On March 24 students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and other schools around the country will march in hopes of pressuring Congress to pass more gun control. Although the March is officially titled “March for Our Lives,” BuzzfeedNews reports the march is indeed focused on securing gun control: (Video/Tweet) ABC News reports that South Broward High School students have already begun rallying for gun control, with Sophomore Genesis Campbell leading chants while holding a sign that read, “No more silence, end gun violence.” And this all comes after Nikolas Cruz complied with gun control to acquire a rifle, then

I would say this:

The VAST majority of these incidents are committed by mentally ill young men.

Since a young person can, apparently, be on their parents´ healthcare until they are 26 as a "child", perhaps we can all agree, since the prefrontal cortex in young men isn´t "done" until they are pushing 30 and since any backgroundcheckable mental illness would likely have manifested enough for even the ineptitude of today´s political-espionage-and-coup-obsessed-FBI to catch it, that we should NOT allow "kids" to buy weapons that are so easy to reload and shoot without significant recoil.

It is indisputable that mentally ill young men and weapons designed to kill quickly are a horrible mix. We MUST do better; with a combination of technology, predictive analytics, better agencies, and slight modification to existing law relating to those under about 25.

And before you attack me on "pure" principles, I have been defending the right on this sight for over 15 years and I know what I´m talking about. I am also a descendant of those who WROTE the Bill of Rights. Regulating the purchase of non-rimfire rifles with quick-change magazines to sane people over about 25 years old (or, if they are younger, with a parental/guardian´s signature on written permission and that person simultaneously taking on the legal responsibility for any actions that ensue) seems like something EVERYONE could agree on to lessen these horrendous and indefensibly evil events.

My proposal above would not effect Liberty in this country, AT ALL.

And would indisputably save some lives.

Also forgot to call them "reasonable" #8.
You cannot arbitrarily deny free people their rights based on age or lack of it.
Slaves can be denied anything based on any whim whatsoever. We´re nearly there. Look at all the exceptions to the bill of rights they have invented over the years. The document may as well not even be there.

What it boils down to, is there are laws currently on the books to evaluate people like this little monster and block them from buying or owning guns. The police were called to his house multiple times concerning violence. Nothing is on the record, but... why were weapons anywhere near this young man?

And those students should be aware: if you live, work or wander through a gun free zone, no one with criminal intent has ever obeyed the laws or posted signs. In fact, criminals look for indications that they have easier access or safer confrontations during their crimes. We might as well paint a target on the shirts of every student in America who travel through one of these zones.

And frankly, even if you could remove every gun in America, Anyone with intent to kill will bring in a bomb, a poison, a jug of gasoline and a match, a club, a hatchet, a speeding car or truck...

Lots of legal tools and products are lethal weapons with the wrong intent. Take away one, from the nuts, they´ll find another way.

Hollywood and Washington won´t give up their armed guards, and I´m willing to bet when they visit your school, no one will ask their security to leave their weapons behind. They´re protected. Our children aren´t.

Not even those children rallying because they´ve been misled it will make a difference.

Democrats don´t want to solve the Nation´s problems, they only want to use the various issues to gain more political power. Republicans do want to solve problems and are willing to work to do so. We could improve school security, we could improve communication between local law enforcement (who apparently responded to 39 calls to Cruz´s residence!) and the FBI.

Why do they want to see more minorities killed by gangs in our inner cities? Why are they gleeful over more people in general being robbed and beaten?

The children are operating at a child´s reasoning level. The adults in this deal are either way too stupid for their years or have other goals in mind, like a ruling elite with money and power and the rest of us as their subjects. Bring it.

Most people would agree that those who are mentally ill should not have access to weapons. That isn’t the issue. First of all it is very easy to buy a gun on the street and no law will stop it. Secondly the government cannot be trusted to do anything that equates to ‘common sense’.

What in all the world are ´safer bullets´?
Safety and common sense are leftist ´buzz words´ for gun control and eventual confiscation. I wouldn´t give an inch to the left because they´ll take a mile. We need laws for psychotic murdering people control not gun control. A determined demented person who chooses to kill will find a way to do it. ISIS Muslim terrorist use vehicles and knives in western Europe where guns are banned.
We need a ban on idiots and the best is all the evidence of the Parkland shooter and no one did a thing about it.

#2, those restrictions would be fine as long as you can convince the government that no child under the age of 25 can serve in the US Military. There are thousands of young patriots right now in the mountains of Afghanistan and across the Middle East carrying M240 SAWs and AR-15s and doing a helluva job in protecting us from a muslim invasion.

