This is CNN . . . in 1945
American Greatness, by Victor Davis Hanson

What if something like CNN and modern communications were around in early 1945? What if the rules of presidential news coverage were then as they are now? And what if such a mythical CNN hated Franklin Delano Roosevelt as much as it despises Donald Trump, then as right-wing as it is now hard left? How would the daily news in a mythical 1945 treat a now-iconic FDR? What would the country have thought of its president? In the manner that we’ve learned that Donald Trump supposedly eats double servings of fast food and gulps down a dozen diet sodas a day,

The champions of "Fairness", "Equality" and "Tolerance" are, in fact, hateful bigots and Marxist idealogs. VDH has, IMHO, come further and further to the Right over the last few years. This article elaborates on an issue that has been clear to Conservatives since the days of Walter Chronkite, Huntley & Brinkley and 95% of everyone else in the News Biz.

However.....news has always been partisan. A century ago one would buy a printing press and promote one´s POV. We dare not call for "Fairness" (like the pencil-neck Socialists would) but rather we must re-double our efforts to open more and better and bigger outlets for the truth.

Sux that Google/Twitter/Facebook are all Left...all the time.

Taking back the colleges must also happen.

All you need to know about the Left and how they treat opponents can be found reading old newsprint accounts about Abe Lincoln.

Or go back to Jefferson; the first candidate that we know hired opposition research. The guy may be the origin of the story of the affair of Jefferson with a slave girl on his estate - started when Jefferson objected to the ´gentleman´s´ bill for services rendered.

I´d pay to see a book of the CNN treatment on all the Democrat Presidents back to and including Wilson. A common thread would be ´the candidate welcomed the party´s special speaker, the Grand Kleggle of the KKK...´

VDH forgot to add:

"President Roosevelt is most likely a horrible racist. We are informed by numerous close associates that he has hated Asian peoples since before he became President. This year he placed all his Executive power behind denying Japanese-Americans their Constitutional rights, seized their possessions, and imprisoned them against their will and without charge in military internment camps. Never before has an American President acted with such hostility against specific ethnic minority group."

It was the press who covered for the loathesome FDR throught his reign. It was the press who blamed Hoover for everything. And did likewise for the even viler and more despicable Woodrow Wilson, the the lasting damage to the nation. Before that, it was the press that agitated until we had the Spanish-American War, again to our lasting damage.
It is by no means a new thing. At least in the time of Mark Twain, there were normally at least two newspapers in a city, with opposite views. Now, with the de facto monopolies of the AP, Gannett, the major networks, the Slimes, and the disappearance of competing papers, there is a definite echo chamber.

Former vice president Joe Biden is back in the news yet again. For a second time, he seems surprised that poor residents of the inner city are capable of doing sophisticated jobs: We don’t think ordinary people can do things like program, code. It’s not rocket science, guys. So, we went and we hired some folks to go into the neighborhoods and pick 58 women, as it turns out, from the hood, for a 17-week program, if my memory serves me correctly, to learn how to code. In 2014 Biden had said about the same thing about women from the “hood”: They asked

MINNEAPOLIS - For five months, Fox 9 has been investigating what appears to be rampant fraud in a massive state program. This fraud is suspected of costing Minnesota taxpayers as much as $100 million a year. The Fox 9 Investigators reporting is based on public records and nearly a dozen government sources who have direct knowledge of what is happening. These sources have a deep fear, and there is evidence to support their concerns, that some of that public money is ending up in the hands of terrorists. This story begins at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where mysterious suitcases

As I will explain, the widespread notion that Russia and Trump colluded to beat Hillary has long been demonstrable bunk. What seems more clear each day is that there was collusion between certain members of the U.S. and British intelligence communities to spy on the Trump campaign. This may explain, in large part, the reluctance of the Department of Justice to reveal what it knows publicly. After all -- with rare exceptions -- the two countries’ intelligence services have long had important information gathering and sharing agreements, and exposure of this may harm the traditional reciprocal relationship. Whether the British

W. H. Auden, perhaps the 20th century’s preeminent English-language poet, lionized Phyllis McGinley and wrote the introduction to her Pulitzer Prize–winning poetry collection Times Three in 1960. (Snip) No, what consigned McGinley to the dustbin of literary history was her politics. And in the un-personing of McGinley, we can get a glimpse of the Left’s simultaneous ruthlessness and cultural hegemony. Simply put, McGinley’s thought crime was that she was a happy, Christian, suburban mother and housewife who extolled both her life in the suburbs and traditional roles for women. For the Left, her failure to be miserable and

Trump’s Iran Deal Decision Was a Masterstroke

Opponents of President Donald Trump claim that President Donald Trump’s decision to leave the Iran deal blocks any chance of a new agreement with Tehran and wrecks U.S. credibility with its allies. Trump’s supporters, for their part, argue that the president opened up the possibility of negotiating a better deal with the ayatollahs by abandoning his predecessor’s lopsided nuclear pact. Both sides are wrong. And, more to the point, they miss the larger picture. For more than twenty years, successive U.S. administrations have been vexed by the challenge of Iran’s illicit pursuit of nuclear weapons. And from the time the problem first

The fate of Obama´s JCPOA Iran deal was clear when Donald J. Trump became America´s 45th president. The new commander-in-chief? inherently knew that President Obama´s so-called "legacy "deal actually facilitated our enemies in Tehran, as it released more than $140 billion to the mullahs, had no effect on Iranian ballistic missile capability, created a risible inspection regime, and included a sunset clause which meant that nuclear weapons acquisition by Iran was simply delayed, not in fact prevented. And after Prime Minister Netanyahu gave his commanding performance on Iran´s secret AMAD Program that had

We have lost our culture to the Cultural Marxists and, increasingly, our liberty to the Rogue Ruling Class™. It is easy to despair. But, in the late 1970s, it was also hard to believe we could defeat Soviet Communism. Then three courageous people—Pope John Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, and Ronald Reagan—changed the world. Reflecting on that, Robert Reilly describes what we must do today to win our war: Language, then, and the restoration of its relationship with reality were critical to the Communist collapse. This was no small feat since, for many in the West, words had lost their meaning. A recovery

The same day Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that Israel seized Iran’s archive of its military nuclear program in Tehran and spirited it to Israel, a video was posted of IDF soldiers singing Soltane Ghalbha, a traditional Persian love song – in Persian. Taken together, the two events demonstrate the purpose of Netanyahu’s presentation. Netanyahu’s detractors in the US and Israel called his presentation as a dog and pony show. “He didn’t tell us anything we haven’t known for years,” they sniffed. There have been exciting developments in the "Russia investigation". There always are, because that is the nature of open-ended money-no-object investigations. But, to me, the most interesting development was the testimony of Michael Caputo, who appeared just before me on Tucker Carlson´s show last night. Mr Caputo was, briefly, a very minor Trump campaign aide - and so his life has been destroyed. But his story didn’t begin at the Supreme Court. It never does. As the highest appellate court, the Supreme Court reviews the facts and issues of law at the trial level. Usually, this means that a judge previously made some ruling, perhaps in the context of a jury trial or preliminary issues that come before the court. But Phillips’ case didn’t start out that way.
