Guess I won’t be rooting for

The recently enacted Media law says that it is forbidden to make public any statement that links Poland to Germany’s evil in the Holocaust. Up to three years in prison if you are caught saying “Polish death camps” out loud, especially through the press. So let’s keep this private. Make sure not to pass this around…that the Poles were not innocent bystanders. They were horribly complicit before, during and after. History knows what happened, though my family (and yours too, I’ll bet) needs no books to tell the story or give the number -- 3-miilion Polish Jews slaughtered one way or another. Most of

All those nations had their own version of collaborators. It is ridiculous of Poland to deny that fact.

OTOH, the fierceness of the Polish people when it comes to fighting is why Hitler chose them to be invaded first. Knock down the biggest opponent you have, and the rest will fall into line much easier.

6 million poles died in the death camps. The ´official´ death count of Poles in WWII was 8 million... I think it was twice that.

´Blaming the victim´ anyone.

Poles offered weapons to Jews for the Warsaw uprising. It was a failed, suicidal venture (given what the Russians did.)

I´ll root for Poland.

A Houston megachurch pastor and a Louisiana financial planner were indicted on Thursday for orchestrating a $3.5million fraud. According to the federal indictment, Kirbyjon Caldwell and Gregory Alan Smith used their ´influence and status´ to lure dozens of ´vulnerable and elderly´ people to invest in worthless Republic of China bonds. The bonds were issued after World War II, but became worthless when the Communists took over the country in 1949, kicking out the old government who issued the bonds. Their only value today is as collectibles. Prosecutors say Calwell, the head of the 14,000-member Windsor Village United Methodish Church, and Smith, the

At least to this observer, UK prime minister Theresa May has been sounding a touch hysterical – or maybe it’s just me who finds this getting out of hand. She’s now got the United States backed into taking punitive action against Russia. This, as we expel 60 Russian diplomats as part of a united front that includes 14 European countries, all of whom say that, “It’s time to do something about Russia.” The pundits agree. All of the same mind that, “It’s time to put Putin in his place” ...and “Enough is enough.” Enough of what? Seems that the Russians poisoned a

President Trump’s appointment of John Bolton as National Security Adviser flags the possibility that the centrepiece of Trump’s eagerly-awaited “ultimate deal” could involve the subdivision of Judea and Samaria (“the West Bank”) and Gaza between Israel, Jordan and Egypt. Such tripartite negotiations would replace the stale-mated Israeli-Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) negotiations - suspended in 2014 following a PLO walk-out when: 1. The PLO was demanding a new Palestinian Arab State with Jerusalem as its capital in 100% of the West Bank and Gaza (“disputed territories”) for the first time in recorded history – which was unacceptable to Israel. 2. Hillary Clinton has been paid $25,000 to speak at Rutgers University, but it is just a fraction of her usual six figure fee and $7,000 less than what Jersey Shore´s Snooki was given. The former presidential candidate delivered a speech in front of a packed crowd at Rutgers on Thursday afternoon that focused on politics and her role in shaping women´s political history. Rutgers paid the former US secretary of state $25,000 for her appearance. The payment came from an endowment fund and not tuition or public funds, a Rutgers spokeperson told NJ.com. President Donald Trump hit out at Amazon on Thursday morning before normal trading hours, finally commenting on a report that he´s ´obsessed´ with the company owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos and wants to ´go after´ it. An Axios report on Wednesday that revealed Trump´s plot to put strict new regulations on the company sent Amazon´s stock into free-fall, whacking off billions in value for shareholders, including Bezos. Trump did not deny the report this morning, and seemed to suggest it was true when he copped to a years-long belief that the e-commerce behemoth was behind retail store failures and U.S. Postal Service

An army sniper who miraculously survived being shot through the neck and carried on fighting for 90 minutes is selling his bravery medal for £100,000 so he can buy a house. Lance Corporal Simon Moloney was convinced he was about to die after a bullet hit him in the throat during a firefight in Afghanistan in 2013. He said he spent 10 minutes preparing for death until a medic stemmed the bleeding and stabilised him. Minutes later he was back on his feet and fought the Taliban in searing 40C heat, pinning down enemy snipers and helping save his comrades.

I’ve heard the stories swirling around the President described in a number of ways: “scandalous,” “tawdry,” “unbecoming,” “tabloid trash.” But the word that first comes to my mind is “humiliating.” That the President of the United States is being sued by a porn star over an alleged affair they had years ago is humiliating for the country, certainly. That the figurehead of the Republican Party, not too long ago the party of family values, is alleged to have had another affair with a playmate just after his son was born, is humiliating for the GOP. Or, it should be anyway. But worst of
