Scandal, Corruption, Lawbreaking —
And So What?

National Review Online, by Victor Davis Hanson

The FISA-gate, Clinton emails, and Uranium One scandals are sort of reaching a consensus. Many things quite wrong and illegal were done by both Hillary Clinton and her entourage and members of the Obama agencies and administration — both the acts themselves and the cover-ups and omissions that ensued. Remember, in the FISA-gate scandal such likely widespread criminal behavior was predicated on two premises: 1) certainty of an easy Clinton victory, after which the miscreants would be not only excused but probably rewarded for their zeal; 2) progressive hubris in which our supposedly moral betters felt it their right,

It doesn´t help that "respected" U.S. Senators ...elected... like Warner and McCain are also involved in trying to end the Presidency of President Trump by aiding the breaking of U.S. laws. They get cover from the Senatorial colleagues .. their friends.. like my own Senators Collins and King who then are also implicated in the attempted overthrow of a lawfully elected President. It´s sad and infuriating at the same time.

Bravo Dr. Hanso!! Once again he nails it. This whole thing is so large that if no one is prosecuted for the major crimes committed then future administrations will have free will to weaponize any and all federal agencies against their opposition.

We would be well on our way to becoming a third world dictatorship and will soon have a president for life.

"Accepting any of these obfuscations would be a grave mistake."

ABSOLUTELY!

I don´t know if we will get to conviction and jail time but this was a major CONSPIRACY. The public may shrug their shoulders about one politician shoveling dirt on another, no matter how nasty they were about it.

However, those same politicians utilizing the federal government and media to facilitate their actions crosses a very BIG, very RED line. If it isn´t illegal, it should be.

If nothing else, the political operations of the dems and the Clintoon campaign need to be exposed, names named, and charges specified. Ethical and moral violations as well. All things Clintoon should be excoriated. No hang dog apologies accepted. Hillary and BJ should come out of this as pariahs if not convicted criminals. If there are pleas, they should be with ADMISSIONS of guilt and bans from government participation and access.

No one in the FBI, DOJ, intelligence, State, or any other government agency that had a knowing part in this should EVER work for the federal government again. No consulting, no interaction as part of a company, no nothing. Make permanent banishment part of a plea deal or freedom from prosecution.

Mueller should review his investigation and probably conclude that it is hopelessly tainted by corruption. He should name names and recommend for prosecutions. He should drop all ongoing prosecutions and rescind already entered pleas. He should sum up that, at this point there is NO evidence for Trump Russian collusion. Period. He should apologize to Trump for this abuse of prosecutorial power.

Mueller SHOULD be embarrassed and angry that he has been used like this. We will see if he really is an honorable man.

Still, Democrats at some point will see that what they thought was the formerly defensible is now becoming absolutely indefensible

Oh no, VDH, YOU have a purple unicorn too? Because Democrats will NEVER EVER do that.

What is needed? Attorney General Sessions must find muscular, ambitious, and combative prosecutors (preferably from outside Washington, D.C., and preferably existing federal attorneys), direct them to call a Grand Jury, and begin collating information from congressional investigations to get to the bottom of what is likely one of gravest scandals in post-war American history: the effort to use the federal government to thwart the candidacy of an unpopular presidential candidate and then to smear and ruin his early tenure as president.

I totally agree but that will happen when the space shuttle lands safely in my driveway and I win Powerball five times in a row without ever buying a ticket.

Love me some VDH but come on, Captain Obvious.......the double standard could not be more clear. The nasty habit of Leftists accusing innocent Conservatives of crimes which they are, themselves, knee deep in is too obvious....too repetitive....too clear to everyone. While Mssr. Trump may (or may not) be faultless and slippery and clean......his defenders must fear for their own closeted skeletons because NOTHING EVER HAPPENS to the bad guys in this long boring opera.

I used to write and post every damn day around here but now I´m down to once a month......am I the only one who feels "Punked" by the system ?

Three cheers for Preezy Trump but I´ll be playing golf and fishing until Obama and Felonia von Pantsuit are shaking the cold hard steel partitions at the grey bar hotel.

The Left is proudly A-moral and will continue it´s crimes against LIBERTY until confronted with the firing squad.

Yes.....nothing less than the firing squad .......on the six o´clock news.

Bashar al-Assad’s gas attack on the anniversary of President Trump’s missile strike against his regime was an invitation to get hit again, and the president is indeed promising another strike. We weren’t enthusiastic over the first one. Assad is, as Trump is now wont to say, an animal. He has destroyed his country in order to rule the rubble. He has brought untold suffering by every means possible and has no compunction about using banned chemical weapons as an instrument of terror. There is obviously utility in maintaining an international norm against the use of these especially cruel weapons. Our worry about

Government watchdog Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Departments of Justice and State Tuesday for a number of documents related to Uranium One. The filing comes four months after both Departments stonewalled legally requested information and failed to comply with a standard FOIA request. "This lawsuit is part of Judicial Watch’s continuing investigation of the highly controversial 2010 Uranium One deal. At the time, a Russia state-owned nuclear firm, Rosatom, sought to buy Uranium One, a Canadian mining company. Because Uranium One held licenses for 20 percent of America’s uranium production capacity, the sale had to

The Mark Zuckerberg who arrived at the Hart Senate Office Building on Tuesday afternoon very much resembled an adult. His hair was cut short. His dark-blue suit fit well. His presentation was polished, without glibness or arrogance. He said, “Yes, Senator” and “No, Senator,” with the slightly bemused deference of a curator giving a museum tour. The android-smooth forehead, now thirty-three years old, still appeared unmarked by age or adversity, but there were no flip-flops or pajamas this time; a small loosening of Zuckerberg’s Facebook-blue tie knot was his only variation from the Capitol’s accepted forms. The film "Chappaquiddick," which premiered last Friday, concerns the efforts of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., to save his career and reputation after the accident that killed Mary Jo Kopechne, a young, pretty aide to his dead brother Bobby. Kennedy intended to preserve his chances of running for president, like his two older brothers before him. But what if he wanted not to be president, and it was this desire that ruled from then on? Kennedy wished to remain in the Senate, which was the love of his life and for which he was suited. But the presidency at age 36

LOS ANGELES — “Dreamer” Marco Villada Garibay left the country on the U.S. government’s promise of a possible green card. Now he’s trapped in Mexico and might never be allowed to return. Villada, 34, came to the United States — the only country he knows — illegally from Mexico at age 6. Among its other consequences, Speaker Paul Ryan´s retirement from the House increases the chance that President Donald Trump will be impeached. Ryan´s decision accelerates the ongoing competition among his deputies to become the leader of the GOP in the House. But it will also dispirit fellow Republicans, diminish his ability to raise campaign funds and encourage more vulnerable incumbents to retire. All of that smooths the path for Democrats to recapture the House in November and hand Nancy Pelosi the speaker´s gavel once again.
