Is Trump’s EPA chief bluffing? Or will he
gut California’s tough emissions standards?

WASHINGTON - California officials and clean air advocates are increasingly concerned the Trump administration may attempt to unravel a key program to drive down greenhouse gas emissions from automobile fleets while also jeopardizing the ability of California and other states to set pollution standards stronger than federal rules. Backed by automakers, Trump officials are in talks with their California counterparts to weaken tough vehicle tailpipe standards approved by the Obama administration. The standards are aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, but could also help reduce emissions that cause smog and particulate

Just cut the 60 Billion Federal dollars California gets every year and let them collapse under the weight of their own regulations and Socialism! Besides, I don´t want any of my hard-earned tax dollars funding their follies!

Pruitt needs to rescind the Obama EPA´s carbon dioxide endangerment decision. That would remove the ability to regulate carbon dioxide emissions. If you ever want to read regulatory complexity at its worst, read the emission regulations.

#1, that tired falsehood is just leftist propaganda. CA pays over twice the amount to the feds as any other state. That the feds spend money on military installations here is something we have no control over, and the fact is that if we were using those places for other things it would benefit our economy greatly. We do not complain about bearing a disproportionate load when it comes to defense of this nation, and we rarely complain about our oversized contribution to the national budget.

As to the article at hand, it was the reduction and modernization of the steel mills in the south, and advances in the use of sawdust (eliminating sawdust burners) in the north that cleaned up our air. The politicians wanted credit for cleaning up the air, so the laws were passed.
As usual, a lot of people fell for the scam and have no clue as to what really happened.

NEW YORK — Recently filed federal charges against President Donald Trump’s ex-campaign chairman Paul Manafort could also pose legal and regulatory risks for the banks that loaned him millions of dollars against his New York real estate in recent years. The most serious exposure may be for a Rhode Island-based bank that employed a “conspirator” in Manafort’s scheme to obtain a loan he couldn’t afford, according to the 32-count new indictment unsealed this week. Dubbed “Lender B” in court papers, Citizens Bank not only lent Manafort $3.4 million based off of fraudulent documents but, in another case, appeared to help Manafort avoid

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel—the man whose agency failed to prevent the Parkland massacre despite having received a tip last November that Nikolas Cruz was plotting a mass shooting—has been accused of public corruption. Two years ago, the Sun Sentinel reported that Israel was rewarding top political supporters by giving them and their family members cushy jobs doing public relations and community outreach for the Broward County Sheriff´s Office. One such position, outreach manager, paid out a salary of $78,489. The person who got that job was the husband of Israel´s campaign manager. Israel had been a Republican but ran

PASSPORTS, LIKE ANY physical ID, can be altered and forged. That´s partly why for the last 11 years the United States has put RFID chips in the back panel of its passports, creating so-called e-Passports. The chip stores your passport information—like name, date of birth, passport number, your photo, and even a biometric identifier—for quick, machine-readable border checks. And while e-Passports also store a cryptographic signature to prevent tampering or forgeries, it turns out that despite having over a decade to do so, US Customs and Border Protection hasn´t deployed the software needed to actually verify it. This means that since

OXON HILL, Md. — One year after Steve Bannon’s appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference drew a crowd rivaling President Trump´s, the former White House chief strategist will not even set foot inside the Gaylord National Hotel for a conference that will showcase the people who now represent the Trump agenda. Bannon’s complete absence from an event that featured him heavily in 2017 demonstrates just how much the White House team — and the party itself — has shifted during the first year of Trump’s presidency. Just a few days before America’s Pastor, Billy Graham, succumbed to Parkinson’s or cancer or pneumonia (when you’re 99-years-young, ailments tend to arrive in multiple choice fashion), I was walking through Washington’s new Museum of the Bible with my family. As local museums go, the Bible museum is not a sexy one like, say, the National Museum of American History, which houses the artifacts our culture tends to prize more than the inspired word of God (Fonzie’s jacket, Seinfeld’s “puffy shirt,” etc.). And yet, my wife was blown back by a simple Billy Graham exhibit, as she read from a wall

Transnistria is the size of Dallas, Texas. Nestled between Moldova and Ukraine, it has a population of just under 500,000 residents who mostly speak Russian. And in the eyes of the world, it doesn’t officially exist. Once, Transnistria was part of Moldova, but in 1990 it declared independence after the fall of the Soviet Union and Moldova’s alliance with Romania. There was a brief war, with some 1,500 casualties, which ended in something of an impasse. Transnistria remained independent from Moldova, but is not officially recognized as its own nation. It’s not a part of any other country, and yet

Gotta hand it to Special Counsel Robert Mueller: He knows how to set off a stick of dynamite. I refer, of course, to his office’s recent indictment of thirteen Russians in Russia, which we are now to chase after, yelling “Pearl Harbor!” on the Left and “No collusion!” on the Right, forgetting all about the coalescing revelations of corruption and conspiracy and, yes, Russian influence, to elect Hillary Clinton in 2016, and, failing that, to destroy the Trump presidency. President Trump promised in November to bring the killers of border patrol agent Rogelio Martinez to justice and used his death to renew calls for a wall on the Mexico border. The FBI poured its resources into the investigation, conducting more than 650 interviews and 26 searches. While the president and others used agent Martinez´s death to make a political point, the FBI believes this was likely an accident, not a crime. It all happened in the town of Van Horn – more than 100 miles from El Paso and about 30 miles from the border, reports CBS News´ David Begnaud.

In a major embarrassment for NBC, ABC´s "World News Tonight" has beaten NBC "Nightly News" in total viewers during an Olympics week -- for the first time in more than 25 years. NBC’s loss is unprecedented as the network paid nearly a billion dollars for U.S. broadcast rights to the 2018 Winter Games and typically sees a huge ratings bump for all its programs during the Olympics. This time, however, with NBC´s Olympics coverage falling flat for many viewers and big news happening back home, NBC´s flagship evening news program lost to ABC. “That ABC is even challenging during the Olympics has

For the past year, chief executives have often talked about the new sense of moral responsibility that corporations have to help their communities and confront social challenges even when Washington won’t. What if the finance industry — credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard and American Express; credit card processors like First Data; and banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo — were to effectively set new rules for the sales of guns in America? Collectively, they have more leverage over the gun industry than any lawmaker. And it wouldn’t be hard for them to take a stand.

John Kasich’s inner circle is gearing up for a possible presidential run in 2020 — actively weighing the prospect of a Republican primary challenge to President Donald Trump against the feasibility of a long-shot general election campaign as an independent. And there’s one consideration driving their thinking perhaps more than any other: what some of his advisers consider the very real, maybe even likely, possibility that Trump doesn’t run again — by choice or not — or that the president becomes so politically hobbled by late next year that the political landscape fundamentally shifts in Kasich’s favor. That’s one reason

Adults who prostitute traumatized teenagers to advance their political agenda should be ashamed of themselves, and those at CNN who do it should be fired. A discussion among students at Oberlin High School in Oberlin, La., about a mathematical symbol led to a police investigation and a search of one of the student’s homes, according to the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office. On the afternoon of Feb. 20, detectives investigated a report of terroristic threats at the school, where they learned that a student had been completing a math problem that required drawing the square-root sign. Students in the group began commenting that the symbol, which represents a number that when multiplied by itself equals another number, looked like a gun.

A report released Friday claims four of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s deputies waited outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while the attack was occurring.
