A California judge ruled Monday the state couldn’t force a cake shop owner to bake a cake for a gay couple’s wedding, ruling that doing so would constitute a violation of free speech. Superior Court Judge David Lampe denied the State of California’s request for a preliminary injunction that sought to force bakeshop owner Cathy Miller to design a wedding cake for a gay couple. “For this court to force such compliance would do violence to the essentials of Free Speech guaranteed under the First Amendment,” Lampe ruled, according to a press release sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Can you imagine all of the examples of what could go wrong with a decision to the contrary? Nazi themed cake at a Jewish baker, KKK cake at a Black owned bakery, choose life cake at a radical feminist bakery......

But then again the left being who the are would have no problem deciding which are and are not to be allowed.

Good ruling, assuming this report isn´t distorting it. But bearing in mind that another court could still overturn it on appeal, I´ll limit myself to cautious optimism at this point.

Judge Lampe was appointed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I guess he did one good thing. Link below. Some lefty judge at an appeals court will never let that stand. Isn´t it sad that in this day and age you immediately look to see who a particular judge was appointed by because it does make a difference.

This was a bad ruling as it leaves these kind of situations open to interpretation.
It should have been ruled unconstitutional as it is involuntary servitude, NOT free speech.
The courts have been flexible when it comes to states putting some limits on speech, but has been inflexible when it comes to a citizen forcing someone into involuntary servitude.

Breast cancer patients could be encouraged to cut asparagus and other foods from their diets in the future to reduce the risk of the disease spreading, scientists say. Researchers are investigating whether a change in diet could help patients with breast tumours after studies in mice showed that asparagine, a compound first identified in asparagus but present in many other foods, drives the spread of the disease to other organs. When scientists reduced asparagine in animals with breast cancer, they found that the number of secondary tumours in other tissues fell dramatically. The spread of malignant cells, often to the bones, lungs and brain, is the main cause of death among patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

John Kasich’s inner circle is gearing up for a possible presidential run in 2020 — actively weighing the prospect of a Republican primary challenge to President Donald Trump against the feasibility of a long-shot general election campaign as an independent. And there’s one consideration driving their thinking perhaps more than any other: what some of his advisers consider the very real, maybe even likely, possibility that Trump doesn’t run again — by choice or not — or that the president becomes so politically hobbled by late next year that the political landscape fundamentally shifts in Kasich’s favor. That’s one reason
