McCain rips Trump for attacks on press
The Hill [Washington, DC], by Brett Samuels

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday condemned President Trump’s combative attitude toward the press and called on Congress to protect journalists worldwide. “Whether Trump knows it or not, these efforts are being closely watched by foreign leaders who are already using his words as cover as they silence and shutter one of the key pillars of democracy,” McCain said in an opinion piece published in The Washington Post. McCain called the Trump administration’s treatment of journalists “inconsistent at best and hypocritical at worst,” particularly when it comes to condemning attacks on the press abroad. McCain cited foreign leaders who have

Comments:
It´s not bad enough that on Saturday McCain went to the NYT and attacked Trump for his allegedly hateful comments regarding immigrants. Now he does this. It really is stunning for someone who has limited time on this earth to behave in such a ghastly, hateful manner. He is destroying any good will he may have had. It is especially galling since McCain is very familiar with how the media can turn on you and attempt to destroy you. Remember the accusations of him having an affair with a lobbyist during his run for president? The media loved that story.

Contd. He needs to just shut up. If he really was a man of honor, he would have resigned from congress and let someone take his place who could fully represent his constituents. Instead he spends his time writing  contemptible articles attacking our president.

He´s no hero. No hero behaves in such a manner. He´s exhibiting who he really is and it sure is ugly. You will not be missed Sen. McCain. If that sounds harsh, so be it.

First McCain, then Flake, on the same issue?

Really?

The press is not entitled to just say whatever they want to say, and not believe anyone will challenge them on their statements.
And, particularly if they are telling lies, or pure propaganda, they should be challenged.

I don´t believe Trump is the one putting out false comments and statements.

Of course the RINO Swamp creatures, who are always pleased as punch to go along to get along with the liberal Democrats don’t like that one bit. That’s why Flake, Graham, and McCain, along with others like them, have been flailing out at the President, so far to no avail.

My understanding is that McCain´s aircraft was struck by a missile that was launched by another airplane that was quite a ways from McCain´s airplane.
Just went and dug up video on Youtube.... the aircraft on the rear section of the flight deck each had their tails pointed out over the edge, away from other aircraft. One does NOT start a jet with another jet- or anything else- directly behind it. Jets are NOT cars! Jets are NOT Recip-propeller aircraft!
I think this ´wet-start´ story is a bunch of Bovine Scatology.

The issue is not Trump attacking the media. It is the media that is betraying its own professional ethics and standards and consequently losing the trust of the electorate by failing in its duty as the Fourth Estate and abusing the privileges granted to it to keep them fully, comprehensively and fairly informed in order to enable the electorate to exercise its civic duties and responsibilities in an intelligent ans effective manner. Once the media steps out of that constraint and becomes partisan, it loses all privileges and expectation of protection by the people and their representatives.

The Bolshevik Revolution turned 100 last October. As Friday’s indictment of Russia´s Internet Research Agency reminds us, it´s been 100 years of tyrannical and murderous Russian regimes working to subvert democracy wherever they can and distort American public opinion by any means they can devise. The specificity here is pretty damning. The FBI released a stunning admission today admitting they received prior a specific warning about Broward County Nikolas Cruz and his threats to carry out a school shooting. The FBI took no action. (Snip) The backdrop of this admission is especially troublesome as the FBI previously also admitted they were forewarned about the Tsarnaev brothers in the Boston Marathon Bombing 2013 and did nothing; and perhaps even more disturbing was the prior warning about the 2016 Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooter Omar Mateen. Federal deportation officers staged one of the biggest enforcement actions in years against businesses in Los Angeles this week, arresting 212 people and serving audit notices to 122 businesses who will have to prove they aren’t hiring illegal immigrants. Nearly all of those arrested were convicted criminals, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE said it targeted Los Angeles because it’s a sanctuary city, meaning it refuses to fully cooperate with federal authorities on deportations from within its jails. That means agents and officers have to go out into the community, said Thomas D. Homan, the agency’s deputy director.

The nation’s adoration of moderate former Democratic President John F. Kennedy continues, making him the most popular recent president, according to a new survey. A new University of Virginia Center for Politics-Reuters/Ipsos survey, released in advance of President´s Day, found on a 1 to 10 rating that Kennedy had the best, followed by Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. Special counsel Robert Mueller is not yet done investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election after indicting 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for seeking to interfere in the 2016 election, according to a report Friday. The probe is also seeking to determine if Trump obstructed justice, the person said. Mueller has not publicly confirmed that his team has ever looked into possible efforts obstruct justice.

The criminal indictment of 13 Russians for allegedly trying to influence “U.S. political and electoral processes” provides no evidence of any collusion between these Russians – or any other Russian officials – and the Trump campaign in the 2016 presidential race. While the description of alleged Russian activities is very troubling, it is important to note that the indictment makes no mention of any hacking or other activity that changed ballots, vote counts, or actually interfered with the election. In essence, the indictment is for trying to run the typical type of public misinformation campaign that the Soviet KGB was
