´Why Not Give Me the Chance to Fight

In the wake of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, some are calling for teachers, administrators and other adults at schools to carry guns to help prevent mass shootings. A Utah teacher joined Martha MacCallum on "The Story" to explain why she carries a handgun to school every single day. Kasey Hansen revealed that the idea to arm herself in the classroom began with the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children and six adults were killed. "The teachers just huddled their kids in the corner and stood in front of them and hoped for the best. They didn't have any defense for them,

Comments:
Here is a heroic teacher, willing to protect her children, and willing to fight back. She makes a good case, and IMO, she is to be commended greatly.

We need more like her.

My grandma, a schoolteacher in a rural Texas county, at the turn of the last century, had a six-shooter hanging on a coat rack by her desk. It wasn´t for the kids´ protection. She was threatened by a vengeful rancher. Nobody thought it unusual then.

The left is on a tear about gun control right now because the last thing they want is evidence that an armed presence in our schools would actually work. They have so vilified guns that the thought that they could actually be used for good is an anathema to them. Facsists, communists, and all the rest of the bad guys do not want people to have a way of protecting and defending themselves against a time when it is imperative that any dissent is squashed.

Hats off to Kasey Hansen. We need more like her. In their absence however, we need, as President Trump has said, to harden our schools with armed “school marshals”. Leaving our kids in rooms like sitting ducks is not working. When owe it to our kids to do better for them.

Any teacher that would not do everything possible to protect their students should seek some other union-protected safe harbor such as a factory or a government office.

It´s the obvious solution, but I don´t know how it should be implemented.

When I imagine teachers with holstered pistols I see how easily they could be overwhelmed, disarmed and shot by their own students. Six hours of teaching while tending a fire-arm is more responsibility than I could handle. It would only take a fleeting lapse in attention--in hallway full of hormonal students for disaster to occur.

How firearms be kept secured so that they´ll be available if needed, yet beyond the grasp of an enraged or insane student.

We think of fire-arms as the guarantor of individual liberty. The left has taught society that they are the badge of authority and power over others. The miscreants, the insane, and the stupid think guns are forged from power; obtain one and you have the other.

The liberal Democrats will obstruct, oppose, and sabotage everything that President Trump will try to do in response to the mass school shooting in Florida. Including taking advantage of grieving and tramitized teenagers as we have seen. As the Democrat political agenda is to ban all modern firearms in the USA and nothing short of that will satisfy them.

In large urban schools that have a couple of thousand students there is no doubt in this era that professional armed security on site teams are needed. They also need to have very controlled access to school buildings including using metal detectors to keep intending armed shooters out of the buildings.

When it to rural schools where just about everybody, including teachers and school administrators, are attuned to possessing and using firearms, it is probably the best idea, to arm teachers and administrators who volunteer for such a controlled program. Their firearms could be secured in lock boxes and would not be seen by students. In those rural schools where everybody knows everybody there would be little chance that responding law enforcement officers would not know who the armed teachers would be, as those teachers would be required to be trained and maintain firearms proficiency, that would mean that they would have to qualify with their firearms on local law enforcement ranges.

A fundamental problem with leftists is their refusal to believe that some people embrace evil. The leftist idea that anyone who isn´t directly opposing the left can´t be evil, only misguided, underlies many key leftist policies. Take gun control. It´s premised on the idea that people don´t kill people; guns do. But we know that removing guns does not stop evil men from murder; contrary to the leftist´s deeply held belief, Cain didn´t murder Abel with an assault rifle. After all, if some men weren´t evil, why would Great Britain now be starting to control knives? Because leftists reject the

To put this story into context, let´s go back to 1899 and the publication of Johann von Bloch´s book Die Zukunft des Krieges (The Future of War). Bloch was a 19th-century railway magnate who had built the Warsaw to Moscow railway. In those days, the best and the brightest worked on optimizing the productivity of railroads through operational analysis. Bloch applied insights from managing railroads to theorizing about the conduct of war. His big insight, original at the time, was that wars would be won by the country with the biggest industrial output. This is the same as the Soviet

A judge in Massachusetts on Friday ruled against a lawsuit that questioned the state’s ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, declaring that the weapons were not protected by the Second Amendment. Assault weapons are considered to be military firearms, U.S. District Judge William Young said in his ruling, therefore disqualifying them from being included in a citizen’s right to “bear arms.” Policy makers, rather than the courts, were better suited to decide on the regulation for the weapons, he said. "Other states are equally free to leave them unregulated and available to their law-abiding citizens," Young said in his

He avoids the Bob Woodward fly-on-the-wall unattributed anecdote, and “they say” gossip mongering. Nor is the book a rush-to-publish product from former insiders of the Trump campaign or administration.
