Obama non-library ‘presidential center’
in Chicago devolving into a fiasco

The first community organizer to become president has managed to anger community groups so much with his planned personal monument, aka “presidential center,” that part of the plan was just scrapped. (snip) The original plan would have grabbed a treasured part of Chicago’s park system, the Midway (site of Chicago’s World’s Fair) for a two-story garage. The group Save the Midway sprang up to protect the historic public park land from a private developer (the Obama Foundation) appropriating the land for a private purpose (the Obama Center will not be part of the National Archives System) The embarrassment is palpable:

They decided against making it a library, since most of his supporters can´t read.

The design of the building reminds the article´s author of a cenotaph. A centotaph, I have learned, is a tomb-like structure built to commemorate someone who is buried elsewhere and is often used to pay tribute to soldiers who died in a war. In other words, it is an empty tomb -- and not the kind that Jesus left on Easter morning!

Seems fitting for an empty presidency that resulted in so much death.

Nobody ever accused the Obamas and their entourage of exquisite taste, much less honor and dignity. A library? Ain’t that racist and classist? Preserving the vision of the great Olmstead? Nope. He was a white guy. We need us another basketball court.
Chicago destroyed beautiful and profitable Midway Airport, let them put the Obamanation’s self-aggrandizing no-vision monument to tackiness and corruption on that now-weed-choked wasteland.

Pardon the second post but it just struck me that the plain concrete base of the non-library could be covered with a facade of fake grass, making the structure look like a giant hut in Kenya. The test kitchen could be used for roasting lion meat and grasshoppers.

Reminds me of KenCen. No, reminds me of Tora Bora. Looks like a fort with a drawbridge, portcullis, helipad, bomb shelter, excuse for storing food supplies, excuse for athletic training equipment, and a visitors center to vet people at a distance. Putting it in a park means a wide perimeter guarded and mowed by someone else. This doesn´t mean I am worried about it; they will freeze to death. buh bye!

Suddenly Obama is being disrespected in Chicago? What´s wrong with those folks -- don´t they know a "shovel ready" project when they see one?

Is it too late for Barack the Pharoah to move this whole boondoggle to Hawaii? Would that be a more congenial place for the Obama Presidential Rumpus Room and Activity Center? "Pave paradise . . . put up a parking lot" would be more in keeping with the Obama "legacy."

Stealing valuable parkland from the citizens of Chicago to build a monument to Obie.
Not one book to be included, which is apt, as Obie´s minions either will not or cannot read.

When I saw the illustration of the proposed building, I was immediately reminded of the ´Mask of Sorrow´ monument in Magadan, Russia, at the end of the Road of Bones.

My next thought was that the plans are already being refined as to how to skim off as much CA$H as possible and direct it into the pockets of the corrupt union officials and government officials. (Hey this IS Rhammy and Obie´s Chicago, ya know!)

Frederick Law Olmstead is arguable the American Capability Brown - a master landscape architect.. Public spaces designed by him are more than just acreage. A landscape has to grow, many of his vistas are just now fully mature. There are not a whole lot of his public works left. Jimmy Carter already had a go at destroying what´s left of what´s now called Olmstead Park along Ponce de leon Drive in Atlanta to make his Monument To Self. Whole neighborhoods were leveled in the surrounding area before public outcry stopped it and a different "Freedom Parkway" built.
Why do democrats hate Frederic Law Olmstead?

I am stunned that the Chicago machine and citizens turned their backs on the gilded one. BO and MO must be shocked. Their star fell pretty quickly.

What is crazy is that Okra from Chicago wants to resurrect BO non-legacy with a run for another black feminine president. Who is going to be in her cabinet? Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz (is he the Wizard with the scary hair), Stehdman (is he her husband, valet or what?), the Gayle chick whom I believe had her own talking show for like a week, or the numerous celebrities who have weird connections to mystics, psychics, vegans and gosh what else.

In the very German study of war and strategery, there is the concept of the "decisive battle." It means, more or less, the confrontation after which the losing side just loses the will to continue. Maybe the #SchumerShutdown is Trump´s decisive battle, and maybe it isn´t. At any rate, as President Lincoln said about Gen. Grant, "I can´t spare this man: he fights." That is why we normals voted for Donald Trump. We wanted a president who could go up against the liberals without fear and fight them. The good news for us conservatives and Republicans -- even in California -- is that the progressive Democrats are not anywhere near as smart as they tell us they are. They have made key unforced strategic errors in the past decade which have caused them to lose half of their legislative seats and governor’s mansions across the states, significant chunks of their agenda and of course the Grand Prize of them all, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One major unforced strategic error was forcing ObamaCare down the public’s unwilling throats at midnight on Christmas Eve 2010 before passing their beloved Comprehensive Immigration Reform,

Some learned and accomplished folks, who deservedly command a great deal of respect and admiration, view the Trump presidency in an entirely different light from what millions of Americans see. To these sage and wizened critics, the president´s persona outweighs his achievements; his flaws overwhelm his strengths and, by extension, hamstring his ability to move an agenda forward. I believe that those harboring an anti-Trump mindset would do well to consider that the election of Trump was never about the man – it was not the "cult of personality" that the major media and the establishment Republicans portrayed it to be, but

