NBC Super Bowl ad sales face declining

Oh-oh. Here we are barely three weeks out from the Super Bowl and NBC has yet to sell all its ads. Same for the ensuing Winter Olympics. [Snip] It’s an immense economic gamble for NBC, which has committed to live-sports programming but now finds live-sports ratings tumbling for events like the National Football League and Olympics. NBC is paying $12 billion to those old guys on the Olympic Committee through 2032. But more trouble looms. First of all,

Keep up the pressure. Hit ´em where it hurts and make ´em feel the consequences.

Temptation to ´cheat´ is strong, but I will continue to boycott the playoffs and the "Big Game" itself.

$5 million for a 30 second spot. The big guys like Anheuser-Busch will be there. So will Coca-Cola. I doubt 70% of tv´s in use will be turned to the Super Bowl this year. It might finally sink into the NFL that people are fed up.

The NFL needs to kneel down and beg me to come back. Not sure if I will watch SB. I will probably tune in but if I see them showing players kneeling during the National Anthem, I´m switching to the latest episodes of Storage Wars or Pawn Stars, or whatever else happens to be on.

They are nothing more than a bunch of self-absorbed, dependent clowns..Demonstrating their disrespect of those who have brought to them a way to make money and live a life of an American Dream...For which they have disrespected it all; for their own publicity...I say let them go broke, and have a need to sell pencils outside their empty stadiums...

You know what´s funny? I´d watch, and so would everyone in my family if they just did the ads and the half time show and left the players and footballs in the locker rooms.

I love to watch the Olympic events. Unfortunately, it’s no longer about the events. Since the talking heads took over, it’s not worth my time. I got tired of yelling “shut up and show the events” to the TV screen. At one time, I lived near the Canadian border and we got the Olympics on Canadian TV. We actually got to watch the events! That’s when I learned about that great sport “Curling”! Those were the days. Sigh.

That idiot skier cost the winter Olympics a bunch of viewers.

Kneeling NFL players cost them a lot of viewers and hurt their advertisers.

As long as you are in the public eye in a field where all your fans do not share your personal political, moral, etc, views, then realize that you are paid big money to entertain and keep your mouth shut on the controversial stuff!!!

Americans like Republicans running their states. A new tabulation of state-by-state job approval ratings for all 50 of the nation’s governors finds that the top 15 with the highest approvals are all GOP. During the White House reign of Barack Obama, American voters made a distinct turn to the GOP at both the federal and state levels. They took over not just both houses of Congress, but also nearly 1,000 seats in state legislatures and dozens of governors’ offices. The GOP now controls 33 of them and both legislative chambers in 26 of those states. Democrats now hold only 16

Amazing what some major tax reforms and tax cuts in paychecks will do to public opinion. A majority of Americans — a slim one, to be sure, but a majority nonetheless — believes members of the middle class now pay “their fair share” of federal taxes. That’s way up from last year’s poll before Congress passed and President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December. Under the ongoing tutelage of Democrats and media, a large majority of Americans knows that large corporations pay way too little in taxes, although — wait for it — the proportion that
