NBC Sports has apologized for an incendiary comment made during Friday´s Opening Ceremony led to widespread anger and tens of thousands of angry social media posts. In the booth with Mike Tirico and Katie Couric, NBC Asian correspondent Joshua Cooper Ramo said that "every Korean" respected Japan for their recent achievements as a nation, insinuating that South Korea had forgotten about the 35 brutal years of Japanese rule that ended after World War II. "His incorrect and insensitive comment about Korea´s history has enraged many of [Korea´s] people," wrote Jung Min-ho in The Korea Times. NBC issued an apology a

The poor "smart" things do not realize how ill-informed/uneducated they really are. Like Adam Schiff (a senator no less) talking about Nixon being impeached, which he was not. They do not reflect well on America; and I wish they would open their minds and ears.

Historical ignorance and the need for diversity to be the end of all efforts lead to this type of incident. But hey, it’s how he felt about it so no big deal.

I am not a big believer in "insinuations", taking people´s statements for what is said, nothing more, nothing less. There is enough to worry about without worrying about insinuations.

Why should NBC bring Japanese-Korean attitudes and political slants up at the Olympics anyway? That´s all past history now and has nothing to do with the Olympic games.

NBC´s big problem is that they do not have enough Olympics related facts to talk about all through their extensive programming, so they drift off into areas that have nothing to do with the Olympics making comments that are bound to offend one group or another. The NBC guy who made the offending remarks was identified during on air programming as an Asia expert, obviously he is not, and should be replaced by someone who knows what he or she is talking about.

For many centuries Korea was one country until the Japanese occupation that lasted for several decades until the end of the Second World War. That occupation is known to Koreans as the catalyst that split Korea in two after the Second World War, with the North controlled by the Kim Dynasty becoming a Soviet Communist model state in concord with Red China and Soviet Russia; and with the South occupied by American troops becoming a democratic and free country.

After that came the 1950-53 Korean War that started when the North Koreans invaded South Korea to unify the Korean Peninsula under the control of the Kim Dynasty. Since 1953 that war as been in a cease fire phase, no peace treaty has ever been signed, and could start up again at anytime. Unification of the entire peninsula under the Kim Dynasty is still the ultimate objective of North Korea today.

Its what I call "Cocktail Party Knowledge". This guy picks up a tidbit at some party listening to some other dolt. Now he has a big shiny fact to wow someone later. Its especially common in TV News. When he gets to use the info, its usually incomplete or makes no sense to the current conversation. Years ago during a tornado, some monster 200+mph wind thing is rolling through OK. The two talking heads are saying how bad it is (Thanks). One guy brings up his tidbit. "The flashes you see arent lightning. That the power lines exploding. The flashes are the transformers. And that is dangerous because they have oil in them that have PCBs. And PCBs are dangerous". No longer the 200+ mph wind tornado.

But, more importantly, where is that doofus? Why didn´t HE "apologize" for his stupidity? Or is Mr. Ramo still working at NBC, but, just down in the basement, studying floor drain bacteria?

President Donald Trump’s outrage over another apparent chemical weapons attack by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was clear. And for the second time in his presidency, the U.S. commander-in-chief demanded retaliation. As images of sick or dying children flooded global media all week, the U.S. guided-missile destroyer USS Winston Churchill churned toward the Mediterranean to join a flotilla of allied warships, including another U.S. destroyer, the USS Donald Cook. It was a ruse. While both vessels carry as many as 90 Tomahawk missiles -- the main weapon used in the Friday evening strike on Syria -- neither ship in the end fired

The Chicago storefront is part of a batch of 265 Sears and Kmart locations that were purchased by the real estate investment trust Seritage Growth Properties in 2015, then leased back by the retailer.
