Drudge calls Bannon ´schizophrenic´
The Hill, by Julia Manchester

Original Article

Drudge Report editor Matt Drudge on Wednesday ratcheted up his feud with Stephen Bannon, calling him "schizophrenic" after explosive new comments from the the former White House strategist. "No wonder schizophrenic Steve Bannon has been walking around with a small army of bodyguards," Drudge said in a tweet. The Guardian on Wednesday published several quotes from Bannon that will appear in a new book from journalist Michael Wolff. In the book, Bannon rips Donald Trump Jr. and refers to Trump Jr.´s infamous Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer as "treasonous" and "unpatriotic." “They’re going to crack Don Junior like

Drudge calls Bannon schizophrenic then puts a blaring red headline about Bannon calling Trump treasonous, thereby promoting the latter´s new book. Who is schizophrenic here? The Bannon quotes are not news -- they are his opinions.

Why is Drudge in a feud with Bannon? It does appear to be that way with these recent headlines blaring out from the Drudge site.

Everyone knows if Don Jr. or Jarred are indited for anything, Trump will pardon them before the ink is dry! Why shouldn´t he. Hillary and her Band of Thugs are running around like they didn´t do anything, so I would say "what´s good for the Goose is good for the Gander"! Arrest Hillary, then we can talk about Trump´s family members!

I approach the story on Bannon´s quotations with caution. Does Bannon really believe the Trump associates to be treasonous? Or was Bannon´s quotations taken out of context?

It is so easy to get sucked into fake news, so I try not to be. Is Bannon out of his gourd? Or is he being misquoted and decontextualized?

Headlines, even from Drudge (who has been utilizing more and more stuff from questionable UK rags I´ve noticed) are just that, headlines. I´m not inclined to get into accepting as comprehensive, bumper sticker analysis despite the growth of journalism in the world feeding and sowing short term attention spans. Bannon, Drudge, and all other conservative oriented sources are better than their (and certainly liberal) headlines can ever convey.

It is one thing for the Guardian to amplify quotes from a book from a meeting a year ago. It is quite another for Drudge to amplify it even further. What is the intended purpose? What is Drudge´s agenda? He has been critical of Trump before.

Are they just toughening up the US population? Trying to train us to read content objectively? Overall, we are becoming more objective as everyone´s nerves and alarm centers have been abused by the last three years.

Even the press conferences between the rabid press and Sarah are becoming more respectful and civil -- thanks to Sarah´s professionalism and skill with which she presents the universal principles Trump is following.

Bannon is a lightning rod. There will always be those for and against him and radically so. I don’t believe he is really that important.

I met Matt Drudge once, many years ago. A very odd person. Even a few minutes of chatting left me with the idea that he wanted nobody to know what he was really thinking.

I have had Drudge Report as my home page for many years, but he is acting weirder than normal these days.

I´ll believe these claims about "what Bannon said" when I see him say them. Lots of folks lying about Bannon.

Remember that time, way back about two weeks ago, when President Trump berated leaders of his own party, in front of a room full of cameras, for being afraid of the NRA, and he vowed to pass a bipartisan bill that would make it harder for kids to get assault rifles? Yeah, well, in case you missed the latest — which wouldn’t have been hard, since the one-day story was instantly eclipsed by a Cabinet shakeup and a special election — that whole thing went away Monday with a mumbled “never mind” from the White House.
