Earth to NBC: Russians did not

CNN just lost its Fake News crown to NBC. Its effort to win the gold has been Olympic this month. The network sent its anchor to Pyongyang to show what a paradise North Korea is. Then it (and the rest of the Fake News media) fawned over Caligula Jong Un´s sister. Then it lied and said Koreans admire the Japanese. No, Koreans hate the Japanese after 35 years of cruelty when Japan colonized Korea. (Snip) "Recent NBC reporting has misrepresented facts and confused the public with regard to Department of Homeland Security and state and local government efforts to combat election hacking. Its easier for Russia to influence our crooked government and lying media. Russia had no need to influence our election outside of creating turmoil. Would guess they caused about 10% of the damage. The rest is self-inflicted due to our government playing politics with the issue.

3 More California Cities Vote to Opt

The Newport Beach city council voted unanimously earlier this week to challenge California´s sanctuary law, joining a dozen other cities that are not interested in complying with the sanctuary policies. It´s the third city in the past two days to take such action, joining about a dozen others in recent weeks. (map)"It´s a tool in the toolbox for our police to help keep criminals off the street," Newport Beach Councilman Scott Peotter said of the vote against the law. He said the issue is not about opposition to immigrants - as critics allege - but about keeping "illegal alien criminals" from re-entering

Following the FBI’s shocking raid Monday at the home, office, and hotel room of President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, Republican lawmakers are rallying behind the still-unjustified investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election. (Like just about everything else the probe has produced so far, the Cohen matter appears unrelated to anything Russian.) (Snip)NeverTrumpers, who fantasize about Mueller hauling the president out of the White House in handcuffs, have formed yet another group to solidify congressional support for the special counsel. Jim Comey deserves a special place in the annals of sanctimonious frauds in Washington, D.C. He leaked, lied, bent rules, treated FBI material as his own personal property, violated confidential conversations, and generally acted like a government unto himself. But now he has the gall to write it all up in the sonorous nonsense language of “constitutional crisis.” His forthcoming memoir amounts to nothing more than the sour grapes of a self-serving operator over a wholly justified sacking. (Snip)What Comey calls “higher loyalty” is just adherence to the interests of an unaccountable ruling class and the needs of his own ego.

American Greatness and its Enemies

There is real greatness in the American character. The profound desire for vesting sovereignty in the people themselves rather than in an hereditary monarch or aristocracy, the wish to maximize individual freedom, and the hope for the securing of economic development and security for all are among our noblest of traditions. But there is also venality and naiveté that have endured in American politics, and those deleterious traits have always threatened the American experiment. Two of the worst blotches on American culture and politics are the extraordinary hatred Americans have often manifested against those with whom they have political disagreements, and,

Where will Paul Ryan end up after he leaves Congress at the end of his term? Just follow the money to Wall Street. That’s the assessment from Republican aides and people who know the soon-to-be former speaker of the House of Representatives. (Snip) But people in Congress who know Ryan say he has looked into following in the footsteps of his old friend and Republican house colleague, former Majority Leader Eric Cantor. After losing his seat in 2014, Cantor almost immediately went to work for the investment bank Moelis & Co. as the firm’s vice chairman and, of course, enjoyed a significant pay

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s raid on President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen has backfired in the eyes of voters, according to Rasmussen Reports. Prior to what many are describing as Mueller’s unprecedented stunt, the special counsel and former Obama official was held in high regard by a majority of the public. Back in October, a full 52 percent believed “Mueller’s investigation is an honest attempt to determine criminal wrongdoing.” That number is now down -6 points to just 46 percent. Moreover, the number of voters who now see Mueller’s probe is a “partisan witch hunt” has jumped a full +8

Paul Ryan’s announcement Wednesday that he is not running for re-election from his hitherto safe district in Wisconsin, coming as it did amidst the media-fueled fires of James Comey, Robert Mueller and all the other Stormy Danielses circling the Trump Administration, was the most underappreciated development of the day. Not necessarily because the Speaker of the House, an odd combination of Eddie Munster and Eddie Haskell, is stepping down to spend more time with his family, but because—no matter what happens to Trump—the real future of the Republican Party is now up for grabs. Feinstein is worried that Grassley is prepared to water down the bill with a surprise amendment, while Grassley says “it’s ridiculous” for her to try and dictate the committee process from the minority. Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said Wednesday that she is concerned President Trump acts as though he is "above the law." Albright, who served under Bill Clinton, commented in her new book, "Fascism: A Warning," that Trump is seemingly the least democratic commander-in-chief she has seen. Here’s an idea that wouldn’t survive the laughter in most U.S. communities. But this is California and more specifically, Los Angeles. So, local government is moving ahead with a plan to move some of the county’s exploding homeless populations off the streets and — wait for it — into your backyard. The idea is to build little homes or large huts, depending on your scale, in the backyard of willing homeowners. A kind of YIMBY — Yes In My Backyard. According to the county’s pilot program, rents to homeowners would be covered by government low-income housing vouchers with homeless tenants

Fired FBI Director James Comey’s new “tell all” book is a dream come true for President Donald Trump’s opponents and a hatchet job on the president. It’s important for every fair-minded person to remember that just because Comey makes a charge, he is not speaking gospel truth – despite his inflated sense of virtue and self-importance. Just about anyone who’s ever been fired fancies “getting even” with the boss. Comey’s new book does that in spades, according to excerpts leaked to the media Thursday. In the process, it lowers the reputation of both the FBI and Comey, undermines the presidency and hurts
