‘All bets are off’ in NYC if federal
gun law passes: NYPD head

New York Post, by David K. Li

Police Commissioner James O’Neill said it would be “insanity” for the feds to force one state to recognize another’s lax gun laws. A bill making its way through Congress would make gun possession akin to a driver’s license — so one state’s looser regulations against concealed weapons would be protected in tougher anti-gun states, like New York. “I think it’s insanity,” O’Neill told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in an interview aired Sunday night. O’Neill said accidents and suicides — in addition to crime — could skyrocket with more out-of-state guns around town. “Right now, we have a good idea of who’s

Insanity is New York state´s refusal to recognize the Federal law protecting citizens traveling with firearms.

Stands to reason; more responsible gun owners -> less crime -> lower crime rate statistics -> reduction in need for cops-> diminished fiefdom.

“They don’t know the law!”
“We won’t know who these people are!”

They’re all lies. Most big cities are run by liberals. the police chiefs know what to say to keep their jobs.

I am a New Yorker and torn by its gun laws because they are clearly unconstitutional and yet New York City has been successful in fighting crime and I have never been able to tell if its enforcement of gun laws has helped. Having said that, I completely agree with those above who lament NYC´s fascist prosecution of people who make technical errors in gun transport here and have their lives ruined. Also, the very nature of those who pass background checks and can carry weapons around makes it clear that they are the least likely to commit gun crimes or any other kinds of crimes, so I can only hope the federal law passes and NYC is forced to do something sensible.

60 minutes is too biased and stupid to ask this slob why NY state permit holders can´t carry in his town. After all O´Neill, NY permit holders commit less crime than NYC police or any NY police force. Why aren´t they welcomed into ´your´ city as a counter to the anti-Irish/black Sullivan Laws, which have been blatantly anti-constitutional for centuries?

´Insanity´ is allowing corrupt morons rule you. If this tool has such a good idea of who is armed, why over 300 murders every year, why rising gun crime the last 2 years? NYC hacks think the entire state is like their filthy town. So isolated they can´t even describe the process to get a concealed carry permit for the rest of NY state.

#3 if you think Russians or any criminal element in NYC is obeying the Sullivan Laws or deterred by them, you are operating under wishful thinking. Same for the rest of the state and all across the world.

There is a HUGE gap between no one can have guns and ´everyone´ can. The ´debate´ is never about who society thinks can not be responsible, only who our want to be ´rulers´ think can´t be trusted. Can a lunatic buy a gun? Not if even a few of the many Federal laws are followed.

On the other hand you have a demonstrably violent, threatening, not too bright, actor like Robert DeNiro who has had a concealed carry license for NY state AND NYC for decades. Does that make you feel safe? I guess as long as he doesn´t fixate on you like he does President Trump, you would not care. Unfortunately for him Donald Trump has had the same ´special´ permit for years as well. You see how it works in NYC? If you are famous, rich or a friend of the court, or a jewelry courier or the supreme hypocrite Charles Schumer, you can get a legal permit. Or you just lie like the Ferguson criminal and get a gun and murder white NYC commuters on a train. The system works great, except for the collateral damage of the poor souls who thought some NYC law would protect them. Some of us in the rest of the state, across the city line, have a fighting chance and even maniacs like Ferguson know that.

This law is NOT a good idea.
A court case establishing that firearms permits are valid across state lines would be. Once the Feds get to regulate this we are just 2 steps from Federal licensing regulations and one president away from all transportation across state lines being banned.

Be VERY careful what you wish for.

An armed society is a safe society. In towns where they have ordered its people to be armed, crime has almost disappeared.

Just look at Switzerland where all citizens are required to be armed and are used from time to time like a standby militia.

The law just says that, like a driver´s license, states would have to honor CCW permits from other states. No Federal power increase there at all.

A man who injured two people when he opened fire in an Oklahoma City restaurant Thursday night was shot dead by an armed bystander, police said. The suspect walked into a Louie’s restaurant in the Lake Hefner area and shot two people inside, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department. A person with a pistol confronted the gunman and fatally shot him, the cops said. The two victims, both females, were taken to the hospital where they were recovering. It was unclear Thursday night why the gunman opened fire in the restaurant.

Last week, the House of Representatives — by a margin of more than 10 to 1 — approved a completely gratuitous, blatantly unconstitutional bill that would make assaulting a police officer a federal crime. The lopsided vote was a bipartisan portrait in cowardice that vividly showed how readily politicians forsake their oaths of office to keep their hold on power. The Protect and Serve Act prescribes a prison sentence of up to 10 years for anyone who “knowingly assaults a law-enforcement officer,” thereby “causing serious bodily injury,” or “attempts to do so.” Such conduct is, of course, already illegal in

The driver of a Tesla electric car had the vehicle’s semi-autonomous Autopilot mode engaged when she slammed into the back of a Utah fire truck over the weekend, in the latest crash involving a car with self-driving features. The 28-year-old driver of the car told police in suburban Salt Lake City that the system was switched on and that she had been looking at her phone before the Friday evening crash. Tesla’s Autopilot system uses radar, cameras with 360-degree visibility and sensors to detect nearby cars and objects. It’s built so cars can automatically change lanes, steer, park and brake to help avoid collisions.