You’ve got to feel for Robert Mueller. The man overseeing the special investigation into Russian election meddling is by all accounts a non-partisan straight shooter, the model image of a public-minded civil servant. Drafted to lead politically polarizing investigation, working under the beady eyes of distrustful congressional Republicans, Mueller has striven to keep his team’s conduct as unimpeachable as possible by bringing on some of America’s sharpest legal minds to check his own work and keeping public comments to a minimum. Imagine how Mueller feels, then, to have to answer so frequently for the partisans and incompetents surrounding him. The special counsel’s biggest

Malia Obama, who is studying at Harvard University, has boyfriend! But some black people on Twitter have questioned her choice in men, because Malia´s new homey, Rory Farquharson, is white. (5 tweets) This racism on the part of some in the black community, who are bruddas and sistas to us all, is very sad. Most white people want us to grow together as a community. I just wish everyone of all races felt the same way. Questions for discussion: After years of Obama´s race baiting, President Trump is the first "post-racial" president to follow him. What do you think President Trump

Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) questioned President Donald Trump’s new campaign ad saying Democrats “will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants” if they continued the shutdown. Ryan said, “They are certainly not helping us keep the government open. They are certainly not helping us get to a solution on immigration. When you shut down the government you stop negotiating on immigration reform. They’re complicity with not getting things done.” He added, “I’m not going to comment. I just saw that. I don’t know if that’s necessarily productive. It’s no

The Daily Caller journalist Chuck Ross has some extremely interesting information released today surrounding former top FBI Counterintelligence Agent Peter Strzok and DOJ/FBI liaison attorney Lisa Page which includes a disclosure by top FBI officials that text messages between Strzok and Page have gone missing. (Snip) According to information relayed to Senator Ron Johnson, the period of time the FBI has “lost” is from December 14th, 2016 to May 17th, 2017, the exact day that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was assigned to lead the Russia collusion probe. As CTH has previously outlined the same “small group” inside the DOJ and FBI,

Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI "failed to preserve" Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017. Given the amount of texting that went on between Strzok and Page, who were having an extramarital affair, that probably meant thousands of missing documents. A number of critical events in the Trump-Russia affair occurred between December 2016 and May 2017, including: Conversations between Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey

Congressional investigators believe they are barely beginning to answer the questions raised by the text messages between the FBI´s Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. For several reasons: 1) Strzok and Page were more prolific texters than anyone knew. In a statement late Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said FBI investigators have found "over 50,000 texts" in their review of Strzok-Page communications. 2) Even with all those texts, the FBI says it cannot find the couple´s messages between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017 — a critical time in the Trump-Russia affair. It´s probably safe to say there is not a single

New text messages from anti-Trump FBI agents reviewed by investigators reportedly make reference to a "secret society," in what could be the nail in the coffin for special counsel Robert Mueller´s Russia investigation. Investigators have reviewed 50,000 text messages on FBI servers looking for all exchanges between anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page during the 2016 election, Fox News reported. The revelation comes as investigators are seeking the whereabouts of approximately five months´ worth of text messages between Page and Strzok. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy told Fox News on Monday that one

WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) called the government shutdown a “manufactured crisis” created by Democrats who want a permanent Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) fix, which he referred to as a “non-emergency” issue that does not belong in the short-term spending bill to continue federal government operations. “The one non-emergency issue our friends on the other side of the aisle are trying to shoehorn into this discussion doesn’t reach that status of emergency until March. This is pure folly. The American people know so, that´s why in a recent survey a majority said keeping the government open

Calling the Trump administration’s tax reform plan a “middle-class tax increase,” two California lawmakers introduced a bill that would force large companies to fork over half of their expected savings to the state. Assemblymen Kevin McCarty and Phil Ting, both Democrats, introduced Assembly Constitutional Amendment 22, which calls for a 10 percent surcharge on companies with a net earnings over $1 million. The plan could potentially raise billions for the state´s social services programs. “It is unconscionable to force working families to pay the price for tax breaks and loopholes benefiting corporations and wealthy individuals,” Ting said in a statement,

The Senate on Monday was set to hold a successful vote to reopen the federal government, after Senate Democrats agreed to let the bill through even though it doesn´t include immigration language they are seeking. "We will vote today to reopen the government to continue negotiating a global agreement," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the floor. Under the bill up to be called up, the government would be fully funded through Feb. 8, and it would fund the Children´s Health Insurance Program for six years. It would also reopen the government, which has been partially closed since midnight

It has been four months since Megyn Kelly earned the wrath and ire of Jane Fonda for asking the 80-year-old actress about her plastic surgery, and the NBC host is now responding to the backlash. That moment occurred during Kelly´s third episode when she asked the Oscar-winner about what work she had done in the past, which prompted a steely Fonda to stare Kelly down and ask: ´We really want to talk about that now?´ Since then Fonda has complained about the question to a number of outlets, and even mocked Kelly´s question on Today last week during an interview
