Up Schiff’s Creek Without a Paddle

Schadenfreude is pleasure derived from someone else’s misfortune. Not wishing such on anyone, but instead enjoying a smile or a laugh when karma returns to bite someone on the rear end. Today schadenfreude is in the midwinter air, blowing briskly over hapless Congressman Adam Schiff, a frequent flier on Sunday talk shows and cable news interviews. As the ranking member of the House Select Intelligence Committee, he is in the thick of the recently released memos revealing how Hillary Clinton bought her way under the tent of the Trump campaign via the Obama justice and intelligence agencies. Congressman Schiff was punked by

"An important politician like Schiff is busy. Or should be."

As we have seen from tens of thousands of e-mails, these people are not busy at all. Even Hillary had time to wear out her keyboard on yoga discussions and wedding plans while holding one of the most important cabinet positions. Her SS protection is a complete waste since nobody cares what she does today.

Perhaps having 535 people representing us is far too many, given the poor job they do. Cut the House down to one third that size and the Senate to 1 person per state. That would add up to a sizable cost savings if you consider their multiple offices, salaries, benefits, staffs and travel expenses. Then get started on the really useless agencies. That budget deficit will disappear quickly.

Of course the MSM will carry the story that Schiff was merely participating in a merry prank, so the consequences of this becoming public will be minimal. But is there some way people (like us) outside the Congress can call for one of these "ethics investigations" to rain on his parade?

The civil war between the Fox News Channel news and opinion sides appears to be hardening with chief political anchor Bret Baier having joined the fray. On Thursday May 17, Baier, a 20-year high-profile veteran of Fox News, entered the lion’s den – one of the hearts of the anti-Trump Resistance – when he went on the ABC Television Network daytime women’s chat show The View. His guest shot in “enemy territory” was a prominent stop on the media tour to promote his new book on Reagan and Gorbachev, Three Days in Moscow. The royal wedding is on, and for those of us watching, it was a relief to see that tradition abounded. (snip) President Trump took that very graciously, and despite not being invited, sent gifts - the traditional official bowl, of course, but also donations to Harry and Meghan´s favorite charities, likely out of his own pocket. And with additional class, he sent gracious warm wishes. The press grudgingly reported that. But after all the wall-to-wall speculation about whether he or President Obama would get an invitation, and quite a few in the press thought President Obama would, the press was curiously silent about whether

This is a historic moment of bated breath and tight sphincters all over Clintonworld. After decades of skating on their grifts, abuses, and outright crimes, a reckoning is coming. And not just for the Hillary Clinton, but for her enablers. The leaks begin about the I.G. report on the Hillary Clinton email investigation Until Wednesday, there had been virtually no genuine leaks coming out of the inspector general´s office at the Department of Justice – the sign of a probe with integrity. But that silence ended when the I.G.´s office circulated relevant portions of its report to people named in it,

An opinionated tabloid cover can be effective, but only if the point made is so obvious that an entire audience can see and relate to it. It also helps if it is humorous and has a witty headline. What it´s not is garbage that looks as though it comes straight from fake news, or compares apples to oranges in the name of promoting the propaganda of some unhappy terrorist group. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
