Bob Costas left off NBC’s Super Bowl
coverage only months after saying
football ‘destroys people’s brains’

New York Daily News, by Ari Gilberg

What a coincidence. Months after Bob Costas publicly said football “destroys people’s brains,” NBC mysteriously left the legendary broadcaster off of its Super Bowl broadcast team. Costas will be replaced by Dan Patrick, who will serve as the host of NBC’s Super Bowl LII pregame show alongside co-host Liam McHugh. The duo will be joined by “Football Night in America” analysts Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Mike Florio and Chris Simms, the network announced in a press release Monday. Costas previously addressed the dangers of playing football while speaking on a panel at the University of Maryland along with other sports journalists and personalities

IMHO Bob Costas started the virtue signalling snowflake political movement in sports when he used his time during a Monday Night Football game to lecture the USA about the eeeevils of gun ownership. I believe it was right after the Columbine incident and yes there were some raw feelings in our country. But using your segment on MNF is not the place nor time. It was as inappropriate then as it is today.

He should have been sacked (fired, canned, terminated, ...) immediately and told to apply for work at the NYTimes.

Well I won´t miss him. I always mute him and other krypto commies (like, say, Wan Williams) whenever they start to speak and resume sound when they´re done, even tho the replacements like Dan Pugh, aren´t anywhere near the MAGA group.

Many years ago I thought Costas did a pretty good job. Then one day (maybe it was the incident that #2 refers to) he went off on some left-wing political rant.
I have not watched or listened to him since.
It does not matter what he is covering. My memory of that rant has permanently ´marked´ him as someone who prompts me to change the channel - to something else- or turn off the TV completely.

During last month’s State of the Union address, President Trump called on Congress to end the automatic budget caps enacted in 2013, which have significantly limited the expansion of defense spending. In a rare show of political support, the chiefs of staff of each armed-service branch cheered the president’s call. And yet, unmentioned in the House chamber—and unnoticed by most viewers—was the fact that trillions of dollars meant to support American troops have been spent for purposes unknown even to our elected representatives. On September 10, 2001, then U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld disclosed that his department was unable to account

American government is supposed to look and sound like George Washington. What it actually looks and sounds like is Henry Hill from Goodfellas: bad suit, hand out, intoning the eternal mantra: “F*** you, pay me.” American government mostly works by interposition, standing between us, the free people at whose sufferance it exists, and the things we want to do. Want to drive a car? “F*** you, pay me.” Own a home? “F*** you, pay me.” Want to build an extension on that home? “F*** you, pay me.” Got a job? “F*** you, pay me.” Business good? “F*** you, pay me.” Business

The convention, which took place in California in 2002, is just the latest tie to emerge between Democrats and the Nation of Islam, a black nationalist group known for being viciously anti-Semitic. “We have Maxine Waters here,” Farrakhan told the convention audience, gesturing to the seats behind him, “our great congresswoman from this area.” The audience cheered Waters’ name. As usual, it seemed to come out of nowhere. And, as usual, it didn’t. The murderer who took the lives of 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Fla., was on everybody’s radar, from the school authorities to the local police to the FBI, which failed to follow its own protocols when a person close to the future killer called to warn the bureau that he was contemplating a school massacre. After 18 months of Russia, Russia, Russia, we finally meet a cast of real Russians. But par for the convoluted course, they were pretending to be Americans. The indictments obtained by special counsel Robert Mueller on Vladimir Putin’s attempts to create discord in the 2016 election and eventually support Donald Trump are important both for what they say and what they don’t say. They offer huge victories for Trump — and thus more defeats for Hillary Clinton — but they don’t close the books on everything about 2016. The very good news for the president is that the indictments are firm in saying

President Donald Trump’s immigration hard-liners proved Thursday it is possible to win even when the outcome of a battle is, on paper, a draw. An immigration overhaul amendment backed by the administration received fewer votes Thursday than three other Senate proposals that also failed to pass the Senate. But the White House emerged from that chamber’s underwhelming and unproductive floor debate in strong shape for future fights on the issue. At first glance, the vote results suggest the White House was the big loser Thursday. After all, a Senate immigration measure it endorsed got the fewest ‘aye’ votes — 39 — with

In the coming days, we will hear a familiar profile about the Broward County school shooter. (No, I will not name him, for the reason below.) He was mentally deficient. He was a loner. He expressed violent tendencies. And likely, if the pattern holds, he was prescribed some kind of drugs to control his behavior. But there is also a media behavioral profile for these situations, and it is perfectly matched to the desires of a deranged person who would like to go out in a blaze of glory. The FBI was warned about Cruz after he posted on YouTube saying he was going to become a “professional school shooter.” The agency said they couldn’t identify the user who made the threat, despite Cruz posting under his own name. Five months later, Cruz pulled the fire alarm at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and began shooting his former classmates with his AR-15. By the end of the week, the immigration debate seemed deadlocked between the fate of the Dreamers and the fate of the wall.
