Bob Costas left off NBC’s Super Bowl
coverage only months after saying

What a coincidence. Months after Bob Costas publicly said football “destroys people’s brains,” NBC mysteriously left the legendary broadcaster off of its Super Bowl broadcast team. Costas will be replaced by Dan Patrick, who will serve as the host of NBC’s Super Bowl LII pregame show alongside co-host Liam McHugh. The duo will be joined by “Football Night in America” analysts Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Mike Florio and Chris Simms, the network announced in a press release Monday. Costas previously addressed the dangers of playing football while speaking on a panel at the University of Maryland along with other sports journalists and personalities

IMHO Bob Costas started the virtue signalling snowflake political movement in sports when he used his time during a Monday Night Football game to lecture the USA about the eeeevils of gun ownership. I believe it was right after the Columbine incident and yes there were some raw feelings in our country. But using your segment on MNF is not the place nor time. It was as inappropriate then as it is today.

He should have been sacked (fired, canned, terminated, ...) immediately and told to apply for work at the NYTimes.

Don´t care about the super bowl. Won´t be watching. As to the olympics, when they started to promote the sobbing stories of the competitors and show only the events won by the US, we quit watching and won´t be back. Show the events no matter who wins and shut up.

Many years ago I thought Costas did a pretty good job. Then one day (maybe it was the incident that #2 refers to) he went off on some left-wing political rant.
I have not watched or listened to him since.
It does not matter what he is covering. My memory of that rant has permanently ´marked´ him as someone who prompts me to change the channel - to something else- or turn off the TV completely.

On December 29, 2016, the Obama Administration – with three weeks remaining in its term – issued harsh sanctions against Russia over supposed election interference. Two compounds in the United States were closed and 35 Russian diplomats were ordered to leave the country. Russia responded by calling the actions “Cold War déjà vu.” In the two years that have elapsed since, it has been learned that the “intelligence” that formed the basis for the sanctions was beyond dubious. A single unverified “dossier” compiled by an ex-British spy with no discernable connections to Russia was shopped to FISA judges and the media as

Israel never should have left Gaza the way that Ariel Sharon abruptly and foolishly did. He was too full of himself — in more ways than one — and became persuaded by hubris that he alone had the vision. Certainly no one in Israel seriously wanted Gaza, but Ehud Barak already had shown how myopic it would be to walk away unilaterally from a border region when he handed Southern Lebanon effectively to Hezbollah. So, to prove Einstein’s meme about insanity, Sharon did the exact same idiotic thing, and he left Israel with a royal mess on both sides. It was called “Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI counterintelligence operation that targeted Trump figures as part of the investigation into possible campaign ties to Russia. It was a poignant choice of a Rolling Stones song, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” that describes a man “born in a crossfire hurricane” who “howled at the morning driving rain.” It could be an apt description of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. After a year of media denials of his claims of surveillance targeting his campaign, Trump can legitimately claim some vindication. Indeed, with his rising poll numbers, the president must feel, in the words of the

The American media gave sympathetic coverage this past week to the terrorist group Hamas, the gang bangers of MS-13 and a porn star – while continuing relentless attacks on the president of the United States. And you thought “journalism” couldn’t get any worse. The week began with another signature achievement for President Trump – the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. Relocating the embassy from Tel Avis was a promise that dated back to the 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton. Clinton went on to ignore the promise, as did both Presidents George W. So far as anyone beyond his circle of thousand-dollar-an-hour lawyers know, Mr. Mueller has not come up with anything more than a few indictments of second- and third-tier aides, helpers, hangers-on, and lawyers that a nice girl would not take home to meet the folks. The move of the United States embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and the American withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal have been the subjects of an immense volume of nonsensical comment and hand-wringing. The idea that it is anyone’s business apart from Israel and the United States where the embassy is located within uncontested Israeli territory is based on the theory that there is some question over whether Israel is going to retain even the section of Jerusalem that it held prior to the 1967 Six Day War, launched and lost by the Arab powers, and the end of which has been formalized between Israel and both Egypt and Jordan.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a directive to immigration judges Thursday telling them they can no longer shunt deportation cases off onto permanent wait lists and leave illegal immigrants free to roam the U.S. Known as administrative closure, the wait list had become a favorite tactic of the Obama administration, serving to protect low-priority illegal immigrants from deportation. Rather than pursue those cases, government attorneys would propose — and judges would grant — administrative closure by shipping more than 200,000 cases to the suspension list in what analysts said became a de facto amnesty.

Deep in the New York Times’s account of “Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI’s codename for spying on the Trump campaign, is a hilariously bland paragraph about John Brennan and James Comey teaming up to dig dirt on Trumpworld. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
