Stop pretending the Olympics

New York Post, by Jonathan S. Tobin

What’s wrong with the Olympics isn’t limited to the rapturous reception accorded to Kim Yo-jong in Pyeongchang, South Korea. As Bethany Mandel pointed out here, it’s a disgrace that the sister of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was fawned over by the international press and favorably compared to Vice President Mike Pence because he refused to play along with that evil regime’s charm offensive. It’s appalling that many are so willing to embrace those responsible for countless murders and torture just to take a swipe at President Trump. But the heart of the problem isn’t the obsession with Trump or

Glad I wasn´t the only one creeped-out seeing the cherubic girls cheering and clapping. Tobin makes a good comparison to the German Olymipics of ´36.

When the ancient Greeks held their Olympics, they simply put their internecine wars on pause while they played. As soon it was finished, they went right back to fighting again. They didn´t care about peace and human rights. They just wanted a venue to show off their athletes in a demonstration of superiority. I´ll watch the Olympics again without all that propaganda claptrap.

I don´t watch the Olympics, and I don´t watch the NFL. Most of my reasons overlap the two.

ICE agent accused of pulling gun on

An ICE agent allegedly pulled a gun on a man whose car was being repossessed by the agent’s cousin in The Bronx, then had the victim arrested on bogus charges, a high-ranking police source said Sunday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Omar Castro was accompanying his repo-man cousin to collect a car late Saturday when the owner, Christopher Jackson, tried to stop them. Castro, 41, blocked Jackson’s car in with his own vehicle in the Foxhurst section, and they began arguing heatedly at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said. Castro, who was off duty, then allegedly pulled out his service

Before Nikolas Cruz carried out his mass killing at a Florida high school this week, police responded to his home 39 times over a seven-year period, according to disturbing new documents. Details about the calls to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office — obtained through police records by CNN — were not immediately available and it was impossible to determine if all involved Cruz. But the nature of the emergencies to his Parkland home included “mentally ill person,” “child/elderly abuse,” “domestic disturbance” and “missing person,” KTLA reported. And a schoolmate, Brody Speno, told the network that cops were called to Cruz’s

Police Commissioner James O’Neill said it would be “insanity” for the feds to force one state to recognize another’s lax gun laws. A bill making its way through Congress would make gun possession akin to a driver’s license — so one state’s looser regulations against concealed weapons would be protected in tougher anti-gun states, like New York. “I think it’s insanity,” O’Neill told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in an interview aired Sunday night. O’Neill said accidents and suicides — in addition to crime — could skyrocket with more out-of-state guns around town. “Right now, we have a good idea of who’s

Elizabeth Warren. The company’s list of “accessed” data, obtained by The Post, includes: Passport numbers Social Security numbers first, last, and middle names and suffixes gender home addresses and phone numbers driver license numbers, including the date the license was issued and the state issuing them

An ISIS-loving Queens college student who planned terror attacks on Big Apple landmarks will spend almost two decades behind bars, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday. Munther Omar Saleh, 22, was sentenced to 18 years in prison and 10 years’ supervised release in Brooklyn federal court after pleading guilty last year to conspiring to help the jihadist group and assaulting a federal law enforcement officer. Saleh, a student at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology in Queens, worked with late British ISIS recruiter Junaid Hussain to construct a pressure-cooker bomb and also discussed potential New York targets with him — including the

Two Massachusetts women are facing multiple charges after they allegedly tied down and burned a 5-year-old girl in a voodoo ritual. The girl, whose name has not been released, is permanently disfigured as a result of a ritual that was meant to “rid her of a demon that was making her misbehave,” the Brockton Enterprise reported. The two East Bridgewater women, identified as Peggy LaBossiere, 51, and Rachel Hilaire, 40, allegedly blew fire over the young girl’s face and cut her arm and collar area with a needlelike object, drawing blood, the girl’s 8-year-old brother told police. Towards the end of Trump’s speech, Gutierrez was spotted on camera getting up and exiting the chamber after Trump praised monuments across the country. As members of Congress applauded the president’s comments, the Illinois Democrat rose from his seat and walked out the door. “Monuments to Washington and Jefferson — to Lincoln and King. And they have declined an invitation to discuss their concerns with President Donald Trump, whom they call "disgusting."

Now that the gun control advocates have had their fifteen minutes of fame, let’s start focusing on the real issues impacting the rise in school shootings since that infamous day in Columbine in 1999. Issue number one that no one in the mainstream media or government wants to acknowledge: fatherlessness. Specifically, the impact of fatherlessness on the boys who grew up to become school shooters. Dr. Warren Farrell, author of the new book The Boy Crisis, explains: Minimal or no father involvement, whether due to divorce, death, or imprisonment, is common to Adam Lanza, Elliott Rodgers, Dylan Roof and Stephen Paddock. He has no idea how to make a majority of voters choose him. Mitt’s back. The former governor of Massachusetts and occasional native son of Michigan has a new persona: Mr. Utah. He’s going to bring Utah conservatism to the whole Republican party and to the country at large. Wholesome, efficient, industrious, faithful. “Utah has a lot to teach the politicians in Washington,” he says in announcing his Senate campaign. Maybe. There’s always been something unstable about Mitt Romney’s political identity.
