Adam Rippon, the openly gay figure skater who helped the United States win a bronze medal in team competition and became one of the biggest breakout stars of the PyeongChang Olympics, has gotten his first big break before the Winter Games have even concluded. Rippon, a darling of the competition for saying things that have been at turns smart, creative, and refreshing for viewers, has been hired by NBC as a correspondent for the rest of the Games. NBC confirmed the news, first reported by USA Today, with Rippon expected to work on TV as well as the digital and

Now someone who sends snarky Tweets is considered a golden commentator.

They think the ratings are bad now, they´re only going to get worse as people turn off Fifi. His 15 minutes are up, he can´t do a quad so he´ll never be a serious contender. He just needs to disappear into the obscurity of Holiday on Ice.

Of course they did, NBC, along with a few of their advertisers, has turned this into the Gay Games.

While channel-surfing last night I saw an American skier finish whatever his event was. NBC´s cameras were focused on his family and friends in the crowd holding huge gay pride flags and a US flag made with the gay-rainbow colors. I continued to channel surf.

Of course they hired him. They needed to get their "liberal certification" ticket punched for the year.
He´ll be around for the games. But will he last? I doubt it. There´ll be some sort of bland statement about time with family, or some other dreck and he´ll be gone.

He was NEVER a contender, so I do not understand why he was on the team. Is this the ´show-up´ and ´participate´ Olympics, like kiddy ball. If we do not have a serious contender for a specific sport, then don´t send anyone. He himself says he cannot compete with the younger participants, so why is he over there? ** I do not watch, but am commenting based on the news reports of his performance. Insofar as his gender statements, that is just one more reason not to watch, so NBC is just hurting themselves by hiring him.

Also guns have a powerful juju and influence otherwise sane individuals to suddenly shoot up schools and churches. LEMONT, Ill. - Chicago-area Democrats cast their ballots on Tuesday in a nationally watched congressional primary election that could signal whether the anti-Trump sentiment that has galvanized the party´s base could also sweep moderate lawmakers out of office. U.S. Representative Dan Lipinski is facing a stiff challenge from businesswoman Marie Newman, who says the incumbent´s socially conservative views are out of touch with the district that first elected him in 2004. Lipinski, who opposes abortion and gay marriage, says Democrats need to avoid ideological litmus tests if they want to win back the working-class voters who supported Republican Donald Trump

WASHINGTON — Bernie Sanders is back in the Senate minority. Hillary Clinton is selling books and playing with grandchildren. And the Democratic Party is still navigating the fallout from their bitter 2016 presidential nominating fight. The latest reminder came this week as party leaders failed to agree on how to reduce the influence of so-called "superdelegates" in picking Democrats´ next White House nominee. That class of party leaders — Democratic National Committee members, elected officials and others — overwhelmingly favored Clinton two years ago, inflaming Sanders backers who accused Democratic power players of stacking the deck. James Kallstrom is no joke. With nearly thirty years in the FBI, several of them as the Assistant Director, Kallstrom knows how the agency functions far more than most. So when he says there was a plot to protect Hillary Clinton from prosecution and to illegally influence the 2016 Election people should pay attention. Kallstrom goes on to call the entirety of the FBI investigation against Donald Trump completely phony. Maria Bartiromo’s own take appears very much to compliment Mr. Kallstrom’s assertions. President Trump says he didn´t collude with Russia in 2016, promising something to a foreign country in exchange for his installation as president. That seems increasingly likely to prove true. Where they do not spring from simple malignancy, critics’ arguments that Trump used Russian intervention to win the election are mostly an excuse to avoid the plain truth that Hillary Clinton deservedly lost because she was an awful candidate. And the country is better for that result. We aren’t persuaded, either, that the Russians’ paltry $100,000 in Facebook spending had anything to do with Trump’s win, given that very little of it
