CFPB director a new hero on the right
American Thinker, by Rick Moran

Original Article

The acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), former congressman Mick Mulvaney, has submitted a budget request that may be a first in the history of government. The CFPB is an independent agency that recieves its funding from the Federal Reserve. The director must submit a budget request to the Fed every quarter. The most recent budget request came from former director Richard Cordray, an Obama appointee. Cordray asked the Fed for $217 million. But Mulvaney shocked official Washington by making a budget request for zero dollars. That´s $0.00 in taxpayer funds.

FTA: "There is an old bureaucratic trick in Washington that, at the end of the fiscal year, bureaucratic managers scramble to find ways to allocate money that has been appropriated but not spent. The reason is simple. If Congress found out they had money left over at the end of the fiscal year, they might cut their budgets."

To be fair, I heard this of the federal government while working within most agencies in DC during the Watergate Era. Surprisingly, upon moving out of that cesspool then back to California, I heard the exact same thing from my managers when the fiscal calendar year was ending. That is, suggest any parts needed so "all" money allocated to district (for test equipment) previously would be spent in time for new budget.

Basically, I was always appalled by this yearly subterfuge that didn´t fool anyone, mainly since most did it anyway. However, it is one of our truly inefficient ways at commerce and effects the supply chain everywhere. Hat tip to Mick Mulvaney. I did a similar thing at an annual JC fundraiser in Santa Barbara and drew the ire of many because most were use to spending the "cash" coming in before doing the final books.

Hah! This is fantastic. Zero budget request.

THAT will really improve things at CFPB. Lay everybody off, shut it down.

One of the problems when Dems create an unaccountable agency where they can do anything they want, independent of Congress - if a real conservative gets in charge, he can also do anything he wants, including shut it down.

Perfect.

Saul Alinsky´s Rules for Radicals is considered a bible to the left, a how-to guide for community organizing and activism. Barack Obama was an Alinsky protégé before, during, and after his presidency. Obama used the rules to his advantage, advancing his left-wing agenda. The left, despite conventional wisdom, has no monopoly on Alinsky´s rules. Instead these rules can be used by the right, also as blueprint for effecting change. The dirty little secret is that Alinsky has little in common with modern leftists. As Ralph Benko writes, "Alinsky was an aggressively anti-communist, anti-big government, populist with a healthy

On Friday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh received a call he will not soon forget, nor will his listeners. A man named Jerome, calling from Traverse City, Michigan, got on the line to fulfill one of his dreams: to tell Mr. Limbaugh that he saved his life while Jerome was in prison serving out an eight-year-sentence. In the epic call, the 26-year-old described the chance circumstances of him stumbling upon Limbaugh´s program, which exposed harmful liberal fallacies, and spit out a slew of facts offhand to rip the empty Hope-and-Change he was promised with former President Barack Obama. Democrats Could Face Midterm

Democrats had been counting on victories in at least half a dozen California congressional districts to bring them closer to the 24 needed to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Republicans only hold 14 seats in the Golden State, and Hillary Clinton won many of those districts in the 2016 election. But a combination of factors — including an excess of Democratic contenders, and a surge in Republican enthusiasm — could thwart those plans. California has a unique primary system called the “top two” or “jungle” primary, under which every voter can vote for any candidates, and the top two vote-winners advance

Pompeo will outline the plan in a Monday speech intended to rally European allies around the idea of using sanctions to force Iran into new negotiations over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. But that “new security architecture” will be built with an eye toward defending against the regime’s involvement in two civil wars and support for terrorism. “Our broad approach now that we’ve been emphasizing is that we

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
