Hawaii sends terrifying ‘false
alarm’ about ballistic missile

New York Post, by Kathianne Boniello

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 1/13/2018 1:46:25 PM

A fake alert of an incoming ballistic missile hit cell phones across Hawaii on Saturday. Multiple people began tweeting about an emergency alert they received on their cellphones around 1:15 pm Eastern time. “Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill,” the alert read. “Did anyone else’s iPhone just tell them there’s a ballistic missile headed for Hawaii and to take cover immediately?” Twitter user @easytga wrote. Congresswoman Tusli Gabbard quickly tweeted to debunk the alert. (Tweets).

Comments:
0bama´s alleged place of birth not only has "fake" activist appeal judges (travel ban), they are now sending out "fake missile alarm" (from north Korea?) to their population. What´s next? Trump to require them to build a wall around each island to keep illegals out? S/O. Oh, and then some politico expects islanders to get her tweet saying it was fake?

A friend of mine was traumatized by this because her son lives in Hawaii and actually called her to say good-bye. Very scary. But then she blamed the whole thing on Trump. That kind of wrecked my sympathy for her.

Wonder if the "mistake" wasn´t caused by some slacker relative of a political leader?

Summer, 1960. RAF Sculthorpe, England.
I was gassing up my 1940 Austin 4 door convertible, and the red alert siren went off- we were under attack, - bombers on the way. It was a mistake.
Two years later, I talked with a crew member
from one of our old bombers, and he said they got the same error alert. They were carrying nukes. And they, for a brief time, were turning towards their assigned targets in the Soviet Union.

Today, astronomers know the age and size of the universe with greater certainty and precision than they did 28 years ago, thanks to 28 years of working with the Hubble Space Telescope. "When I was a grad student 30 years ago, we were arguing about the size and scale of the universe," NASA scientist Jeff Hayes told UPI. Hayes has said those arguments featured estimates differing by a factor of two. "Today, thanks to Hubbles´ observations, we are down to a couple of percent," he said. Hubble was designed to measure the size and age of the universe, as well as the rate of its expansion, and it succeeded in doing just that.

But Kelly’s introduction to NBC, premiering at the 9 a.m. hour in September, was met with almost immediate controversy — a feud with Jane Fonda that the morning show host dragged out for months — and she never drew the viewership that the network was looking for.
