), had all moved down here to Florida. I´m sure we have all the "I´m the only one on the road" type.

"Hold my beer, watch this ..."

Not sure if the driver was drinking, but it does remind me of that comment, which always ends badly.

I´d guess they were from Massachusetts, those are some terrible drivers.

Somehow, I just can´t feel bad for them.

When there are safety warnings on everything (your sun shade for your car tells you to not drive with the sunshade in place), safety warnings become meaningless.

A young friend of our family walked out of his home during a high wind storm and a downed power line flew up and electrocuted him. I will never forget the tragedy. Downed wires are very long and whip around, they do not sit harmless and immobile on the ground. And they are absolutely deadly.

GREAT point @ 6 about overuse of warnings and the meaningless of same. I see stupid, silly, actually detrimental traffic signs constantly, such that one wonders if it´s really something to consider or an over-protective attempt to avoid law suit.

"Bump ahead"---this on a city street at which speeds are low and the bump was never felt or even seen. Who in hell thought a bump ahead sign was warranted. Fire him.

"Damaged Guard Rail Ahead"---which advised to avoid crashing your vehicle in the same spot somebody did last week. Choose another spot down the line, thanks. It proved more of a distraction than a benefit.

Seems very few possess any common sense these days.

I am baffled by the amount of people who still believe that road barricades exist only to inconvenience them. They go around them then demand to be rescued.

This driver lost that battle sorry to say. You ignore warnings at your peril after a storm like the NE has had. Only comfort I would have here is hoping this driver was dead before the fire started.

Jeanine Pirro gave a glowing assessment of Donald Trump’s chances for 2020, saying that if the president decides to run for re-election, he would probably be unbeatable. “I have to tell you. WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

NEW YORK — Starbucks is going strawless. The coffee company announced Monday that it will phase out plastic straws from all of its stores by 2020. The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. The new designs have drawn comparisons to an adult “sippy cup.” (Snip) Frappuccino
