Smithsonian Unveils The Obamas´ Official
Portraits And They Are . . . Interesting

Monday morning, the Smithsonian´s National Portrait Gallery unveiled their official portraits of former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle. And while both portraits are the work of avant garde contemporary artists, in this case they might be just a touch too avant garde. Barack Obama´s portrait was done by pop artist Kehinde Wiley, who is well known for his hyper-realistic portraits of African American men and women, often done in the style of the Old Masters or with backgrounds familiar to fans of classical, "old world" European art. Wiley recreated Obama´s likeness in his trademark hyper-realistic way, with Obama

I just knew we would get to see her bare arms. The artist didn´t quite capture the angry black woman with the chip on her shoulder persona.

Her portrait looks like a young tanned white woman (with freakishly large hands).

The face on his portrait looks like he is sitting on the toilet with severe constipation.

I honestly don´t get the idea of painted portraits any more. We have great photography, and Photoshop to make it even prettier. At least a photo of Moo-chelle might have looked a little bit like her...

It doesn´t look like her, even if you can see beyond that dress. Artists seems to be a Gauguin wannabe. His has an odd setting.

Both paintings have too many image messages crammed in which detract from the two portrayed.

Barry´s picture is perfect. All that foliage is the perfect backdrop for a fruit.

Seated on the "throne" and legs spread, Barry Soetoro is pictured doing what he did to our country for eight long years. Looking at it that way, I declare the portrait appropriate.

Some artsy types may love it. I am certain others are laughing but they will never divulge their real opinion publicly. I searched for more of this “artist’s” work and found the common threads, black females looking fierce and oh catch the one with a black woman holding the severed head of a white woman/person. It absolutely makes perfect sense WHY the Obamas love this fellow! Kathy Griffin will wonder why an artist who painted THAT would be A ok with the PC crowd!

Looking at many of this prolific "artist´s" paintings, you see a common theme. It looks like she got the expressions from the morgue- they are all this plain, bland, expressionless, as in death, look about them. for women, that pale blue, sun burnt 1963 Ford Falcon flat is common, and for the men, the same expressionless face but with super busy background, that seems to absorb the subject in a dizzying sea of sameness, making all life seem to just evaporate out of the painting. The artist, Amy Sherald, is supposed to be a "Black Revolutionary" expressionist. And really, she is just a pretend artist with not the slightest understanding of what makes a painting come alive. She seems fixated, instead, on death and hopelessness. One thing for sure, she caught a sale on that uni-flat pale blue background paint.

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.

WASHINGTON — President Trump accused the F.B.I. on Friday, without evidence, of sending a spy to secretly infiltrate his 2016 campaign “for political purposes” even before the bureau had any inkling of the “phony Russia hoax.” In fact, F.B.I. agents sent an informant to talk to two campaign advisers only after they received evidence that the pair had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign. The informant, an American academic who teaches in Britain, made contact late that summer with one campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, according to people familiar with the matter. He also met repeatedly in the

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) warned Republican lawmakers on Friday not to expose the identity of top-secret FBI informant, saying that to do so would be "irresponsible" — and potentially illegal. "It would be at best irresponsible, and at worst potentially illegal, for members of Congress to use their positions to learn the identity of an FBI source for the purpose of undermining the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in our election," Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a statement. "Anyone who is entrusted with our nation’s highest secrets should act with the gravity and

Former Education Secretary Arne Duncan said parents should pull their children out of school until Congress passes gun control legislation. "What if no children went to school until gun laws changed to keep them safe?" Duncan tweeted Saturday. Duncan, who served as secretary under President Obama, called the step "tragically necessary." "My family is all in if we can do this at scale. Parents, will you please join us?" he said. Duncan´s plea comes one day after 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton told graduating students at Yale University on Sunday she was still grappling with the results of the 2016 election. "No, I’m not over it, I still think about the 2016 election, I still regret the mistakes I made,” Clinton said during an address as part of Yale University’s Class Day. “Today, as a person, I’m Okay. As an American, I’m concerned." “This is a moment to reach across divides of race, class, and politics to try to see the world through the eyes of people very different from ourselves and to return to rational
