New York - A new trend is sweeping social media - and it has the potential to be deadly. Called the “Tide Pod Challenge,” the new viral trend sees teens filming themselves while they attempt to eat Tide laundry detergent pods, before challenging others to do the same - and the videos are horrifying and dangerous. According to reports, the challenge was originally featured as a joke in The Onion, a satirical news organisation. But the challenge soon became real after circulating on social media - with multiple videos uploaded (Snip) Biting down, the pod oozes detergent, and the YouTuber immediately attempts to spit it out.

Comments:
What ever happened to licking the back of that toad from Central America to get the hallucination effect? Someone must have told them that their sweat from this would clean their "jeans" without removing them... Yeah. that sounded stupid, too.

I don´t know if it is the cradle to grave ´compassion´ democrats have forced working Americans to pay for the last 80 years, but there are definitely more morons running around. Of course when you have open borders for the world´s failures and simple numbers mean there are more stupid people than ever.

After the dimmer among us vote for more handouts, they are easy dupes for a media that will literally do ANYTHING for attention. A great lesson for our entire country would be the simple requirement of doing work before receiving any kind of handout from the government.

BTW does anyone think the media will hound The Onion for their responsibility in this, IF it is true.

U.S. regulators on Thursday killed the politically sensitive sale of the Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) to a group led by China-based investors, saying a lack of information on the would-be buyers threatened the ability to properly monitor the exchange after the deal. In a motion filed in New York federal court, the CIA claimed that limited disclosures to reporters do not waive national security exemptions to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies frequently deny records requests on the basis of protecting sensitive national security information, one of nine exemptions written into the federal FOIA law.
