The Rise and Precipitous
Fall of Steve Bannon

National Review, by Jonah Goldberg

Steve Bannon won’t be going away any time soon, because he’s clearly addicted to the idea that he’s supremely relevant, and he’s surrounded himself with people who agree with him or are happy to be paid to say they agree with him. But I’m struggling to think of a comparable figure in American political history who squandered real power and influence as completely and quickly as Bannon has. Father Coughlin — a Bannon-like figure in more ways than one — was a major force in American politics for most of the 1930s, wielding significant popular influence. His power increased for

Search Mark Levin Show archives for his take on Nanno right after the election. Bannon was an establishment guy that helped defeat Reagan from getting the nomination the first time. He’s as low life and slimy as it gets. I don’t trust him one bit.

Clearly Steve Bannon has not been taking care of himself, you can tell that by his physical appearance. That in itself indicates that he may have a boozing or a mental situation going regardless of the fact that he claims to support President Trump’s political agenda.

For the most part Republicans are going to now cut their ties with Bannon as it is clear that he could stab you in the back at the drop of a hat. President Trump put Bannon ina position of trust in the White House and common decency dictates that Bannon owed Trump his loyalty and confidentiality, but instead for some reason not yet explained, Bannon stabbed Trump and his family in the back by collaborating with Author Wolfe on his salacious book that contained a lot of bogus and mischaracterized information adverse to Trump and his family.

None of this makes even the slightest bit of sense. We obviously dont have the full story.
A very wise priest once told me there are no coincidences and there are no accidents.
I used to think Bannon was great. I am questioning that now, but will not pile on just yet.

Jonah, uh, really? Actually, it´s too bad Andrew B. isn´t still alive so that Bannon couldn´t infiltrate Breitbart News. Right now, Bannon is just following the money. As the old saying goes.

Squandered influence sounds like the title of a book about Glenn Beck and Steve Bannon. And (to some extent) Jonah Goldberg, whose esteem among Conservatives seemed virtually unlimited just a few years ago.

Congress seeks answers after FBI

Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI "failed to preserve" Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017. Given the amount of texting that went on between Strzok and Page, who were having an extramarital affair, that probably meant thousands of missing documents. A number of critical events in the Trump-Russia affair occurred between December 2016 and May 2017, including: Conversations between Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey

A top staffer on Megyn Kelly’s show has been fired after claiming there is a “toxic and demeaning” environment on set, rife with bullying and “abusive treatment.” Kevin Bleyer was fired as a writer from “Megyn Kelly Today” this week after complaining that Kelly’s two top execs, Jackie Levin and Christine Cataldi, were bullying lower level members of staff. He was fired even though Kelly has made fighting abuse her personal crusade. Plus, in the wake of Matt Lauer’s firing, NBC ordered all staff to report workplace bad behavior, supposedly without fear or reprisal.

Government shutdown looking

Senate Democrats said Thursday they had enough votes to block a GOP short-term budget deal — increasing the likelihood of a government shutdown as Friday’s midnight deadline loomed. A senior Senate Democratic aide told The Washington Post it was “almost certain” that a spending extension does not have the votes to pass the upper chamber. The Democrats want the bill to include relief for the Dreamers — immigrants brought here illegally as children and who were protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. But President Trump and immigration hard-liners in Congress want to deal with DACA at a later date. With the

Rupert Murdoch suffered a serious back injury while vacationing on his son Lachlan’s yacht in the Caribbean earlier this month, three sources familiar with the incident told Vanity Fair. The 86-year-old media mogul was helicoptered off the boat and was, until recently, recovering in a Los Angeles hospital, one of the sources said. The incident is said to have happened shortly after the New Year’s holiday. Last Friday night, Murdoch sent an email to his senior management informing them of the accident: "I hope you all are having a great start to 2018. I suspect it has been better than mine,"

On Monday, October 2, 2017, Harvey Weinstein arrived at work earlier than usual. As was his custom, he barked orders and moved from room to room inside his spacious office suite at 375 Greenwich Street, the New York City headquarters of the Weinstein Company (T.W.C.), a beautiful old red-brick factory building that had been converted into a center of the film universe. The producer had formed the enterprise some 12 years earlier after he and his brother and partner, Bob Weinstein, exited their fabled Miramax operation, home to such critical and commercial successes as Shakespeare in Love, Pulp Fiction, and Sex,

How Michael Wolff Got Into the White

Author Michael Wolff’s pitch to the White House to win cooperation for his book included a working title that signaled a sympathetic view, a counter-narrative to a slew of negative news stories early in Donald Trump’s presidency. He called it “The Great Transition: The First 100 Days of the Trump Administration.” And in part due to that title, Wolff was able to exploit an inexperienced White House staff who mistakenly believed they could shape the book to the president’s liking.

Lawmakers investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election vowed Tuesday to force answers from Steve Bannon after the former senior strategist to President Donald Trump stonewalled their inquiries — even after the committee issued a subpoena with bipartisan support. Lawmakers in both parties attributed Bannon´s silence to the White House, which they said told him to refuse to discuss his time in the West Wing or on Trump´s transition team. Bannon´s refusal to speak clearly angered lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee, who vowed to make him speak.

Democrats called it the Trump shutdown. Republicans labeled it the Schumer shutdown. But in reality, it was the Dreamer shutdown. The recipe for the current congressional gridlock is complex, but at the top of the list of ingredients are the illegal immigrant Dreamers who pushed Democrats to launch the filibuster that sent the government careening into a partial shutdown. It’s a stunning display of political leverage for a group that, at most, numbers several million, can’t vote now, and even under the most generous proposals wouldn’t be able to cast ballots for another decade. It´s no secret that Mitt Romney is, in all likelihood, going to run for a Senate seat in Utah. What´s less clear, however, is why the man who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and is now retired and occupying an elder-statesman role in a party torn into warring factions would want to serve as a junior senator. Once elected, Romney would find himself embroiled in day-to-day congressional fights and less free to voice his criticisms of the White House, while losing some of the deference he´s been shown by members of his own party.
