Lessons in Economic Literacy

Anyone remember the early 1990s when the Clinton Administration discovered to its horror that it couldn’t spend like the horny drunken sailors we know them to have been because the bond market would instantly punish the economy? James Carville famously said that if he was reincarnated, he wanted to come back to earth as the bond market. Hold that thought in mind as we survey the current economic scene a little more closely. Liberals told us that the corporate tax cut bill was a sop to the rich, etc. Yet lots of solid economic studies found that our high corporate income

As a former sailor I am offended that anyone would even imply a similarity between the Draft-Dodging Bent One, and the members of the Navy, who were all volunteers before the all-volunteer military.

As for economists, investigative and otherwise, most I´ve met are socialists, and therefore worthless. Too bad Obozo and his dumb economic team didn´t come to the same conclusion the Draft-Dodging Bent One did before they almost destroyed our economy.

What you see quoted in this article is the lament of someone who has been educated to the moronic level of a box of rocks:

Not even a single day into this new law’s existence, there are already signs that our worst fears about its dire global effects have been confirmed. Far from leading quickly to higher U.S. economic growth, more jobs and higher wages, the deep corporate tax cuts contained in this bill have already triggered, or at least substantially accelerated, a global tax war—an aggressive “race to the bottom” in international corporate tax rates, rules, and regulations that will be deeply harmful. . .

Marxist "economists" are something that I am familiar with, having managed scientific projects in the former Soviet states for a decade. Teaching a Soviet-trained Marxist how to budget a project, and how to manage it is a frustrating and often laughable process. They have to unlearn everything that they "know".

Same for these idiot Marxist economists. Reagan said it best.
“It isn´t so much that liberals are ignorant. It´s just that they know so many things that aren´t so.”

Doubly so for leftist economists. Useless.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth has a share of The Open lead after a faultless third round with Tiger Woods also in contention at Carnoustie. American Spieth, 24, shot a six-under 65 as he bids to become the first man to retain the Claret Jug since 2008. Kevin Kisner and Xander Schauffele are also nine under par, with Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood on five under. Woods shot his lowest round at a major since 2011 as a five-under-par 66 put him alongside McIlroy and Fleetwood. Making his first Open appearance since 2015, Woods sunk six birdies to take a share of a six-way lead

The Democrats have had the equivalent of a sex change operation over Russia. It would make for an hilarious black comedy were it not for the dangerous implications for the safety of the human race — not to mention the increasingly disastrous miseducation of our youth. In fact, this sex change is so extreme it should make even a card-carrying LGBTQQP2SAA blush. Take our erstwhile senator from Vermont, Comrade Bernie, even now off touring the country with the latest "progressive" fave, a socialist with the apparent knowledge base of one of those clueless dimbulbs chosen for satiric man-on-the-street TV interviews.

CLEARWATER — Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced Friday that his agency will not arrest a man deputies say shot and killed another man during an argument over a handicap parking space. The incident falls under Florida’s self-defense law known as "stand your ground," the sheriff said during a news conference. The law gives immunity to those in fear of their lives who use force to defend themselves. The shooting "is within the bookends of ‘stand your ground’ and within the bookends of force being justified," the sheriff said, later adding, "I’m not saying I agree with it, but I don’t make

Progressives and their neocon brethren have been predictably outraged this week, because at the press conference after the Helsinki summit on Monday, our president appeared to give the detested Vladimir Putin the benefit of the doubt. Despite the contrary views of Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and many others, Trump said he believed Putin that the “Russian state” had not interfered in the 2016 presidential election. So, to our perpetually hysterical media, Trump is now a traitor who is siding with Russia over his own country. Yet the childish reactions have obscured a number of important facts. To begin with,

Birthright Citizenship: An

The 14th Amendment became part of the U.S. Constitution 150 years ago in July of 1868. Among other things, it enshrined our traditional common law practice of granting citizenship to those born in the United States who are subject to its laws—specifically it guaranteed that the recently freed slaves and their descendants would be citizens. The 14th Amendment also applied to the children of immigrants, as its authors and opponents understood at the time. President Trump’s immigration position paper, however, famously endorsed an end to birthright citizenship. Michael Anton, a former national security official in the Trump administration as well as

Before the word "resignation" became a euphemism for being fired, it connoted a sense of public integrity and personal honor. Attorney General Elliot Richardson and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, showed both qualities when they resigned from the Nixon administration during the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973. Jimmy Carter’s secretary of state, Cyrus Vance, did likewise when he resigned during the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. Assuming Mike Pompeo and John Bolton still have their own senses intact, they, too, should resign following the epic disgrace of the U.S.-Russia summit inHelsinki on Monday. A Sarasota man died of an infectious bacteria after eating raw oysters. The bacteria, called Vibrio vulnificus, is often associated with eating raw or under-cooked shellfish or entering into warm coastal waters with exposed wounds. The 71-year-old Sarasota man was said to have eaten the contaminated oysters on July 8 and died two days later, according to the Florida Department of Health. The name of the restaurant was not released. Vibrio vulnificus is a rare disease but infections will lead to vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, according to the department’s website. If the infection is contracted through the skin, it can lead to

The *international community* considers the Palestinian Authority to be Israel’s “peace partner.” Or used to, anyway. Unfortunately, the facts keep getting in the way. The Palestinian Authority has long paid bounties to the families of terrorists who murder Israelis. Israel has been trying to deal with this incitement to mass murder for quite a while. Recently, Israel passed a law under which amounts paid by the PA to the families of convicted and deceased terrorists will be deducted from tax collections remitted by Israel to the PA. Nonetheless, the president displayed both perspicacity and political courage when he pointed the finger at the United States for mismanaging the relationship with Russia. Since her surprise primary victory over 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been promoted by the media as the prototype of a new generation of young progressives destined to replace the leadership of the Democratic Party. Unfortunately for her media boosters, however, she keeps blowing her lines. It’s not just her rote advocacy of single-payer healthcare and guaranteed government jobs, or even that she backs wacky ideas like abolishing ICE and occupying airports — Ocasio-Cortez is genuinely clueless. She outed herself, in several recent interviews, as functionally illiterate in economics, international relations, and history.

In the past few days, President Trump has given at least some Republicans reason to express displeasure over his relationship with Russia. First he performed a pathetic ritual of subservience before Vladimir Putin, standing beside the Russian leader — after a private meeting between the two, which no aides were permitted to attend — and dismissing the copious evidence of a Russian attack on the 2016 election in deference to Putin’s word. Then we learned that Putin had suggested that we make Americans available to the Kremlin for questioning, including Michael McFaul, the former U.S. ambassador to Russia, in exchange
