Olympic Venue Surrounded by Dog Meat
Farms, Dog Soup on Menus Despite Protests

Breitbart Sports, by Penny Starr

The South Korean government offered restaurants serving dog-meat soup money to take it off the menu during the 2018 Olympic winter games taking place in Pyeongchang but most refused, according to media reports. AFP News Agency reported last week: South Koreans are believed to consume about one million dogs a year as a summertime delicacy, with the greasy red meat – which is invariably boiled for tenderness – believed to increase energy. Activists have stepped up campaigns to ban dog consumption, with online petitions urging boycotts of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics over the issue, and protests in Seoul. Local

The hilarious part is the liberals that are buying the dogs before slaughter at a premium to "rescue" them, thereby subsidizing the dog meat market.
That only serves to make raising dogs for slaughter even more profitable.

It goes to show that we can have our own morals and values, but not expect to have everyone else in the world toe our line.

I wonder if Obie and Mooch are reading this - or if those two hypocrites really care about such things? (Wonder where the two photo op pups ended up? Has anyone seen them lately?)

In 1973, I "rescued" a puppy destined for the pot without actually realizing it when living with my family in Korea south of Seoul. Kids wanted a puppy and I asked a Korean employee/friend to help. He took me to a large shop that had various animals and fowls. That´s where we got "Puppy" who moved on with us to Michigan, Maryland, and Virginia before being overtaken by old age. (After my purchase, Mr. Yang had educated me about the shop.)

2. I spent time in Korea while in the USMC. They eat puppies.

I´m a dog lover. There is a dog beside my chair right now but I grew up in a rural area. We ate beef, pork, lamb, fish, turtles, chickens, ducks, geese, squirrel, raccoons, wild rabbits, domestic rabbits, quail, pheasant, frogs, guinea, doves and more. If the Koreans eat dogs, that´s their business, not mine.

Visit foreign lands and have a good time, but realize that it´s not your world over there. Or, mutatis mutandis, your not pet´s. All of my cats during my adult life were strays or rescues, just as precious as any breeder´s rare pedigreed kittens.

In the novel--not the movie--Goldfinger, the deadly Korean (in the novel) manservant Oddjob, after, at Goldfinger´s command, breaking a stair railing in two with one impassive downward swoop of his hand then putting a dent in a wooden mantelpiece with a flying side kick seven feet off the ground, was rewarded with a cat to eat. Goldfinger (earlier): "Do you like cats?" Bond: "Sufficiently." Ian Fleming was a dry master.

After this, I think I may become a vegetarian. It is true that American culinary tastes should not be exported to other sovereign nations, but the thought of eating Fido, Kitty or Seabiscuit turns my stomach. I guess because in the US, these animals can be domesticated and become a member of US families as these animals hold a different hierarchy than in different cultures. Just think of certain Asian cultures that revere cows. Burger King and McDonald´s would be blasphemy.

when I was a wee child in Baguio City, PI I spotted a group of men standing around a pit, spit roasting some kind of animal. I asked my mom what it was and she said it was a pig - and dragged me out of there fast.

Years later she told me it was really a dog. It´s cultural. We eat all kinds of critters that I´m certain someone somewhere on this planet finds repulsive. Just don´t try to make me eat dog or rat or cat. Don´t think I would truly enjoy raccoon, beaver, whale, seal or muskrat either. I´m not Andrew Zimmern...

In the U.S. federalist system, each state government decides how to generate revenue — that is, which taxes to collect, and how. No state tax code is identical and, largely as a result, what the average American pays annually in taxes varies from state to state. 24/7 Wall Street reviewed the tax burden of residents in each state — the portion of income that goes to state and local governments’ taxes — from the report, “Facts & Figures 2017: How Does Your State Compare?” provided by tax policy research organization Tax Foundation. WASHINGTON — Supreme Court justices say they do not act politically when they decide cases. But they freely admit to taking account of politics in deciding when to retire. Most justices, for instance, try to step down under politically like-minded presidents. “That’s not 100 percent true,” Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist said in 1999, six years before he died, “but it certainly is true in more cases than not.” Such political calculations are perfectly proper, he said, as “deciding when to step down from the court is not a judicial act.” For the second year in a row, rumors that

One of the most compelling moments in the musical “Hamilton” is the entry of Gen. George Washington as the American rebels suddenly face 32,000 British troops in New York Harbor. It’s not just his dramatic, staccato lines (“We’re outgunned. Outmanned. Outnumbered. Outplanned”), but the fact that the guy playing him is black. This is part of what makes the show so magical — its forthright adaptation of America’s Founders for all of today’s Americans. But the filing also knocks the teeth out of the “collusion” claim. That is, the charges are a strong sign that there’s nothing to Democrats’ charge that Team Trump worked with Russia to steal the 2016 election. Mueller confirms that the trolling entity, the Internet Research Agency, used fake accounts on Facebook and Twitter to spread disinformation, sway public opinion and promote rallies.
