Sen. Nelson Incorrectly Claims Florida High
School Shooter Used Automatic Weapon

Daily Caller, by Julia Nista

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/15/2018 11:55:46 AM

Democratic Florida Sen. Bill Nelson incorrectly stated on MSNBC that the shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida used an automatic weapon, when in fact he used a semi-automatic weapon. The shooter used an AR-15, according to Florida law enforcement. An AR-15 is a semi-automatic weapon, meaning that a shooter must pull the trigger for each individual shot to be fired. An automatic weapon allows multiple rounds of ammunition to be fired with one pull of the trigger. “Is this OK to talk about gun control policy at this time, sir?” asked host Mika Brzezinski. Nelson said now is not

Comments:
So what´s new. Nelson is always the first hack before a camera when one of these horrific tragedies occurs and yaps about gun control. As has been done with all of these tragedies, information regarding the AR-15 is almost always wrong because to state the facts would not support their desire for gun control laws. And as always, the horrible state of our society is never mentioned regarding these tragedies.

Semi-automatic meant to sound nasty and bad. A .38 is a "semi-automatic". The trigger has to be pulled for every shot fired. Same with a .22.

And the follow up we hear so often is that weapons that only belong on the battlefield don´t belong on our streets. When was the last time we relied on semi-automatic arms on the battlefield, Korea M1 Garands?

I forget the pinhead´s name but on Fox last night I heard someone, a Florida legislator, claim to understand guns, a hunter bla bla bla then say that the AR 15 was fast and powerful. No doubt it is deadly but the implication is that the .223 is something with power above common hunting or plinking rounds.

The problem; they are creating the myth that if you make the AR15 go away the problem is largely resolved. Not so. This obscures the end game by pretending anything short of eradicating 100 year old technology could possibly have an impact on the body count. Then only a small amount. Ever work the bolt of a .303 Enfield, darned fast fooled the Germans in Belgium into thinking they faced machine gun fire, darned BEF!

Truth, nothing short of total confiscation with house to house searches and harsh sentences will work if you are confined to addressing this from a restriction standpoint. Or we could look at Israel and recognize the need to protect our children and our freedom.

Dems and gun-haters (but I repeat myself) are both massively ignorant, and frequently intentionally trying to confuse the public by calling a self-loading or semi-automatic gun, a "fully automatic" gun, which is a machine gun and which are severely limited in ownership.

A semi-auto will function like a .38 revolver from 1890 and on. Putt the trigger and get one shot. Pull it again, get another shot.

One shot per trigger pull is not ´fully automatic".

Nelson served in the US Army as an officer during the Vietnam era. He knows the difference between a fully automatic firearm and a semi-automatic firearm.

When he misrepresented that the shooter used an automatic firearm Nelson knew that was not true, and that the shooter actually used a semi-automatic firearm to commit his murderous attack at the high school.

Nelson also brought up that the Democrats could not even get people on the government terrorist watch list banned from purchasing firearms, but never explained why Congress rejected that proposal. The fact was any American could be put on that watch list upon presentation of very flimsy evidence of a connection to a terrorist or terrorism, with no recourse to get off the list. With all the abuse that is being uncovered in DC these days, can you imagine the abuse that would have taken place if Obama and his crew could put their political enemies on that watch list and effectively strip them of their Second Amendment Rights with no recourse?

Among its other consequences, Speaker Paul Ryan´s retirement from the House increases the chance that President Donald Trump will be impeached. Ryan´s decision accelerates the ongoing competition among his deputies to become the leader of the GOP in the House.
