The GOP Must Win a Better Deal on DACA
National Review Online, by Editors

At a partially televised bipartisan meeting about immigration on Tuesday, President Trump demonstrated that he’s not, despite the fevered fantasies of the Left, senile; unfortunately, he also demonstrated that he’s not necessarily reliable on immigration policy. Trump was optimistic that an agreement to codify DACA, President Obama’s unlawful de facto amnesty for a segment of so-called Dreamers, would eventually be struck. We, too, think there is a deal to be had in theory, but it must be carefully crafted. On Tuesday, Trump said he would sign anything Congress sent him. The White House, thankfully, quickly walked this back, and Trump

1st, identify the ones waving Mexican flags at all these rallies. Then test all these dreamers that are now adults, who were brought here as children, that still can´t read or write English. #3, identify all those that are sucking up benefits! Those 3 groups are the first ones that should go back!

Media: President Trump reneged on his promise to eradicate DACA!

Truth: President Trump sent the "insane hussein mess" to Congress and told them to fix it and gave them a deadline to which they aren´t close.

Do you see it?: Republicans must accept the premise that DACA is something that "must" be taken care of by letting the "dreamers" stay. The GOP is accepting the Democrats´ premise and building on it. Again. They do it with just about every cockamamie scheme the Democrats come up with.

Instead of finding a way to fix what Democrats claim are problems, how about just saying no, that´s not on my agenda?

After laying out what must be included in any bill sent to him, funding for the wall, an end to the lottery, no chain migration, Trump then stated he would sign anything sent to him.

Why DACA at all? It will not bring any benefit to the Republicans, as DACA participants and supporters are all Leftists. It´s an Obama program pushed through without congressional approval, and therefore should be ended. They need to get in line with those attempting to immigrate legally.

Veni, vidi, vici. That’s what Trump would have tweeted en route to a weekend of golf at his courses in Scotland had he not forgotten his high school Latin. Traditional diplomat Nicholas Burns, former U.S. ambassador to NATO, says “The president treated the NATO allies almost with contempt.” Delete “almost” and Burns has it right. But the tone of Trump’s tweets and comments are best understood as the exasperation of this American president who wants to succeed where his predecessors failed—ending that part of the post-World War II settlement that disadvantages America. And if that means abandoning traditional diplomacy in

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said the streets of her city are flooded with the excrement of the homeless in an interview Friday. Breed, a Democrat who was inaugurated as San Francisco’s mayor Wednesday, urged homeless advocacy groups that receive money from the city to teach homeless people to “clean up after themselves.” “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” Breed told KNTV. “That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.” The streets of San Francisco are littered with a “dangerous

Yesterday’s hearing on Capitol Hill featuring FBI agent Peter Strzok quickly turned into a political firefight among lawmakers, but overall it was a damning illustration of the toxic culture that exists within the Washington, D.C., beltway. At one point, Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy confronted the former investigator over some anti-Trump texts he had sent. In 2016, after FBI lawyer Lisa Page asked Strzok if Trump would ever become the president, his response was, “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.” Republican committee members read a number of Strzok’s vitriolic texts about Donald Trump and his supporters, and at one point

Hillary Clinton still thinks she is relevant. This week Hillary spoke in Pittsburg to the American Federation of Teachers. Since her 2016 lost to an utterly political outsider in President Trump, Hillary has not swayed far from the opportunity to make news headlines or receive a cool $250,000 just for giving her inept opinion on something. Now, she is trying to tell others what is American. During her speech, Clinton said that Trump is “trying to rip the heart out of America.” She went on to say that a test of a society is how we treat our most vulnerable, old

The venerable Washington Post, the newspaper that brought down a Republican president and spawned at least two Hollywood movies, a paper backed by the resources of the wealthiest man in America, sicced three reporters (including a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter) and six researchers on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. This fearsome team produced two exposes on the nominee revealing that — drum roll, please — Kavanaugh drinks Budweiser at his local pub and used a credit card to buy season tickets to his hometown baseball team. A man parked his motorcycle on the sidewalk Saturday morning, ruining the aesthetic of the last remaining Blockbuster in the continental United States. “You can’t park there,” general manager Sandi Harding told the man as he walked into the store in Bend, Ore. “People are trying to take pictures.” The man paused for a beat. There was confusion in his response. “Trying to take pictures?” Somehow he had missed the past decade, when Blockbuster the video rental behemoth became Blockbuster the fallen victim of modernity. In 2004, at the company’s peak, 9,000 Blockbuster outlets studded city blocks and suburban strip malls nationwide, a onetime indelible

Is abortion a sad and unfortunate reality — regrettable, as we are sometimes told, but often necessary — or is it a breezy nothingburger, completely “normal,” and something to be giddily celebrated like a last-minute NFL touchdown? For a long time, the abortion lobby has had difficulty deciding. This summer, it seems that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh — and the rising feverish chatter surrounding the possible demise of Roe v. Wade — might just push the pro-abortion movement over the edge. By now perhaps you’ve seen the horror show cooked up by Michelle Wolf, the Netflix star best known for

Subtlety not being Donald Trump’s customary approach to his job, his nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court was a surprisingly artful political play. For the many Trump supporters who delight in the president’s thumb-in-the-eye approach, the court vacancy was an opportunity for Trump to actually earn the prefab fulminations from Democrats, which were coming no matter whom he chose, by selecting a nominee that another Republican president might have deemed too risky. The option preferred by this group was Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose presence on Trump’s short list caused palpitations on both sides of

Prince Charles and Prince William reportedly ‘snubbed’ the US President during his visit to Britain - leaving the Queen to meet Donald Trump alone at Windsor Castle. The royal father and son apparently shared their desire to not take part in the arrangements during informal discussions regarding the president’s four-day tour. Trump’s trip was not a state visit and so only the Queen greeted the president and his wife Melania. However even on working trips dignitaries expect to see more members of the royal family than only the Queen. His repeated, arrogant insistence that he had done nothing wrong despite tons of evidence to the contrary convinced me he deserved immediate firing — if not the firing squad. Gradually, though, anger gave way to amazement as Strzok grew increasingly combative and condescending. Given his predicament, the sneering and smirking were stupid, and yet he persisted. Who is this jerk, I wondered, and how in the hell did he get to be a big shot at the FBI? And why are taxpayers still paying for the privilege of
