Woman who cared for Florida gunman
reportedly wants to control his inheritance

Just one day after the shooting massacre last week at a Florida high school, the woman who cared for the alleged shooter and his brother filed court papers seeking control of their inheritance, which could total up to $800,000, according to the New York Post. Roxanne Deschamps also had Zachary Cruz, the brother of shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz, involuntarily committed to a mental facility shortly after the massacre, the Post reported, citing a family source. Deschamps, a longtime family friend of the Cruz brothers, began looking after them after their adoptive mother, Lynda, died of pneumonia in November.

Once all the lawsuits are settled, there isn´t going to be any inheritance left.

So he didn’t come home with the Sneads’ son after his mother died last fall, but after this woman kicked him out of her trailer?

How did she gain control over the Cruz brothers in the first place? Officially or incidentally? How did she have Nikolas’s brother committed? That’s not supposed to be easy…

I have no sympathy for a killer, but this young man did indeed have trouble in his life.

Well this puts a whole new slant on how we view these people who took in this troubled orphan.
I thought it was nearly impossible to get anyone committed for being crazy these days....and she chose to put her efforts into committing the other brother!!! This stinks to high heavens!
This $800,000 should be used to offset the taxpayer expense of dealing with these two. The judge will probably consider giving half of the money to the lawyers for the shooting brother and half to the facility keeping the other brother.

I haven´t followed every detail of this event and maybe it hasn´t been written about but:

1) the adoptive mother dies last year and did she leave a will, name someone to look over her two sons?

2) how has Nickolas been paying for his guns - from the life insurance money or did his mother, while still alive buy the guns or give him the money?

3) enough with the news stories about every local high school now holding some protest about guns.

This is a slimy and insinuating article. The woman is petitioning the court for probate the mother´s estate with her as executor. That has to be done by someone after a death - no matter what has happened after. The executor´s fee is reasonable and set by law: 2.5% of assets into the estate and 2.5% of assets out. The executor is not "in charge" of an estate so much as charged with fulfilling (executing) the testament of the deceased person. Once the assets are dispersed to her heirs, the estate is closed. The other son (and any other people the mother may have left things to) did nothing wrong. A quick payout and closure of the mother´s estate will make clear what belongs to them and what to Scum of the Earth Shooter - that will make it easier for the people suing him to get it.
Shameful "journalism"!

I am not a Bible scholar, but the passage which reads: ´The love of money is the root of all evil´ has merit . . . If you really want to see the dark side of human nature, watch the actions of the heirs of a person who died intestate.

Since he has assets, i don´t see why he has a court-appointed legal team.

Who had the authority to commit the brother?

If there was a will which mentioned each son, then divide it up and make sure the gunman pays for his defense, otherwise the taxpayers will be stuck with the bill.

Should be a short trial, or maybe a plea. In either case, there would be a balance. If there´s a longer trial, the money will be gone really, really fast.

I have no idea what the State´s authority would be once he´s convicted/sent to prison. Certainly there must be a "victims´ fund" in the State. Florida pays for funerals, apparently; medical costs for many families will be astronnomical.

No money for the Deschamps.

Somebody needs to help the other Cruz get his inheritance into some sort of Trust so no more unscrupulous people are able to manipulate or defraud him.

In the end most of the shooter’s half of the inheritance will end up in the pockets of lawyers, that’s a given, as why should the taxpayers fund the payment of a “free” lawyer (public defender) for the shooter as long as he has the money to pay for his own lawyer? After that, the victim’s families will get what’s left. That’s the way the system works, and the court will ensure that the shooter’s lawyers get their payouts first.

#11 that passage is not in the Bible, at least not any reputable ones.
That is a leftist propaganda quote that removes words to make it sound like the Bible supports the idea that money is evil.
The correct version is;
The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
Money is just one factor among many listed in the Bible, including idle hands.

The Sneads are not seeking anything here. They had no legal claim to anything with him, just tried to set him on a straight course after their son asked if he could stay. Realized the kid could not even do laundry.

There was no further threat to the base, where approximately 7,000 active military members and 3,700 civilians live and work, Air Force officials said. Why are so many women reluctant to call themselves feminists? It might be that widespread hostility toward men defines modern feminist movement. Certainly that was the theme of Hillary Clinton’s remarks earlier this month, when she blamed her 2016 presidential loss on husbands pressuring white women to vote for Donald Trump. Clinton has since been widely criticized and apologized. But her comments suggest so much that is wrong with today’s feminist movement: it’s both anti-male and anti-woman at the same time. HILLSBORO, Ohio- The predictable reaction from some media quarters directed at President Trump over the firing of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, including outlandish comparisons to the Saturday Night Massacre of Watergate days, is reflective of the Big Media echo chamber and the isolation inside the D.C. bubble. A man whom authorities were attempting to arrest early Wednesday in a string of bombing attacks in Austin killed himself with an explosive device as authorities closed in, a high-ranking law enforcement official told the American-Statesman early today. The official said authorities identified a suspect in the past 24 hours based largely on information gained after police said the suspect shipped an explosive device from a FedEx store in Southwest Austin. Your role is played out. Go where you belong from now on — into the dustbin of history!” It is no coincidence that John Brennan, who supported the Soviet-controlled American Communist Party in the 1970s (he has acknowledged that he thought his vote for its presidential candidate Gus Hall threatened his prospects at the CIA; unfortunately, it didn’t), would borrow from Trotsky’s rhetoric in his fulminations against Donald Trump. Liberals love the First Amendment’s “freedom of speech” clause. They rightly remember their forerunners—liberal journalists, civil rights activists, religious and political dissidents—and venerate the constitutional right that eventually vindicated these brave citizens. Yet it’s striking how often today’s most flagrant desecrations of free-speech rights are perpetrated not by right-wing rubes in Southern school districts but by highly-educated and allegedly forward-thinking liberal elites. Consider NIFLA v. Becerra, the case that came before the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday. Where they do not spring from simple malignancy, critics’ arguments that Trump used Russian intervention to win the election are mostly an excuse to avoid the plain truth that Hillary Clinton deservedly lost because she was an awful candidate. And the country is better for that result. We aren’t persuaded, either, that the Russians’ paltry $100,000 in Facebook spending had anything to do with Trump’s win, given that very little of it
