McCain rips Trump for attacks on press
The Hill [Washington, DC], by Brett Samuels

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday condemned President Trump’s combative attitude toward the press and called on Congress to protect journalists worldwide. “Whether Trump knows it or not, these efforts are being closely watched by foreign leaders who are already using his words as cover as they silence and shutter one of the key pillars of democracy,” McCain said in an opinion piece published in The Washington Post. McCain called the Trump administration’s treatment of journalists “inconsistent at best and hypocritical at worst,” particularly when it comes to condemning attacks on the press abroad. McCain cited foreign leaders who have

Comments:
It´s not bad enough that on Saturday McCain went to the NYT and attacked Trump for his allegedly hateful comments regarding immigrants. Now he does this. It really is stunning for someone who has limited time on this earth to behave in such a ghastly, hateful manner. He is destroying any good will he may have had. It is especially galling since McCain is very familiar with how the media can turn on you and attempt to destroy you. Remember the accusations of him having an affair with a lobbyist during his run for president? The media loved that story.

Contd. He needs to just shut up. If he really was a man of honor, he would have resigned from congress and let someone take his place who could fully represent his constituents. Instead he spends his time writing  contemptible articles attacking our president.

He´s no hero. No hero behaves in such a manner. He´s exhibiting who he really is and it sure is ugly. You will not be missed Sen. McCain. If that sounds harsh, so be it.

First McCain, then Flake, on the same issue?

Really?

The press is not entitled to just say whatever they want to say, and not believe anyone will challenge them on their statements.
And, particularly if they are telling lies, or pure propaganda, they should be challenged.

I don´t believe Trump is the one putting out false comments and statements.

I´ve reached the point where I just want him to go away...anywhere...and do it now. He sinks more deeply into shaming himself every time he opens his mouth and seems to think he´s entitled to a platform to spew his filth and that we´ll all applaud because, after all, he´s a "hero." He´s played that card to a point where I can´t think of one reason he should spend one more day in the US Senate. Go away, McPain. Please. And do it now.

Well this is all part of the fact the the American people elected Donald Trump as President with his MAGA political agenda to stomp the DC Uniparty RINO Swamp creatures like Flake, Graham, and McCain into the dust.

Of course the RINO Swamp creatures, who are always pleased as punch to go along to get along with the liberal Democrats don’t like that one bit. That’s why Flake, Graham, and McCain, along with others like them, have been flailing out at the President, so far to no avail.

My understanding is that McCain´s aircraft was struck by a missile that was launched by another airplane that was quite a ways from McCain´s airplane.
Just went and dug up video on Youtube.... the aircraft on the rear section of the flight deck each had their tails pointed out over the edge, away from other aircraft. One does NOT start a jet with another jet- or anything else- directly behind it. Jets are NOT cars! Jets are NOT Recip-propeller aircraft!
I think this ´wet-start´ story is a bunch of Bovine Scatology.

I don´t like McCain the Senator (John- it´s time to RETIRE!) but I will PROUDLY defend McCain the Navy pilot.

The issue is not Trump attacking the media. It is the media that is betraying its own professional ethics and standards and consequently losing the trust of the electorate by failing in its duty as the Fourth Estate and abusing the privileges granted to it to keep them fully, comprehensively and fairly informed in order to enable the electorate to exercise its civic duties and responsibilities in an intelligent ans effective manner. Once the media steps out of that constraint and becomes partisan, it loses all privileges and expectation of protection by the people and their representatives.

Keith Olbermann is expanding his role at ESPN — but it was nearly even bigger. The largest aspect of Olbermann’s expanded role with ESPN is that he will co-host around 20 “SportsCenter” 11 p.m. shows. Olbermann’s rise to national prominence came when he and his partner, Dan Patrick, hosted the program they dubbed “The Big Show.” Sources said ESPN considered offering Olbermann the full-time 6 p.m. “SportsCenter” show, but ultimately decided against it for a variety of reasons, including logistics, as the show will continue in Bristol and Olbermann lives in New York. The 6 p.m. show ultimately went to

Is it unthinkable that the Federal Bureau of Investigation would spy on a presidential campaign for political purposes? I can personally attest that it has happened before—during Barry Goldwater’s 1964 campaign. Every poll agreed that President Lyndon B. Johnson would easily win the election against the conservative Sen. Goldwater of Arizona. But LBJ wanted a landslide so he could implement his Great Society vision without resistance and go down in history as one of America’s greatest presidents. (Snip) Thus was born Johnson’s “Anti-Campaign” to smear Goldwater’s candidacy. The operation was run from the second floor of the West Wing by

Until 1968, Walter Cronkite believed what his government told him about the Vietnam War. He was an old-school journalist, a patriot, a man who came of age covering World War II as a wire-service reporter and then taking over as the anchor of “The CBS Evening News” at the height of the Cold War. Like most journalists of his generation, he embraced the fight against communism and understood why the United States had intervened in the war raging in Vietnam. Teams will be fined for any personnel that "do not show proper respect for the flag and Anthem” on the sidelines. Other journalists were hearing similar things from players they talked to.
