The Hawaii worker who ´pressed the

The worker who sent a false missile alert to Hawaiian residents on Saturday has reportedly been reassigned. The civil defence employee has been moved to another role, but not fired, according to multiple media reports. In a press conference on Saturday, the head of Hawaii´s Emergency Management Agency, Vern Miyagi, said the worker "feels terrible." "This guy feels bad, right. He´s not doing this on purpose — it was a mistake on his part and he feels terrible about it," Miyagi said. The worker had been completing a shift change at the time of the alert and, according to the Washington Post, was using

Un.be.lievable!! That is absolutely astounding. Of course no one ever mentions that Hawaii is run by DEMOCRATS and yet somehow Trump was blamed for what was a state problem. You know if this was a Republican run state the person who did it would be named in headlines for weeks. From the brief clips I saw of the governor he was the typical idiot, incompetent Democrat.

When my little computer sees that I am selecting something that might have a potentially disastrous or dramatic result a window pops up that says, "This action will delete all information on this XXX. are you sure you want to do this?" and then I get a "Yes" and a "Cancel" option button.

Simple. this little protective device, as irritating as it is, has saved me many times from stupid mistakes. I have to wonder why some program as important and potentially devastating to the public as the "Civil Defense alert System" was not programmed with these little devices. Could it be the contract to write that program was handed off to some political; hackster who really did not know what he/she was doing but was willing to share 30% of his/her bloated contract with some Democratic Party donations? Sound familiar? At all? (Obama, Democrats, Pelosi, Reid, ACA cough, cough)

I´m still having a hard time believing that this was not done intentionally. It reminds me of the guy at Twitter who hit the button to shut down Trump´s Twitter account. Was he thinking, "What a hoot! Let everyone know what Trump is risking for us."?! It´s not beyond belief.

Does this trend not refute the Ascent of Man Thesis? Our standard of justice continues to DE-volve. Having just arrived at a consensus,"only violations that include violence require accountability", our handlers have already move on to the next level. We are moving right on to standard of volition. One must mean to have erred for it to be counted against them.

At this rate, humanoid types could have only survived a couple of centuries. No way they would have lasted multi-millennia.

I do not blame this guy. I blame the reportedly stupid UI with which this guy had to contend. There is a reason for the military to use toggle switch safety covers, etc. on all "critical outcome" user interface objects. The software could have easily been designed with a equivalent "safety". Please investigate those stooges responsible for the system.

Whenever Napoleon wanted to send a clear message to his generals, he first ran it by a corporal to make sure it really was clear and wouldn´t be misunderstood by the generals. If Hawaii comes up with a functioning, two-person, secure, missile alert system incorporating Strategic Command protocols and responsive to NORAD launch warnings, then perhaps this hapless state employee with the unguided finger will have served the purpose of Napoleon´s corporal.

"Hawaii worker who pressed wrong button has been reassigned".

What does a guy have to do to get fired around here?

This reminds me that old Seinfeld episode when George Costanza was working for the Yankees and the NY Mets were interested in hiring him as a talent scout. He did everything he could to get fired by the Yankees and just ended up getting promoted.

However, if the island natives believe the threat is real the experience should be a lesson in how people react and educate proper procedure where necessary. In other words, this should be treated as an unplanned drill and learn from it.

Yeah, I´m with a few others here that don´t believe this was an accident. As we have seen in the last year, the leftists have become so unhinged, I wouldn´t put it past one (or more) of them to deliberately push that button in the hopes that President Trump would retaliate in defense and send a missile towards North Korea. And all hell would break loose and they would have a reason to remove him from office.

Let´s be realistic. There is no row of buttons saying "Tsunami:Earthquake:Typhoon:Missile Attack".

I´m guessing the interface has an information window, where the guy thought it was funny to type "Missile Attack...", not realizing that anything entered here would get texted out like an Amber Alert. He´s incompetent, and it shows. It took 40 minutes to respond because he didn´t realize that the texts were sent, and was probably ignoring his boss´s calls because "I DID the damn test".

I do NOT care how he "feels". What I do care is where are the training records? where is the log of just who is properly trained and for how long have they done this job.
Just what would have happened if the pilots had scrambled and gotten in the air before the alert was called off.
I´m reminded of the final scene in Dr. Strangelove.
3 things went on here:
1. intentional to see response time.
2. set up to blame POTUS for the problem
3. pure idiocy on the part of ALL in charge
Possible fourth , a combination of all of the above.

While I don´t know how Hawaii has their EAS/PAWS set up I´m quite familiar with how the system works and how several states implement it.

As I mentioned before a local station can trigger a local alert - it takes a specific sequence of of button pushes deliberately designed to prevent a accidental broadcast.

from what I understand this was a full EAS/PAWS event meaning someone had to create the text, record the voice over and setup the trigger to cell phones, signs and broadcast - there is no way this was accidental.

Washington Post, by Robert Costa*    Original Article

In mid-July 2016, a retired American professor approached an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign at a symposium about the White House race held at a British university. The professor took the opportunity to strike up a conversation with Carter Page, whom Trump had named a few months earlier as a foreign policy adviser. But the professor was more than an academic interested in American politics — he was a longtime U.S. intelligence source. And, at some point in 2016, he began working as a secret informant for the FBI as it investigated Russia’s interference in the campaign, according to people familiar

A family-of-five say they have never been happier after selling their five-bedroom house and everything in it - in order to move into a 180sq ft trailer. Renovator Dino Petrone, 36, blogger Ashley, 32 and sons Gabe, 8, Gavin, 7 and daughter Quinn, 4, from Ventura County, had what many would consider an ´ordinary´ life in California. However when the family stumbled across a piece of land they described as ´perfect´, they decided to downsize in order to make it their own, swapping their family home for the $8,000 (£5,900) trailer, which they´ve turned into a luxurious abode to rival

Starbucks´ day of racial-bias training for its baristas can´t come soon enough. With less than two weeks to go before the coffee chain closes stores nationwide to educate its nearly 175,000 workers on how not to discriminate against others, Starbucks (SBUX) this week found itself apologizing for doing just that. (Tweet) The apology on social media came after a customer at a Starbucks in La Cañada Flintridge, California, found the word "Beaner" -- a derogatory term for Mexicans -- printed on his coffee drink instead of "Pedro," his name. A friend of Pedro's who translated for him told CBS Los Angeles that his "friend was also sad"

But, in the last couple of weeks, they’ve decided to defend Iran, Hamas, and now – the icing on the cake – MS-13. If you’re unfamiliar with MS-13, and I pray to God you are, they’re a violent gang made up mostly of Salvadorans whose motto is “Murder, Rape, and Control.” They are, unarguably, one of the most violent gangs on the face of the earth, and the horror stories shared by their victims’

WASHINGTON — A West Wing aide´s morbid remark about gravely ill Sen. John McCain has not yielded widespread White House soul searching. Instead it has produced a push to fire those responsible for leaking that story and others that have bedeviled President Donald Trump´s administration. Nearly a week after Kelly Sadler dismissed McCain´s opinion on Trump´s CIA nominee during a closed-door meeting by saying "he´s dying anyway," a torrent of criticism has rained down upon the White House. The administration has repeatedly declined to publicly apologize, but the fallout has shaken the West Wing, where the focus remains on who leaked
