This is CNN . . . in 1945
American Greatness, by Victor Davis Hanson

Original Article

What if something like CNN and modern communications were around in early 1945? What if the rules of presidential news coverage were then as they are now? And what if such a mythical CNN hated Franklin Delano Roosevelt as much as it despises Donald Trump, then as right-wing as it is now hard left? How would the daily news in a mythical 1945 treat a now-iconic FDR? What would the country have thought of its president? In the manner that we’ve learned that Donald Trump supposedly eats double servings of fast food and gulps down a dozen diet sodas a day,

The champions of "Fairness", "Equality" and "Tolerance" are, in fact, hateful bigots and Marxist idealogs. VDH has, IMHO, come further and further to the Right over the last few years. This article elaborates on an issue that has been clear to Conservatives since the days of Walter Chronkite, Huntley & Brinkley and 95% of everyone else in the News Biz.

However.....news has always been partisan. A century ago one would buy a printing press and promote one´s POV. We dare not call for "Fairness" (like the pencil-neck Socialists would) but rather we must re-double our efforts to open more and better and bigger outlets for the truth.

Sux that Google/Twitter/Facebook are all Left...all the time.

Taking back the colleges must also happen.

All you need to know about the Left and how they treat opponents can be found reading old newsprint accounts about Abe Lincoln.

Or go back to Jefferson; the first candidate that we know hired opposition research. The guy may be the origin of the story of the affair of Jefferson with a slave girl on his estate - started when Jefferson objected to the ´gentleman´s´ bill for services rendered.

I´d pay to see a book of the CNN treatment on all the Democrat Presidents back to and including Wilson. A common thread would be ´the candidate welcomed the party´s special speaker, the Grand Kleggle of the KKK...´

VDH forgot to add:

"President Roosevelt is most likely a horrible racist. We are informed by numerous close associates that he has hated Asian peoples since before he became President. This year he placed all his Executive power behind denying Japanese-Americans their Constitutional rights, seized their possessions, and imprisoned them against their will and without charge in military internment camps. Never before has an American President acted with such hostility against specific ethnic minority group."

It was the press who covered for the loathesome FDR throught his reign. It was the press who blamed Hoover for everything. And did likewise for the even viler and more despicable Woodrow Wilson, the the lasting damage to the nation. Before that, it was the press that agitated until we had the Spanish-American War, again to our lasting damage.
It is by no means a new thing. At least in the time of Mark Twain, there were normally at least two newspapers in a city, with opposite views. Now, with the de facto monopolies of the AP, Gannett, the major networks, the Slimes, and the disappearance of competing papers, there is a definite echo chamber.

As an environmental activist who was deplatformed from a speaking venue by transactivists, in 2013 I developed curiosity about the power of this group to force this development. A year later, when Time magazine announced a transgender tipping point on its cover, I had already begun to examine the money behind the transgender project. I have watched as all-women’s safe spaces, universities, and sports opened their doors to any man who chose to identify as a woman. Whereas men who identify as transwomen are at the forefront of this project, women who identify as transmen seem silent and invisible. I

Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard K. Jones offered free concealed carry training for 50 teachers and 250 teachers responded within 24 hours. Breitbart News reported that Jones began advertising the free training on Sunday and the immediate response was 50 emails within 20 minutes: On February 20 Fox 91 reported the response had jumped to 250 teachers who wanted training. Jones reveled in the opportunity to instruct them, saying, “We have 250 and growing fast. We will start training fast, next week.” He stressed that he wants teachers to understand what they can do with a gun if an armed attacker enters the

I’ve been looking at the insanity of the Democrats and self-styled progressives (there is so much of it on display) from the signs in front yards proclaiming they believe in science – as though science necessitated belief – to the signs in expensive neighborhoods proclaiming that they welcome illegals as their neighbors. (Snip) I’ve heard women proclaim they’re marching for lost rights, though no one can answer me on what rights they lost. Oh, yeah, I’ve also been informed, loudly, in public spaces, that liberals are afraid to speak their mind and that the awful dictator, Trump, has chilled their speech.

The Portraits and the

Federal portraits often aren´t that great. There´s plenty of evidence of that all around Washington D.C. And famous people are surprisingly hard to paint. There are plenty of strikingly different portraits of George Washington. So the normal response to the Obama portraits would be a shrug, and maybe a few jokes if you don´t like them. And maybe even if you do. But the Obamas are the center of the most delusional cult of personality that the media has yet spawned. And so we get bizarre pieces like these. Free-marketers are right that tax cuts stimulate economic growth that in turn lead to expanding production and eventually more federal tax revenue. But the problem traditionally has been that to obtain tax reductions, Republicans also have had to sign on reluctantly to larger expenditures. Or, worse, they willingly believed they could spend more, simply because more money poured into the federal treasuries. George W. Bush doubled the national debt. After running against Bush profligacy (remember the Chinese credit card trope), Barack Obama doubled it again by doubling Bush’s levels of borrowing. Conservatives blasted Obama for his even greater lack of thrift. The

The miscreants reportedly involved in the illegal surveillance of the Trump campaign were fleeing the FBI; parties in the intelligence agencies were contradicting one another with sloppily conceived alibis. On top of that, the agencies involved looked both more stupid and more partisan than ever. Whereas the questions it raises about state corruption in an age of round-the-clock technological surveillance are far more profound. Let´s start with something I wrote back in October: It seems a reasonable inference, to put it as blandly as possible, that the [Christopher Steele] dossier was used to justify the opening of what the Feds call an "FI" (Full Investigation), which in turn was used

In The Meaning of Conservatism and several other books, the English philosopher Roger Scruton argues for the importance of the first-person plural—the “We” that binds us together as a community, a people, a nation. Tuesday night, in his magnificent State of the Union Address, Donald Trump did something similar. Trump’s speech was full of memorable lines: the “new American moment,” “Americans are Dreamers, too,” “complacency and concessions only invite aggression and provocation.” But perhaps the most memorable line, playing off the president’s campaign slogan, came at the end: “It is the people who are making America great again.” Any dispassionate observer has
