What´s wrong with Obama´s hand

I´m gonna go out on a limb here: I generally like the Obama official portrait. It´s an odd style, but it expresses him and what´s more, it reflects the art of his era. (snip) Here´s the problem: It´s not drawn very well. The work shows a lack of skill in the basic rendering of an image. The hands are out of proportion in size, even placed in the foreground, overly big. One might be able to write that off as intentional. But the front hand itself has problems in construction, at least if the aim is to create a realistic

The artist got is right. a fruit belongs surrounded by leaves.
As to the hand, hands are hard to draw, and as the artist had to be a racist white hating communist the number available was small.
And, yes, the hands had to be made big, because, well you know what they say about big hands.

Notice also the wedding band is really just lighter colored skin under the band. It´s been removed and so we see just the hint of it. It is non existent- Moochie probably had something to do with that.

But, basically, considering the missing arm of the chair, the stupid multi type flowers that do not go with the "ivy" if that is what it is...some say it is kudzu others poison sumac
- the odd composition- His legs are missing, he is out of balance on the so-called chair, You have to arrive at the conclusion, the so-called artist is a rank amature who has really not much awareness of what he was trying to do- like the subject in the painting. A self taught con-artist is what he is.

Moochie´s painting doesn´t look like her, as others have pointed out, but at least the massive number of yards of dress material covers her thunder thighs! The artist took about 50 pounds off her too.

The King of Kudzu. Monica captures him, the “artist” (used loosely, in which every toddler with a crayon is an artist), and sums most of it up thusly:

The artist shows an embarrassingly weak ability to draw.

A very good article. Monica does a lot of them. In this one she especially knows whereof she speaks. How rare is that in today’s journalism?

Of course it is not politically correct to criticize anything that African-American artists or politicians do or say these days no matter how incredible the result. That’s why the very liberal Hollywood crowd who attended the portrait unveiling jumped up and clapped wildly when the unveiling took place.

Clearly Barack and Michelle Obama selected the two so-called artists, not because they were the best available, but because they are African-Americans seeped in contemporary African-American culture. It is evident, that in the two portraits, the Obamas got what they wanted. It’s just two bad that the American taxpayers had to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for such “art”.

Embarrassing to say the least. Should have had Obama sitting at his desk with his feet propped up on it. That was his usual pose. Michelle ought to make them take hers down and get someone else to do one. This one does not look like her at all and the dress is the main focus. Terrible.

In a repeat of the state’s extraordinary role in the 2016 presidential election, this year Pennsylvania will be the center of a serious constitutional challenge. At stake may be the entire congressional balance of power between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats in PA are attempting to do through the courts what they were not able to do at the ballot box. They are assuming that the woes of their cause are due to redistricting, not to failed policies repudiated by the electorate. Trump’s stunning statewide victory in Pennsylvania in 2016 had absolutely nothing to do with gerrymandering. As background, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania

The selection of the artists painting the Obamas’ new portraits commissioned for the Smithsonian revealed much more than two pieces of “art.” One would surely think that the chosen artists of the former President and First Lady of the United States would have been carefully vetted -- for quality of work, appropriateness of artistic style for the venue, and reputation in the community. Barack Obama’s selection of Kehinde Wiley for his portrait is proving to be more atrocious than the painting itself.
