The governor of Hawaii wanted to inform the public that they would not die in a ballistic missile attack — but he forgot his Twitter password. Gov. David Ige said Sunday that he could not access his Twitter account on the morning of Jan. 13 — while Hawaiians were reeling after receiving the false emergency missile alert on their cellphones. “I have to confess that I don’t know my Twitter account log-ons and the passwords,” Ige said, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “So certainly that’s one of the changes that I’ve made. I’ve been putting that on my phone so

I can forgive the password forgetfulness, but does the governor use Twitter to send life and death messages?

My God. Doesn´t he have a hot-line or a Pineapple Line to his civil defense people?

The shocking story has gone viral: A passenger boarded a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York with her two children and her 10-month-old French bulldog, Kokito. Despite Kokito being in a TSA-compliant carrier, there was an issue with fitting the carrier under the seat as required. The flight attendant took the carrier and placed it in the overhead compartment. Kokito was dead before the flight landed at LaGuardia Airport. How could this happen? The flight attendant is claiming she wasn’t aware there was a dog in the carrier, but this is implausible. The dog’s owner and her 11-year

The last NYPD cops assigned full-time to New York City public schools are being moved out — despite nationwide calls for heightened security in the wake of last month’s Florida shootings. As the nation mourned the 17 victims of the school massacre at Parkland, Fla., the NYPD was removing Sgt. Raul Espinet from his post at Francis Lewis HS in Fresh Meadows, Queens — where he had worked for more than a dozen years. Parents, teachers and students are livid over the beloved cop’s departure. “My colleagues think it’s outrageous — and really stupid,” teacher Arthur Goldstein said. “We’re not

Open government isn’t just good government. It’s the public’s right. In Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and Broward County school district are fighting to keep exterior surveillance video from the day of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hidden from view. As journalists and citizens who’ve waged uphill battles against secrecy well know, government agencies too often invoke broad disclosure exemptions in the name of protecting public safety when they’re really just trying to protect their own jobs. Feckless Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and media darling school Superintendent Robert Runcie are defendants in an open-records

Florida lawmakers shot down an amendment on Monday that would have banned semi-automatic “assault” weapons like the AR-15 used in the Parkland school massacre. They did, however, agree to raise the legal age for purchasing a firearm to 21 — and approved legislation that would give teachers the right to carry guns in school, NBC-2 reports. The amendments were introduced as part of a packaged set of bills being offered up following Nikolas Cruz’ alleged shooting spree at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Florida’s Senate Rules Committee spent more than two hours debating the gun-control issues before eventually casting their

Castro, 41, blocked Jackson’s car in with his own vehicle in the Foxhurst section, and they began arguing heatedly at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said. First there was the casual sexism: the reason white women didn’t back her when she ran for president, Hillary Clinton believes, is “a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.” Have you noticed that her sneering always seems to take the same form?
