Elon Musk observed that "brand is just a perception, and perception will match reality over time. Sometimes it will be ahead, other times it will be behind. But brand is simply a collective impression some have about a product." When Time Magazine reported the Davos elite had decided that America No Longer Matters, it is proper to ask ´what no longer mattered? The perception of America or the reality´? "A year after Trump’s election raised the prospect of revolution, the elites have regained their confidence. The revolt had been put down, stock markets are up, and globalism is making a

This is an excellent article about the power of bureaucracy to undo liberty. There is an additional threat. I once asked my favorite professor what the lesson of Vietnam was, and he answered with one word:

"Media."

A war being won in the air and on the ground was lost by the American media. Leftists wanted an American defeat, and liberal journalists like Walter Cronkite made it their business to give it to them.

Everything that would be good for America is now held hostage to a narrative shaped by media corporations and celebrities raised on a premise of hostility toward our country.

The contemporary media wants to destroy the America that is and replace it with an America that would be unrecognizable to journalists like Teddy White and David Brinkley--men who loved their country.

The men who wrote our Constitution believed that freedom of the press was an essential bulwark of liberty. They could not have anticipated the power that modern media has to destroy liberty from within, nor would they have tolerated it.

Asha Rangappa, a former FBI agent, argues that the FBI didn’t spy on the Trump campaign (or use an informant, as she delicately puts it) to go after Donald Trump. Rather, it did so to protect him. Rangappa argues that the FBI should have investigated alleged Russian infiltration of the Trump campaign aggressively and directly, given the gravity of this threat. However, she continues, it elected to investigate quietly through an informant in order to avoid casting public suspicion on the campaign and to thereby avoid injuring Trump. It’s a creative argument but there are a few problems. First, it assumes, in

It´s still Sigmund Freud´s world. The rest of us are imprisoned in it. The whole intellectual apparatus behind political correctness, micro-aggression theory, totalitarian campus speech codes, the #metoo obsession with sexual mistreatment--all of it begins with Freud. Frederick Crews´ new book Freud: The Making of an Illusion shreds the reputation of the founder of psychoanalysis. It´s a detective story worthy of the ages and a terrific read, but more importantly, it´s a corrective to reigning liberal ideology. You can´t understand liberalism unless you know Freud, and you can´t appreciate what a tissue of lies and half-truths

One of the more notable differences between Watergate and the metastasizing scandals involving the FBI, our intelligence agencies, and the Obama administration -- subjects of the soon-to-be-released inspector general´s report -- is that the media exposed Watergate. They aided and abetted the current transgressions. By providing a willing and virtually unquestioned repository for every anonymous leaker (as long as he or she was on the "right" side) in Washington and beyond, the press has evolved from being part of the solution to being a major part of the problem. Gone are the days of the true "whistle-blower."

A student at Santa Fe High School in Texas killed ten people today and wounded ten more, according to reports. The attacker used two guns — a shotgun and a .38 revolver. Both were owned legally by his father, according to the same reports. One of the wounded was a retired police officer hired by the school as a “resources officer.” He confronted the killer, who shot him. Another resources officer also engaged the killer. This occurred early on and is thought to have limited the bloodshed. I believe armed school personnel are the key to ending the rash of school shootings because their ability to thwart shooters will deter these losers from

When I talk to Trump-haters, invariably the first thing they cite against him is his tweets. And, in truth, they have sometimes been impolitic. But on the whole, I think Twitter has helped him. This Associated Press news story illustrates why. "President Donald Trump’s attorney said Friday the special counsel in the Russia probe has narrowed the scope of potential questions for the president, even as Trump advanced an unverified theory that the Justice Department planted a spy in his 2016 campaign…" It comes from the New York Times, so, yeah, it’s unverified. It is only through ignorance or suppression of the truth that anyone can believe in the leftist worldview, a kind of bad morality play that would be merely amusing were it not so influential. Of this feminism is a representative example. Motivated by status envy, which is a reflection of human nature’s difficult need for esteem, feminists have a perverse conception of history. It never seems to occur to them that men no more chose their greater physical strength and, yes, greater ability to engage in abstract thought at the highest level than women chose to be mothers, with all the grueling burdens that accompany that fate.

American journalists hate Donald Trump so much they have become exactly what he says they are: the purveyors of fake news. Take for example the New York Times, a former newspaper. The Times used to pride itself on exposing and denigrating our military, intelligence and law enforcement services. The Pentagon Papers, Abu Ghraib, enhanced interrogation, search and seizure: the Times fought hard to thwart the work of our services when they were fighting against and spying on our enemies. But now that it turns out the FBI and CIA leadership may have been subverting our political process to try to thwart Donald

There are a number of ways. Here’s one: If people living in the country want to be on a government’s enemies list, the government is not authoritarian. No one within the jurisdiction of an authoritarian government wants to be on its enemies list. Being on such a list isn’t healthy. One can easily end up in jail, go missing, or even be assassinated. Under non-authoritarian governments, being on an enemies list can be a source of status. It enables one to preen — to virtue-signal — without paying a price. Richard Nixon had an enemies list. Washington liberals wanted to be on it. Prominent liberals not on the list were peeved.

Clapper admitted the FBI “may have had someone who was talking to them in the campaign,” referring to President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He explained away the possibility of an FBI informant spying on the campaign as the bureau was trying to find out “what the Russians were doing to try to substantiate themselves in the campaign or influence or leverage it.” Obama’s Director of National Intelligence then went on to say, “So,

It means that five family members have to die before you get the real goodies. Granted, those goodies are amazing. The President, who is usually especially active on the social media network early in the day, did not tweet anything all morning about the nuptials between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which ended at 9.00am ET. Rumors swirled about whether Trump would be invited to the wedding at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, but he was eventually left off the guest list, along with other political leaders. Students have raised $35,000 for the event, mostly from schools within the university.

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.

All Trump displays is “a reality-show facsimile of toughness,” the six-term Arizona senator and former GOP presidential candidate, who for a generation of Washington politicians has defined genuine toughness, writes in his forthcoming memoir.
