Trump proposes eliminating
federal funding for PBS, NPR

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Joe Concha

Original Article

President Trump´s newly proposed budget includes a proposal to end federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), part of a package that includes $300 billion in new spending overall. CPB provides federal funding for PBS and National Public Radio stations. "The Budget proposes to eliminate Federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) over a two year period," according to the proposal. "CPB grants represent a small share of the total funding for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR), which primarily rely on private donations to fund their operations," it continues. "To conduct an orderly transition away

More excellent news! There is no reason in the world why we should fund those pathetic leftists. Of course those on the left are shrieking like scalded dogs. In the link below they go overly dramatic by saying cutting funding will kill people. Good. Grief. That´s one of their favorite lines. They really need some new material.

PBS and NPR were federally funded before all the other news sources existed. Originally they could not accept commercials - now they get money from commercials, donations, and the Feds - they present only Leftist views -
funding should have been ended long ago.

Awesome news. I used to listen to NPR when they aired classical music. Then it changed its format to talk radio because classical music could not generate the advertising revenue. Oh the horror for me. When I discovered that it was funded through tax payer dollars while spouting super leftist junk, I was beyond p..d. No taxpayers money should go to anything that has a partisan slant. And, that includes galleries and museums. We do not need to fund Maplethorpe or that garbage of dung on the Madonna and the Crucifix dipped in urine. Gross and no artistic value whatsoever other than to shock.

NPR is still one of my three radio stations (don´t have much time devoted to watching TV). Their production is first class but the obvious slant evident in their editorial and production choices, inflection on the part of the journalists, constant use of ...this President... test my patience.

Short of defunding, which I oppose on several grounds; I wonder if some sort of Board structure as at FEC and FCC (proportionately representative of party) could be arranged.

We no longer live in the age of oil-lamps and wireless sets (am radio). The FCC makes a boatload of money selling frequencies in elaborate auctions and there´s no reason Internet radio (even in cars) can´t take the place of PBS. They can always find mindless twits of Dan Rather caliber to work for free and spew never-ending nonsense with all the meat of a cartoon fish-bone.

I was surprised to see defunding of DARPA but that agency is as bad as PBS and NPR. They´re the ones who initially came up with the program to spy on every American.

Let us think about this.
NPR is funded by 1) the Federal Government
2) quarterly on-air begging for contributions
3) sponsors [they say it is not sponsorship, but the company name is mentioned]
I would believe they were serious if all NPR employees were limited to a maximum $200,000 per year (perks included).
Defund National Peoples Radio.
Also known as #NeverTrump headquarters.
Works for me.

EXCLUSIVE: The centerpiece of a New Yorker story on Karen McDougal, who says she had an affair with Donald Trump, is scribbled notes kept by the former Playboy playmate. These notes, obtained by journalist Ronan Farrow, are presented as her personal reflections on the relationship –“later memorialized in an eight-page, handwritten document provided to the New Yorker.” Readers could easily get the impression, as many journalists have, that McDougal wrote these notes during what she describes as a consensual relationship that began in 2006. But that is not the case. A telltale marking on the entries, reproduced by the magazine,

Asked in 1972 if he believed in miracles, Billy Graham answered: Yes, Jesus performed some and there are many "miracles around us today, including television and airplanes." Graham was no theologian. Neither was he a prophet. Jesus said "a prophet hath no honor in his own country." For the past year, chief executives have often talked about the new sense of moral responsibility that corporations have to help their communities and confront social challenges even when Washington won’t. What if the finance industry — credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard and American Express; credit card processors like First Data; and banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo — were to effectively set new rules for the sales of guns in America? Collectively, they have more leverage over the gun industry than any lawmaker. And it wouldn’t be hard for them to take a stand.