The solution is to identify "crazy" out of the 99% known as "normal." I know that´s not as easy as it sounds but the alternative is not acceptable in a free country.

A crying shame. But we had many, many more guns around when we were kids. Heck, even Woolworth´s sold guns. And the license was faster, easier & cheaper to get. Nothing like it is now.

So --- maybe it´s something else and not guns?

Like teaching kids no have no values, how no one gives a darn about anyone so hate America, that there is no such thing as a "higher authority" to answer to and who are you to judge me? Why even Hitler was entitled to "his opinion"!!

Life is cheap when you can take it away before birth -- and if you´re too old (well,in your opinion I´m too old). And don´t forget all the video games and now movies that show people being blown apart ... but they live again! They banned the Punch & Judy show because it was too violent but allow "Grand Theft Auto XXX" be sold to 10 year olds, etc. etc. Oh ... and those psychotropic drugs (side effect hallucinations) don´t help either. But it´s all about the gun. Yup.

Had these dorks paid attention they would have known that three already in place gun control laws were ignored in order for Cruz to slaughter. 1. FBI got report that Cruz was dangerous and dropped the ball, 2. 39 trips to Cruz house for problems never got entered into his background check 3. Being expelled from three schools never entered his background check either. These are good arguments to not add more laws to ignore, but start enforcing our current regulations. An in depth review of all these laws throughout our 50 states is called for, not more regulations.

What is going on right now is that the liberal Democrats are trying to take advantage of a lot of teenagers emotions, who know nothing about guns, or the history of guns in American life, in an effort to pass as much of their anti gun political agenda as possible quickly into law. They are now being aided by much of the liberal media who like nothing more then to stoke up controversy regarding gun control.

President Trump has it right, this is a big time mental health issue. But along with that, somethings have to be done by government to keep dangerous mentally deranged people, only 4% of people who have identified mental issues, from being able to purchase guns. That probably means establishing a federal database containing the names of people with known mental issues that local law enforcement and mental health practitioners believe are either dangerous to themselves or others, that can be checked during prospective firearms buyers FBI run background checks. If they do that, there will also have to be a procedure where people who believe that they should not be on the list can make a showing that they should not be on the list. Of course the Democrats will probably oppose such a list on medical privacy grounds, as their political agenda is clearly to eventually repeal outright or have liberal activist judges neuter the Second Amendment, and to ban all modern firearms in the USA.

Of course the presence of celebrities will flatter these children.
... they are children.

This Rally has been organized so quickly that it indubitably has major outside organizers; and just like in the 60s, these marches are not "organic", even if they seem to be initially.

The naive almost always become pawns, "useful idiots."

The Left is a major Enterprise and well-funded. Someone here mentioned Bloomberg, he´s one of the deep-pocket funders of such anti-gun movements. Soros, too.

This tragedy is not simply about gun violence. It once again exposes the moral and spiritual decay of our society, a GREAT DEAL of it instigated, inspired by, the entire entertainment industry which has incessantly attacked and demeaned traditional values.

#2, actually, very, very few young men become killers. Most murders are committed in "inner cities" where there´s extreme social decay, and where there´s usually a connection to drugs and associative gang activity.

By the way, who was calling for violence against President Trump and Republicans and the NRA, etc? yeah. the Left, the anti-gun lobby.

When drunk driving was at all time high (still kills more kids than guns), Country didn´t demand that certain types of hard liquor be banned because it got you drunker faster. We didn´t hear people say, there is no need for one person to buy anything larger than a six pack and I see no reason for having twelve pack and lord for bid pony kegs!! What we did is start a campaign to educate about alcohol, driving and we put more "security" on the via road stops, etc. We went after the drunks and the mind set!! Plus we increased the penalty for drinking and driving. Result- since 1980´s drunk driving deaths have decreased by 51%. Need to have same common sense approach to firearms safety and security in schools. We protect our money, politicians, sports events, and malls, but not our schools and kids?!?! WTHeck!! If you are one of these idiots; who want to ban certain types guns or ban them all together, you real don´t want to solution.

