Senate immigration debate stalls after
Democrats block first GOP amendment

Washington Examiner, by Susan Ferrechio

What was supposed to be an open-ended debate on immigration reform stalled on Tuesday when Democrats objected to the Republican´s first amendment, which would punish so-called sanctuary cities. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., blocked a request by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to start by debating the sanctuary city language. Without Schumer´s consent, the debate cannot begin until either late tonight or tomorrow morning. The amendment mirrors legislation written by Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., that would withhold certain federal funds from jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration officials when it comes to illegal immigrants. Schumer argued Tuesday that the Toomey

Comments:
Once again the Democrats show what recalcitrant hacks they really are. The worse they behave the better it is for us. Unlike in the past we have a president who will not be shy about pointing who is to blame for not solving the problems related to immigration. OTH it´s really unfortunate that the looming problems associated with immigration remain the same. Of course somehow the media will blame Trump for all of it.

Let the media blame Trump. Big deal.

Most Americans know the score. Illegal immigration is a losing issue, no matter how you slice it. I hope Pubbies understand that, too.

Fine. For now stick to border security, chain migration and the visa lottery. This is just one small part of what needs to be addressed. I´d rather see it piecemeal.

Huh? The dens are the champions of the DACA babies and if this bill doesn´t get signed by March 5 the DACA babies start losing their documentation and will be deported, and so, the dems block the process. I guess I´m on the dems side. Go dems hold that block.

Huge surprise. The dems just can´t help themselves and must object to every idea that is not theirs. March 5th is looking like an impossible achievement but that´s fine. The DACAs threatend to walk back across the border if we didn´t welcome them with open arms. Adios.

Chuckie got his paid for judge to rule that even though the SC ruled that DACA is unconstitutional DACA must continue. So now he feels empowered to stop in its tracks any attempt to get immigration law right.

An automatic weapon allows multiple rounds of ammunition to be fired with one pull of the trigger. “Is this OK to talk about gun control policy at this time, sir?” asked host Mika Brzezinski. President Trump’s legal team is citing a three-pillar argument to convince investigators, and the public, that President Trump shouldn’t sit down for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller. Mr. Mueller wants access to the president as part of an inquiry into suspected obstruction of justice in the firing of the special counsel’s longtime friend, FBI Director James B. Comey, in May. The president’s legal team has resisted but not given a firm no. Here are the arguments against an interview. • The White House has given Mr. Mueller unprecedented access to White House documents and people. • There is no stated crime. •
