NEW YORK Newark Airport has been evacuated following a fiery explosion underneath a terminal building. Shocking images show a column of flames shooting up from a roadway at the international airport terminal amid the blast. Sections of Newark Liberty International Airport were evacuated and closed off to the public after reports smoke filled parts of Terminal C amid the blast. The blast was caused when an electrical transformer had caught fire underneath the airport building. No one was injured in the blaze, which occurred around 11.00 local time (16.00 GMT). Flames sprung up from inside a manhole operated by electric company PSE&G, based in

Not to detract from the seriousness of the incident, but the last time I was at Newark Liberty it was still in New Jersey. Did this change?

President Donald Trump sat side-by-side with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki Monday, declaring ´great opportunities´ between the two nations at a time of extreme tension between the nuclear powers. ´It´s great to be with you,´ Trump told Putin at the start of a planned 90-minute meeting. The greeting came just days after the Justice Department announced the indictments of a dozen Russian spies accused of hacking the presidential election. ´Frankly we have not been getting along very well for the latest couple of years,´ Trump said. ´It´s getting close to two years,´ Trump said. He said he and Putin would discuss trade,

British firms trading with Iran could be slapped with punitive sanctions within weeks after Donald Trump rebuffed their pleas for exemptions. The US President pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal - which eased sanctions on Tehran in return for a stop to their nuclear programme - earlier this year. The EU had lobbied the White House to exempt European companies from the hefty levies, which are set to be put on firms trading in the Middle East country. But American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US rejected the appeal because it wants to exert the maximum pressure possible on Iran. Britain

During the deadliest shooting in modern American history, first responders inside and in the vicinity of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas faced a slew of radio communication issues. Metropolitan Police officers were unable to communicate directly with EMS, with their only line of communication being a peripheral police radio channel, all while dispatchers were fielding a surge of reports. Inside the hotel hallways, ´thick walls´ of the hotel caused radio service to cut in-and-out, and it was very difficult for officers to communicate with the main command post located within the hotel. President Donald Trump is blasting the ´fake news´ for not reporting the success out of his North Korea summit as he heads to Helsinki to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The president complained there hasn´t been positive media coverage of the lack of missiles or rockets fired in nine months from the rogue state as concerns have emerged about what concessions he might give to Moscow at Monday´s meeting and how there appears to be no clear agenda for his sit down with Putin. But Trump didn´t acknowledge the questions he faces as he flies east across Europe and, instead, touted the success from his June summit

Watching FBI agent Peter Strzok battle with Congress, my initial reaction was pure anger. His repeated, arrogant insistence that he had done nothing wrong despite tons of evidence to the contrary convinced me he deserved immediate firing — if not the firing squad. Gradually, though, anger gave way to amazement as Strzok grew increasingly combative and condescending. Given his predicament, the sneering and smirking were stupid, and yet he persisted. Who is this jerk, I wondered, and how in the hell did he get to be a big shot at the FBI? And why are taxpayers still paying for the privilege of