Bolton, a hard-line former United States ambassador to the United Nations, White House officials said Thursday. General McMaster will retire from the military, the officials said. He has been discussing his departure with President Trump for several weeks, they said, but decided to speed up his departure, in part because questions about his status were casting a shadow over his conversations with foreign officials. As the Senate barrels toward the third government funding deadline of the year, Republicans appear in the dark about one key question: What will Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) do? The libertarian-minded senator caused an hours-long shutdown in February. He´s yet to say if he´ll give a repeat performance going into the midnight Friday deadline to avoid a partial closure. "Shame, shame. A pox on both Houses — and parties. $1.3 trillion. Busts budget caps. 2200 pages, with just hours to try to read it," he tweeted on Thursday. The House approved the $1.3 trillion budget to fund the government through the 2018 fiscal year, allowing federal services to stay open but hampers many of President Donald Trump’s agenda items. The lower chamber approved the budget 256 – 167, but oddly enough, most of the dissenting votes came from Republicans, who hold the majority, and not Democrats. Ninety Republican members of the House voted against the bill, compared to 77 dissenting Democrat votes. In total, 145 Republicans and 111 Democrats voted in favor of a bill. Trump made his remarks during a panel discussion with Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, who asked him to give advice to the 25-year-old “Donald Trump” in the audience. “Don’t run for president,” Trump replied with a grin. “We’re glad you did,” replied Kirk as the room applauded. Trump said that he had a very successful business career and great press until he decided to run for office. He said his experience in running for office proved

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi trumpeted her party’s successes in the negotiations over the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill in a statement released late Wednesday. While Democrats had not managed to secure a solution for the so-called “Dreamers” — a major demand of the progressive activist base of the party — she boasted that she had funded many Democratic spending priorities. Crucially, she said, Democrats had prevented Trump from building his wall, restricting new spending on border security to secondary fencing. Pelosi’s full statement follows: “Democrats fought with great integrity, strength and unity to secure vital middle class priorities in

Speaker Paul Ryan is set to pass the second largest spending bill in US history next to Barack Obama’s trillion dollar failed stimulus. The budget funds all of the Democrat priorities including sanctuary cities and Planned Parenthood. The bill will also funnel billions of dollars to Obamacare markets. Paul Ryan’s omnibus only allows $1.57 billion on “physical barriers and technology” on the border. $641 million of that could go to barriers, and that would be restricted to see-through fences and levees. However, according to PBS, the funding could not be used to build a concrete wall. In January President Trump asked for

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said at a press conference on Wednesday that the Freedom Caucus will vote against the omnibus spending bill and he hopes the White House will veto the bill. Congressional leadership reportedly will reveal the omnibus spending bill on Wednesday. Conservatives, including the majority of the House Freedom Caucus, will oppose the Omnibus. Congress must pass the omnibus spending bill or a short-term continuing resolution (CR) by Friday to avoid a government shutdown. Jordan suggested that a number of liberal policies will be included in the omnibus, without any substantial border wall funding. Jordan said, “Planned Parenthood,

Science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson is one of the best-known names in a genre known for looking forward. However, not all writers in the genre look to the future for their ideas -- plenty are obsessed with moving backwards, from liberty back to tyranny. Robinson recently penned an op-ed in The Guardian that favors removing humans from most of the world, forcefully herding us all into cities. "The tendency of people to move to cities, either out of desire or perceived necessity, creates a great opportunity. If we managed urbanisation properly, we could nearly remove ourselves from a considerable percentage of

As Jed Kolko, chief economist with employment website Indeed.com, pointed out regarding the data, "The rate at which California has been losing people to other states has accelerated in the past couple of years, in part because of rising housing costs … more people moved out of California to other states than moved in from other states. In other words, California lost people due to domestic migration."There are apparently three prime destinations for the migrating Californians: Texas, Arizona, and

A couple years ago, salmon passed tuna as the most popular fish in the United States. Our doctors have told us to eat more of it; our fitness and diet regimens have put it in heavy menu rotation. The problem is not all salmon is created equal. More than 90 percent of the fresh salmon eaten in this country comes from giant fish farms, and those farms have problems. Big ones. Here are the facts about America’s favorite fish that you should know but perhaps wish you didn’t. • Large-scale salmon farms in the United States, Canada, Scotland, Norway and Chile have

White House officials said Thursday that President Donald Trump will sign a hotly contested budget bill when lawmakers send it to him, despite the fact that it provides for only 33 miles of new barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump vowed in April 2017 that his long-promised border wall would be finished by the end of his first term in office. ´It´s certainly going to – yeah,´ he told reporters then, answering a specific question about a four-year timeline and adding that ´we have plenty of time.´ But at the rate the White House has agreed to, the project could stretch through more
