The governor of Hawaii wanted to inform the public that they would not die in a ballistic missile attack — but he forgot his Twitter password. Gov. David Ige said Sunday that he could not access his Twitter account on the morning of Jan. 13 — while Hawaiians were reeling after receiving the false emergency missile alert on their cellphones. “I have to confess that I don’t know my Twitter account log-ons and the passwords,” Ige said, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “So certainly that’s one of the changes that I’ve made. I can forgive the password forgetfulness, but does the governor use Twitter to send life and death messages?

My God. Doesn´t he have a hot-line or a Pineapple Line to his civil defense people?

Why should hitting a cop be

Last week, the House of Representatives — by a margin of more than 10 to 1 — approved a completely gratuitous, blatantly unconstitutional bill that would make assaulting a police officer a federal crime. The lopsided vote was a bipartisan portrait in cowardice that vividly showed how readily politicians forsake their oaths of office to keep their hold on power. The Protect and Serve Act prescribes a prison sentence of up to 10 years for anyone who “knowingly assaults a law-enforcement officer,” thereby “causing serious bodily injury,” or “attempts to do so.” Such conduct is, of course, already illegal in

What started as a traffic stop quickly turned into a high-speed chase, back-to-back crashes and an arrest that happened thanks, in part, to the suspect’s pants falling down. Tobias Smith, 24, faces a long list of charges stemming from the chaotic chase and crashes. Daytona Beach police say they tried to pull Smith over Tuesday for trying to cut through a parking lot along West International Speedway Boulevard to avoid a traffic light. Documents say Smith took off on North Nova Road. Smith made a hard right from the center lane onto Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, police say, and at

The driver of a Tesla electric car had the vehicle’s semi-autonomous Autopilot mode engaged when she slammed into the back of a Utah fire truck over the weekend, in the latest crash involving a car with self-driving features. The 28-year-old driver of the car told police in suburban Salt Lake City that the system was switched on and that she had been looking at her phone before the Friday evening crash. Tesla’s Autopilot system uses radar, cameras with 360-degree visibility and sensors to detect nearby cars and objects. It’s built so cars can automatically change lanes, steer, park and brake to help avoid collisions.
