Apple CEO Tim Cook opened up to ABC News after the company announced earlier today that it will be investing $350 billion in the U.S. economy over the next five years, creating more than 20,000 jobs. In a news release, the company also said it would make a $38 billion tax payment to the U.S. as required by recent changes to the tax law. Apple said this would be the largest tax payment of its kind. While Cook would not "take a position" on how the new tax plan is affecting individuals´ taxes, he said $38 billion tax payment would

It was pretty funny to watch Cook wiggling on the hook when asked if was effectively endorsed Trump´s tax cuts. Well the corporate cuts, sure. It was impossible to denounce something he was blatantly taking advantage of with obvious enormous benefits to the Country and his company. But the personal tax cuts, well ... Cook could not force himself to finish. He KNOWS those will be Yugely successful as well. He KNOWS their success is killing the Left.

Yet Cook cannot help himself from taking advantage of the tax cuts. That´s the secret of Capitalism, it dictates beneficial outcomes no matter what the intentions of the people controlling it are like.

To make and distribute products you MUST use capital, hire and pay people based on their productivity, distribute and sell your products, and pay your investors. It doesn´t matter if you are right or left, good or bad, you are locked into the overall requirements of capitalism and all sorts of people benefit from it. Lower taxes fuel business and that benefits us all, period.

I guess Tim Cook will have to just grimace and bear it.

Tim Cook is a POS. Apple slowed down older models with some lame excuse about saving battery life. The idea was extortion making people think they had to spend a ton of money to upgrade. Shameful. I have Western Electic hard wired phones that are 30 years old and work fine. Why are cell phones so expensive and worthless?

Chris Hughes, a co-founder of Facebook and chair of the Economic Security Project, has a proposal to attack the problem of rising income inequality through a basic income, a system of wealth distribution in which people receive a standard salary just for being alive. And he wants to pay for it by raising taxes on the one percent. (Snip) To pay for this, Hughes proposes bringing tax rates on the top 1% of earners in the country to 50% — which is in line with the historical average, he said. Russian bots aren´t pro-Republican or pro-Democrat: they´re simply anti-American. That´s the conclusion many are reaching in the wake of the indictments recently handed out by Special Counsel Robert Mueller against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities who allegedly enacted a sophisticated plot to wage “information warfare” against the United States. Marat Mindiyarov, a former commenter at the Internet Research Agency, says the organization´s Facebook department hired people with excellent English skills to sway U.S. public opinion through an elaborate social media campaign. His own experience at the agency makes him trust the U.S. indictment, Mindiyarov told The Associated Press.

The death of liberalism constitutes the publishing world’s biggest mass funeral since the death of God half a century ago. Some authors, like conservative philosopher Patrick Deneen, of Why Liberalism Failed, have come to bury yesterday’s dogma. Others, like Edward Luce (The Retreat of Western Liberalism), Mark Lilla (The Once and Future Liberal), and Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt (How Democracies Die) come rather to praise. I’m in the latter group; the title-in-my-head of the book I’m now writing is What Was Liberalism. But perhaps, like God, liberalism has been buried prematurely. Maybe the question that we should be asking

1. It´s getting late: The recovery from the Great Recession is already one of the longest economic expansions in American history. And recently the economic cycle has gone from humming along to booming. Unemployment is down to a 17-year low, small business sentiment is roaring, and economic growth hit the 3% mark twice last year. But economic expansions don´t last forever. A recession comes along eventually and ruins the party. Wall Street is already pondering the demise of this recovery, which in May would become the second-longest in history.
